Some of your procedures I wouldn't do myself, I like the way you placed the lock ring on with the levers, I'll certainty be giving that a try. A piece of advice is that I noticed the split on the ring was not 180 degrees opposite the valve stem, I was always taught to place it that way. Nobody could tell me why, until I met a rim expert. The reason was where the valve goes into the rim is the weakest part of the main rim, should the rim crack from the valve hole to the top of the rim and the lock ring split is close by, it can expelled the lock ring whilst under load. Having it 180 degrees opposite allows the tyre and rim to stay intact until one releases the air out of the tyre, the other reason was while inflating if you stand 90 degrees from the valve or the split of the locking ring, one will have a far less chance of the locking ring hitting you should it fail during inflation.. Found your video entertaining and thank you for sharing

Thanks, I will do the 180 degree thing in future, the use of levers to refit saves a lot of jumping up and down!

While changing split rim tires on the farm, we would change them, hook the air chuck up, then lower the bucket of a loader tractor over them and open the air valve on the compressor tank slowly. Never had one come apart, but a safety procedure I didn't mind doing.

Thanks for your useful comment. There have been a lot of negative comments. I have never shown an inflation video. But considering all the comments I may well do one sometime showing inflation with straps around the tyre, just in case. Safety first.

If you have a michelin inner tube in the tire you do not need to fight the valve stem.
Just turn it one half turn and it will not be in the way of removing the tire from the rim.
The brass inflation valves on michelin inner tubes can be changed.
We only use michelin inner tubes in all our truck tires.

Well the thing is whatever they are called people with this type of rim (these are iveco daily 4x4) will understand. I believe Toyota Landcruisers in some parts of the world use a similar type.

These guys are not right to say the least. You would never even weld a one piece rim, not talking about split one. And stop saying the lock ring will never come apart and that this design is very safe, people got killed with this "safe" design, that's why manufactures went ahead for a new, one piece rim design. You guys are playing with death!!!

One piece rims are welded together. Look how steel wheels are made. If the lock ring is located correctly it will not come apart. Accidents have occured because the correct procedures were not followed. Thousands of trucks both small and large have been using these type of design for years. Including Toyota land cruisers.

@@MR1wooki I have had the truck for 11 years and I have changed tyres and fixed punctures numerous times. To say that I have no idea what I am doing is a bit rich. Watch other videos on the same style rims and tell me if they are doing it any different. People do this all the time in the middle of nowhere.....No tyre shops. Where I am there are few people willing to do the job in a tyre shop. I do not show the inflating but I do say put strap around the tyre and inflate slowly.
