Monash Hard Waste - WM's New 8x4 Acco

- You may all remember my Bundle Green-Waste footage that I uploaded earlier in the year, so this week's video is something I filmed back in the end of August when Hard Waste was taking place in my area! Since WM over time have used various trucks on Hard Waste such as Isuzu's and DAF's and in recent times they have purchased Iveco Acco's. This year Brand New Acco's were bought to take on the job and these new trucks featured the newer style Acco cab which made me want to film the new machines in action!
After being told and seeing photos I already knew what my task was! I first went out on a Wednesday but instead I caught up with a 2012 Acco which I got footage of although I still wasn't pleased. On the Thursday I woke up extra early and did laps of my whole block still with no luck but after locating one of the newer trucks which was collecting Metals (I got some packing shots!) the driver and runner were more then happy to give me directions to the big 8x4! After doing some laps the First 8x4 appeared and I was able to get some footage but I wasn't pleased with the footage I had taken. I then went deeper into the area where I found the Second 8x4 and now I was really pleased with the footage!
All of these new trucks feature Compaction Systems bodies which are refurbished and look great with the WM livery. A driver was giving me a run down on how good these old design bodies were for Hard-Waste collections and he also knew a fair bit about the THEN Compaction Systems company. I would like to thank the friendly runners and drivers at WM for letting me video a couple of their trucks in action and I hope you enjoy the footage as much as I did filming it!

I'd have a big truck following or preceeding these trash trucks to pick up stuff that is of value. So much stuff of value to recycle is getting tossed. That's why I watch "Taco Stacks" here on UA-cam. He picks up stuff that can be recycled, reused, or resold. He makes a living doing this.
I've always had a weird passion for the "crunching" of trash in garbage trucks. The most I have ever been able to see is when my weekly garbage men collect. This is ADDICTING! Thank you for taking the time to give myself and others a chance to see the real "CRUNCH"!

Here in California the dump/landfill has a separate place for mattresses, tires, weeds and tree branches, construction material. but today there were 50 cops in hazmat suits hunting for the body of a 6 year old boy. This is their 7th day out there searching. It's so heartbreaking. They caught the parents and I guess they confessed to what they did to their child.
there was a similar incident in milwaukee... bad guys killed a transgendered person put the body in the trash... cops sent body dogs to the dump but to no avail... there's NO WAY even the best sniffing dogs can sniff out a body in one of these MASSIVE dumps unless there is SPECIFIC info as to where the body was dumped within the trash heap... so many TONS and ACRES to sniff out and so many smells/scents a decomposing body in all that garbage just gets lost in the smell shuffle... really sad... hope those parents were successfully convicted

What a truck, only downside is it ain't as loud as it could be haha Thing I love about these CS packers is the quick first few stages of the cycle, just drops heavily and scoops it away. I bet these things pack a good load, especially seeing how he regularly runs a cycle. What are the controls like inside the cab that the driver uses, just a replica of the four buttons on the back? Looks like this team goes alright, even saw them having a bit of a run! :D Driver knew exactly what had to be done at 11:38 for that long thin board - hate stuff like that which doesn't get pulled in. Good stuff, but bugger there wasn't more large bulky stuff, seemed to be a lot more smaller loose items along this street ey, plenty of crunching but!
Yeah, great truck it was! I only discovered yesterday that these bodies were refurbs by Richards Coachworks so they are old CS Bodies after all! That packer was going constantly and yeah there wasn't many good piles in Monash to be honest as all were the same amount.

Great video. It's amazing they can fit so much in one truck. It would be really interesting to see a video of one of these trucks unloading at the tip site to get an idea of just how compacted the material inside is.

Dan Hodges it gets sorted. The stuff that can’t be recycled goes to,landfill afterwards.

i work on the back of a rear l9ader trash truck and we can hold easily 17 tons of household garbage. i bet that truck will hold about the same or maybe more if they back pack it alot threw out the day.

Bruce Larrow a sorting of plant where they sort out metal and wood for recycling. The rest is either burned for energie or landfilled.
WM has a brand new Acco/MaxiPak 6x4 too, only a few weeks old. It's an actual factory new body not a refurb like this one too.
Will have to keep a look out for it then! Ah so the body in the video is a refurb?

Packer has a violent stabbing motion man, could hurt someone with something shattering. And the driver can start a packing cycle from the cab? That can't be safe.

This truck was for non METAL items. A Scrap Metal truck came after and took items such as bicycle frames!
Interesting but a good idea to keep the recycling stream seperate from the solid waste.

They take everything but the bike? These collectors should not have to pick up all this loose stuff. And oversize in some cases. Also why people park in front of the garbage, just makes it more difficult...
