Yes, great memories of good times. I was in high school and the pleasure of watching this video was not as easy as it is today, we had to stay up and wait to see it, man these kids got it made today. i also think about my mom and how young she was then, but I thought she was old. Ha, ha. She's 76 today. I Love you, Mom.
There is an atmosphere about this song that even as a kid got the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. This is a really classic track. It has stood the test of time.
one of the best parts of being a kid in the 80s was growing up to appreciate all the phenomenal music we were exposed to. as a 10 year old I didn't really understand music, but as an adult musician I look back to those years and realize I was around for some of the best music ever written
Anytime you hear a "call back" (repeat or sing next line) on the chorus it gets ppls attention. Especially a falsetto like Frankie Valli then most everyone gets goosebumps or chills.
No way...Holding back tears so that I can watch this. Makes me realise that time is relative. While watching this, Im a young man. The older me, remembers the younger me.
I was in middle school when this came out. I heard it on the radio and made my parents sit in the car with me in the garage until it was done. The production, arrangement, songwriting -- all gorgeous. I decided at that moment I would be a professional musician and music producer. And that's what I am. I'll always be grateful to Tom Bailey and crew for that moment, and this song, in my life.

I’ve lost everything but my son… I used to play this to him and dance in our back garden at our old house… he was about 3 then and that was about 10 years ago… THIS, and Starship, Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now… He was such a fat, chubby, cuddly, happy baby and, somehow, these two songs bring us together throughout all we have lost. Side note: my friend used to play and tour with The Thompson Twins on drums!😊

Nice one! ☺️Their music was an anthem for the 80s. Like a lot of bands that made music then. It really defied a decade, in a happy way. To me the 80s felt like it was summer all the time😌☀️☀️
Back in those days. Music was still meant for freedom! Look at the 60s, 70s. The 80s was a natural progression from something beautiful, into something more beautiful! There was so many interesting styles in the 80s. From punk to new wave to reggae and so on.✌️
There's no more creativity in music anymore. It's always the same. The voices all sound the same and just can't capture the magic of the decades of old. Though contradictory to that statement there are a lot of amazing synth wave of today I discovered a lot of them through this retro wave wallpapers app on my phone that plays retro style synthwave music, my all time favorite would be this song called Still Haunting Me by Magic Dance. I highly recommend it, it needs to be heard. But in general the standard popular music is today just has no magic anymore.
@@GeddyLeeBell There is as much great music today as ever. You forgot or never heard the less popular songs on less successful albums from decades ago -- songs that got little to no radio play. Today, you can find almost anything online if you're willing to listen.

Flicking through the radio stations while taking my son footie training, l happened upon this song and was instantly transported through a wormhole to my teens! Can't describe the emotions that suddenly came over me, and my pining for what were the best years of my life!
This was the heartbeat of the 80's. It has "stayed with me" all this time. TT wrote songs that became a theme for the entire decade. I just heard one that made millions for Dr. Pepper in the same decade. Exquisite.
Oh how I long for such fresh sounds and melodies in this grey era, October 2024. Nothing sounded quite like this, and then the next week another 80's band came up with something completely new, and thus it went on week after week, new new NEW. Creativity, where art thou now?
It was good to go back to a time when we had real music to listen to. How much of the new noise will still be played in 30 years time ? But my money says you will still be able to listen to 60's 70's and 80's music
I'm watching this at 53 and despite the years, despite the pain, despite the neverending scramble of life I'm still that girl who listened to this song so long ago bopping out with her friends. I'm still f*cking ME!
Thanks Lord for giving me the 80s to live through, they were the theme to my youth, they still are, but remembered through misty tearful eyes, we were so happy then.
Tears of gratitude and joy roll down my face as I reflect on the great memories that are attached to this timeless song. I was 14 in 1984 and 53 today. Great times back then. Damn it was so freakin awesome to be a teen in the 80's.
This is one of those 80s songs that your mom used to play when you were a kid, nonstop, took me until I hit my 30s to really appreciate and understand this song and it’s actually one of my favorites now. Love it
Im 50, in 1984 we drove from Portsmouth RI to Kings Dominion Va and we were listening to TT in the car and to our amazement, they were performing at the park when we arrived .. True Story ❤❤
Speaking as an Englishman (for indeed I am one), I don't think we should overlook the Celtic nations contribution to popular music during this period and beyond. When describing the incredible music and talent that has sprung forth from these islands, we should always use the term 'British.' Not a criticism, just an observation.
I have a sister. She took me to Purdue University. Clowes hall. Berlin opened. Before Take my Breath Away. It was just a bit lewd. Still I will never ever forget the BEST Twins EVER.
I lived through the 80s with my sisters. What a great time! Driving around town with the top down listening to great music. Both sisters are gone and I just lost my dad. Now, the music that I love, makes me cry. 😢
The 80s is the decade that I became a young adult. This was a good time to be, we had the best music to listen to. Will never forget the Thompson Twins.
These People's Are Everything... Sharing their all for us. Oh Lord let me live the 1980's again. Be Kind and Love Everyone People, this is our Destiny, our Purpose.
@StephenPaul-wg9mt You are so right, and I couldn't have said it any better. I just wish we all could be kinder and more loving towards each other. But unfortunately, I don't see that happening anytime soon. But I'm still hoping for a miracle. Have a great day, and keep the good vibes going. 😊
Hard to believe TT unleashed this wonder hit 4 decades ago. These British popsters told music fans to " Hold Me Now". Music fans still do even in this day and age!
The 80's music was fab-u-lus there will never be any music again to compare with the fabulous recordings of one single hit after the other. They were all BOSS. Loved those 80's smokin hits. Miss the real 🎵 hits!

Flicking through the radio stations while taking my son footie training, l happened upon this song and was instantly transported through a wormhole to my teens! Can't describe the emotions that suddenly came over me, and my pining for what were the best years of my life!
Doesn't this song make you feel so good inside and sad at the same time because you can't go back to the 80s?
Yes 🥰 😢 ma'am
it does, indeed.
Yep. Id like to go back😭💔👣🙏
Yeah 😢 The best time of my life ❤. Would love to go back.
Nope.
I was only 7 years old in 1.983, but I'll remember this people playing that on the TV. " HOLD ME NOW...". Amazing music. Greetings from BARCELONA.
"Let loving start and Stay with me" are just two legendary phrases. It makes me want to cry when I hear those two phrases.
This was the heartbeat of the 80's. It has "stayed with me" all this time. TT wrote songs that became a theme for the entire decade. I just heard one that made millions for Dr. Pepper in the same decade. Exquisite.
The mid-80's were my high school years. This song was always played at dances, and it brings back such fond memories of my late husband. 😊❤
So sorry for your loss, this was when music meant something. The Thompson Twins, Basia, et al so many great memories.
THE prom night song of the 80s
THE BAND RATT PUTS ME IN THE 80s REAL QUICK.
Popped collars on pastel polo shirts. 🤣
@@MikePenceFly oh yeah! I loved my pastel polos. 😊😊😚

The 80 were a blast all kinds of music 💪
Tony Hawk loves this song.
Great song cobra kai definitely give awesome 80's vibe 😅
Oh how I long for such fresh sounds and melodies in this grey era, October 2024. Nothing sounded quite like this, and then the next week another 80's band came up with something completely new, and thus it went on week after week, new new NEW. Creativity, where art thou now?
Mon, Dad ,Many Thanks for creating me! I was born in 1970, Yes!!! A teen in the 80's, just perfect!
Likewise ….born in 69’….London England 🏴
One of the best 80´s songs
It was good to go back to a time when we had real music to listen to. How much of the new noise will still be played in 30 years time ? But my money says you will still be able to listen to 60's 70's and 80's music
i want the 80's back...😢
Me too!!❤😂❤
And me ❤
Hey !!!!!?
I want the 70's back LMAO
I want it too back, the world and time
was so easy
Me too 😊
I'm watching this at 53 and despite the years, despite the pain, despite the neverending scramble of life I'm still that girl who listened to this song so long ago bopping out with her friends. I'm still f*cking ME!
Thanks Lord for giving me the 80s to live through, they were the theme to my youth, they still are, but remembered through misty tearful eyes, we were so happy then.
Well be HAPPY NOW ! times running out ! .
Tears of gratitude and joy roll down my face as I reflect on the great memories that are attached to this timeless song. I was 14 in 1984 and 53 today. Great times back then. Damn it was so freakin awesome to be a teen in the 80's.
The Wonder Years - what a great time to be alive!
Bring back the good old days.. 80s at its best
American culture peaked right about then.
You’re speaking gospel brother. Freshman year high school for me!!
You know I’m starting to like 80’s music
This is one of those 80s songs that your mom used to play when you were a kid, nonstop, took me until I hit my 30s to really appreciate and understand this song and it’s actually one of my favorites now. Love it
Better late than never?....
❤😊
Always loved this song verse after verse after verse..
@@geraldreid7122 for sure. One of my favorites to listen to.
Yup came out when I was 5 in primary 2 now mid 40’s ish……. Life is short
Im 50, in 1984 we drove from Portsmouth RI to Kings Dominion Va and we were listening to TT in the car and to our amazement, they were performing at the park when we arrived .. True Story ❤❤
Meant to be!
That's so cool! What an awesome memory to cherish!
@@hristoforlupescu8573 it was!!! My late mom played that cassette till it broke lol
Listening to this classic is like going back to that beautiful past of high school, parties, fashion, fleeting courtships, etc.
Love this song and video. English bands of the 80s were the ultimate.
They are always amazing, in the 60ties, 70ies, 80ies, 90ies until now to the 20ies.
Absolutely
Ultimate !!!!
Speaking as an Englishman (for indeed I am one), I don't think we should overlook the Celtic nations contribution to popular music during this period and beyond. When describing the incredible music and talent that has sprung forth from these islands, we should always use the term 'British.' Not a criticism, just an observation.
This song is an example of how with just a few notes but placed in the right place you can make a great song.
I have a sister. She took me to Purdue University. Clowes hall. Berlin opened. Before Take my Breath Away. It was just a bit lewd. Still I will never ever forget the BEST Twins EVER.
I am now in year 2024 n still listening to the 80s.
Me too!❤
@georgelee5820. Amazing, how did you get there 🙄
An absolute timeless classic
I lived through the 80s with my sisters. What a great time! Driving around town with the top down listening to great music. Both sisters are gone and I just lost my dad. Now, the music that I love, makes me cry. 😢
The 80s is the decade that I became a young adult. This was a good time to be, we had the best music to listen to. Will never forget the Thompson Twins.
Like yourself I was a young adult in this decade and as years gone by feel privileged to have experienced those times.
My youth, my innocence, and my love for life stuck with me.
These People's Are Everything...
Sharing their all for us. Oh Lord let me live the 1980's again.
Be Kind and Love Everyone People, this is our Destiny, our Purpose.
Good Boy
@StephenPaul-wg9mt
You are so right, and I couldn't have said it any better. I just wish we all could be kinder and more loving towards each other. But unfortunately, I don't see that happening anytime soon. But I'm still hoping for a miracle. Have a great day, and keep the good vibes going. 😊
How can you not love the Thompson Twins?!?
Her big giant hat bill is so out there! I remember watching this release on MTV, back when they were a thing.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
i dont they are trashy music
The soulless do.
This song deserves 1m likes.
Hard to believe TT unleashed this wonder hit 4 decades ago. These British popsters told music fans to " Hold Me Now". Music fans still do even in this day and age!
Born in 84. By the time i hit primary school in 88 this was my favourite song thanks to my dad. Absolutely timeless.
This is a masterpiece, such an enjoyable song with great lyrics, rhythm, addicting instrumentation!!!
Hold me now
Excellent song after all this years ❤😂
Ahh 84...The days of being in junior school and not a care in the world...simpler, happier times....
I’m immediately transported to the back seat of my dad’s Camaro. Love this song.
The 80's music was fab-u-lus there will never be any music again to compare with the fabulous recordings of one single hit after the other. They were all BOSS. Loved those 80's smokin hits. Miss the real 🎵 hits!
There will never be a time in music like the 80"s!!!!
We loved the Thompson Twins back then! 5/8/2024
The medley is my favorite part
I was 20 when this came out, thinking the future would be so brilliant. The lyrics have become more meaningful every passing year.
Long live the 80' S music it will outlive them all! The 80's were the best 10 years on earth!!
Someone just drove by my crib with this on. Loved their music in the 80s and still today ❤❤❤
