Grew up wiith RITM in Florida...still nothing compares to the elegance of their music.....EDM followers of today need to experience the birth or the evolution.
first heard this in Sasha/Digweeds' Master Classic "Northern Exposure" CD set then got to experience it live in the Atlanta to Charlotte clubs! damn the 90s where the "wild west" club days fo sho!
This is the greatest "Progressive house/best happy album" EVER... Who would of ever thought to mix Sarah M, hardkiss, and RITM.... Seeing them in Zen 1997 is one of the greatest moments in my life. I feel honored to see all of them on my journey.. It is just so surreal! Firestone and John Digweed will always hold a VERY special place in our hearts.
Truth! 1st Ultra. On the beach and I mean on the beach dancing in the sand with Ocean Drive lit up like we were in front and the ocean at our backs with our screams of joy and transcendence culminating into Tori's haunting shilling and the rabbits 🐇 drums filling the space where we found ourselves at that moment in time...chilling.
I used to help my friends do intelligent lighting and I remember this. I was more into hxc/punk music at the time but this crept into my soul and it’s never left since! I’m very grateful for all of those sleepless nights that I now truly know the value of.
This song was in some compilation album I took with me to a trip to the desert in Mexico in 1997 and I listened to it over and over and it brings me amazing memories. I love it so much.
Reminds me of times in the 1993-5 range with a small band of people out in the Mojave, with the generator supplied by a helicopter pilot, John and Veronica organizing, invite only, maps handed out by hand, cleanup afterwards...Full Moon Gatherings before they got big. Like when Junior drove his jeep up the hill. . . and Christopher Lawrence, Daniel Chavez, Doc Martin, Thomas Michaels and others hit the tables..... wow.
My favourite Hardkiss tune. I loved the California Dreaming compilation as well with the Hawke 3 Nudes Track. Another great mix to try and find is the Radio 1 Essential mix by Scott Hardkiss from 1997..it is fantastic.
Almost forgot about RITM. I listened to Daft Punk, Moby and Aphex Twin as my fist electronic/dance bands for years. Then found RITM live recordings and this song specifically. Completely opened my mind to a more underground and conceptual type of music and love the influence it’s had. It’s weird how as soon as the piano notes started playing the rush of remember all the hours upon hours listening to them. Sorry rant over. TLDR this is a great song.
Still one of my favorite tracks of all time - the entire 12” is indeed a masterpiece. And incorporating Tori Amos’s “Precious Things” - how amazingly effective - from the piano to that first, almost primordial scream - soooo bad-ass. Every time I hear this track it’s a whole and blissful experience, year after year 😌🎶🎶😌
I've been looking for a rabbit in the moon song that was in a collection from 1997..I thiiink this is it but I can't be sure..I was trippin with no luggage. All I know is that it was on a collection CD with other artists like tiesto I believe..I think..around 1997..I may never find it..decades later I'm still looking. 😢 I'll know it when I hear it. I hope. ❤
@kayaro74 RITM came to the Louvre in Tallahassee back in '95/'96, can't remember exactly what year for reasons I won't go into :) First time I dropped acid, and OMFFFFFG!!! What a life-changing experience it was, if they ever come back anywhere near P'cola, I'm so there...without the acid, of course,,getting too old for it, but still love their music and always will!
I would say this, primal screams higher than the sun, and almost anything by koma & bones were the go-to music for partying at the time .. specifically ascender
@MashHacker ...they're basically split, Bunny is the only on touring now, and he's gone dubstep for the most part. *cries* Best show I've ever been to was when I saw them in WI.
I would love to have had this on vinyl. I'm glad that I was able to turn on my son and his friends to the super fantastic Rabbit and the Moon!!!!!!He went to Ultra twice and I set him up with the best rolls in town! His friends were blown away! Hey you gotta pass down the fun stuff too.
Bunny And David in Lafayette LA.....Holy SHIT those pills were strong. Them in New Orleans....OMG. The mirror birds and the disco ball outfit? Are U fucking kidding me!!!!!!!!
It's sad. I recently drove though downtown Orlando trying to recapture the days of my youth. The Drop Shop, UV, The Edge, ect. Only to get propostitioned by prostitutes.
it is Ingrid Chavez sampled from the song "field of whispering dandelions" then Tori Amos ahhhhhahhahhahahahh in the back not to sure about the tori amos part
RIP Scott and thanks for all the memories......or lack of them. You helped make the 90's what they were and this tune will always hold a place in my heart. Cheers bro!
It dissapoints me and depresses me that orlando lost this scene before i could experience it. Being born in 93 i never got to experience the good clubs i hear about, now it's just crappy clubs playing the worst music possible. I love the rave scene and it's been completely lost here.
