Back in '98, I remember reading about the Sultan dumping older Rolls Royce wheels into the China Sea whenever they've upgraded to newer wheels. Can't remember the magazine though.
I’ve just read an old article from 98 about this collection. He had some lease deal with Rolls Royce for around 20 million a year. After a couple of years some would be cut up and used for spares which seems really odd to me. Apparently he never purchased another RR after the bmw takeover in 98. That black Bentley Java convertible was a concept car based on the e39 5 series. The sultan had rolls Royce engines retrofits instead of the bmw lump. Another crazy story is of all the RR/Bentleys had some factory hub upgrade meaning 300 cars had new hubs and wheels to match. The now redundant alloy wheels (1200 pieces) were dumped in the South China Sea.
Does this guy let people see his collection often or are all of these cars just locked away to collect dust and be forgotten about? It’s kinda sad to see all of these legendary cars owned by one single person and not given the attention they deserve.

So Prince Jefri single-handedly funded the R&D programs at Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Lamborghini in the 1990s.
Kirk Williams maybe underhandedly would be more accurate?
He did - and now the 'fruits' of that effort is rotting in a hot/humid jungle in Brunei, wasted completely.
