Fascinating video. I have huge respect for small independent farmers such as yourself. A question . . . is all labor on your farm you and your family members, or do you have additional help? I have a small demonstration farm where I have a rabbit barn where I have space for 100 rabbits. The main reason for raising the rabbits is for the poop and urine, which I use as fertilizer, pesticide and soil amendment for our organic vegetable beds, fruit trees, and nut trees. The meat produced is just a free bonus. I find that to manage 100 rabbits, it takes one full time person. Gathering and drying the hay and feed, cleaning the cages, managing the various things like mites and so forth keeps one guy pretty much busy all day. My farm is not to make money, but to try and demonstrate sustainable agriculture techniques to sustenance farmers. We are having a lot of success technically in producing lots of food in a sustainable manner, but we live in a place where local labor is about 30 cents an hour. If I imagine transporting our farm back home to the US, I would simply not be able to make it work, given the amount of labor involved. It would be fascinating if you would share more about how you financially make your operation work. For example, do you have someone in your family working outside the farm to provide a baseline income? How do you handle health insurance costs, which seem to be ridiculously expensive. When I was a child growing up in rural West Texas, almost everyone was a small independent farmer, and was able to comfortably support a family. The same county today, there are maybe two enormous cotton farmers, and everyone else is simply growing hay and goats, and married to a school teacher. It seems over my life small farming has become almost impossible financially, and only the most adept and shrewd, such as yourself, are able to make a go of it. I would love to hear your thoughts on the 'Big Picture', and maybe the keys to your success. Great video, thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the kind words. The Labor on our Farm is Myself and my family members, along with 1 part time helper in the summer months. Yes that is certainly a good idea for a video. We are no different than most small farms here in the USA, someone does have an off the farm job, for insurance and those types of benefits ect. Thank you for watching!

Keeping animals in tiny cages without any kind of mental stimulation or comfort is inhumane, and greedy at best, Cruelty is never justified! My rabbits provide excellent manure for my garden, they are loved and well cared for. Rabbits are intelligent and sweet animals and provide hours of pleasure.

I own a farm around pel-freez in Arkansas have you ever heard of these type of contract growing rabbit operations

Yes I have heard about those types of contract rabbit growing operations. Where I live those types of options and operations do not exist which is why I developed my own market. If you have the opportunity to get a contact with them go for it!

Rabbits are a lean meat. So if your diet is diversified with other sources of protein there will be no need to add additional fats.
