I love my metal like there is no tomorrow and that's the shit I'm about most of all the things I am about - but THIS song IS the dictionary definition of "Rock 'n Roll." It really should be put into any dictionary as #1 example of what it is, for real. (Rock n' Roll encompassing ALL aggressive, forward guitar.)
Van Halen was Metal. Period. I don't care what some little wet behind the ears shit thinks. Just because it's not what today's players do anymore doesn't change what it was and is. METAL. With out Van Halen you wouldn't even have half the sounds in the metal repertoire. For example in this song alone. How many Rock songs in 1986 had a damn double bass drum part in them? ( 4:55 ) NONE. These guys laid so much ground work for these untalented djentards its not even funny.
Yes, they are Simmons drums. Eddie said years later, he wasn't a big fan of them, as they kind of had a dated sound. He actually said he wishes they didn't use them.
A few big players used them. The ⏳️ keeper, the professor, the one and only Neil Peart. Alex has his tuned very deep, and it makes the sound they never had before.
Actually, on some of these VH instrumentals I've been finding, of either era, I catch myself imagining what the *other* singer would have done with the song. On this one, remembering this album was concurrent with EEAS, I can imagine DLR almost half-singing/half-speaking or even "rapping" his way through it, maybe on the order of "Big Trouble" or "Ladies' Night in Buffalo" . . .
Someone could make a 10 hour loop of the intro to this song and I'd listen to every single second of it. Just a masterpiece.
Sweet Riff, love the build ....drums come in just right time, but riff is so solid ,then takes off , steps down, then back up, luv it
The build up of "Humans Being" is more pronounced and stronger but this is most definitely top 3 of Eddie's master work.
Excellent instrumental track. TY!

Are those electronic drums Alex has in some parts?

@@ronnie_5150 thanks for the info

@@covetprice Interesting. I didn't know the Professor used them. As a guitar player, I just remember Eddie saying he didn't like them. :)
I bet if DLR would have written lyrics for this song it would have been even better.
funniest thing i've heard all day
Hell nah bruh😂

No! DLR would have talked in the middle about his hair and some girl he met at the bar.
@@davidpaul5338 perfect instead of all that soppy cliche predictable boring love talk that sammy wouldn’t shut up about.
