Mercedes McCambridge, star of tonight's story, was heard in 25 episodes of CBS Radio Mystery Theater. Mercedes was the voice of the devil in the movie, The Exorcist. She died in 2004 at age 87.
Her life with her son was a sad story. He killed himself because she wouldn't give him money. And I think he may have killed his wife too; I don't remember.
She had a rough life. She was an alcoholic and then she got over that and her son kept wanting money from her when she didn't give it to him, he killed his family.

This is another very good story! “Sandra” sounds a little like a voice I’ve heard , some German, perhaps……a femme fatale from the early thirties. Kind of like Marlena Dietrich! Another treat to listen to tonight here in Southern Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦, 43*, N. There is a wonderful old short story, from the ‘40’s, called “The Black Bag”. It is about a highly advanced medical bag that accidentally comes back into the wrong time period. With it, anything can be accomplished with the futuristic items in it - even plastic surgery - immediate results! But everything has, as always, a price! It really is very good ! Tomorrow, I will go and look it up and read it - again! What joy it is to have even a small library, with wonderful stories in them: such as this, or Poems, Love Stories, Gardening, even Cookbooks - old Almanacs, Maps, stories of everyday humans, going about their everyday lives. Journals from the past, and stories of dreams still to be in the future. Hope everyone sleeps well tonight, and dreams sweet dreams ! I am enjoying some simple Graham crackers tonight, for a light snack before the Christmas feast soon. They remind me of the many winter nights I spent with my grandmother, listening to all the wonderful stories she used to tell me, and shared crackers like these with me 🙏❤🫠 Goodnight! Fantastic!
