- First time in pretty much a year, back in the Ka-50 Blackshark.
A solid sortie towards the end of the weekend, after getting interrupted by fast jets.
Quite fun :)
Thanks for watching

Enjoyed that...Wouldnt say no to seeing more whirly bird action
I do certainly neglect them, but they're just a little slow (looking at you Huey) and vulnerable that you can sink a lot of time into Helo action and get nothing from it (other than shot down)
But, i will be back no doubt, quieter days :)
An under-loved DCS module. The KA-50 is so well done and such a badass machine, watching this has put me in the mood to get back into it
Do like the shark, probably need to dust it off myself soon :)
Been a long time, but got back into the flow of choppering over the weekend :)
Was hashing together a couple of sorties to make a video, but then had a solid hour flight that went well. Started new video :)
Thanks for watching
Trick to staying out of VRS: Keep above 30knot airspeed, or never exceed 300ft per minute of Vertical airspeed if travelling slowing than 30knot (In a hover for example).
I miss Bob the co-pilot!
He'll be back some day :)
Just when I wanted to see more Ka-50, you're a legend.
Glad to be of service
"We got a Black Hawk Down, we got a Black Hawk Down" (with Hans Zimmer theme) - EPIC !!
@hellreign82 I was the other Ka-50. :) I always get excited to see others in it, and usually try to follow and hit their same targets. Just fun to have multiple helicopters in an AO doing stuff.
And yeah I was on comms with other Redfor and I was moving towards a gazelle that was sighted 3nm to our left so I broke off, unfortunately into the jaws of that F-18 that I didn't know about.
Great fun and was fun flying with you! :)
Ah nice bud, was gutted when you got hit. I lost sight of that Hornet and just hid for a while :)
I did see a speck which could have been the Gazelle, but lost that also. Then just turn and ran :D
Catch you out there again no doubt o7
Ahah, Helicopters are so fun in DCS, it offers you a real new version of the Map :)
Nice flight instead, thanks for sharing :)
Your Buddy and Bandit comments are hilarious.
13:16 *you’re scaring me* 😂
Glad you're enjoying them, thanks for watching
I love sharks - the swimming and the flying ones😬.
Maybe I'm seeing things wrong, but you seem to be under the same confusion about the autopilot systems that most people are.
The autopilot channels also turn on dampers, so ideally you want to leave pitch, roll and heading channels on all the time. The problem is that trim also sets the autopilot bugs, so people either struggle with the trim or start turning off channels like you did. Some people turn on the flight director like you also did, but it's yet another button to press and leaves you without autopilot.
What most people do is fight the autopilot with the stick (and thus overcompensate against the AP's authority), then tap trim. What this does is set the autopilot bugs but then forces the autopilot to fight against the overcompensated trim position. Players then try to overcompensate further and trim again, thus compounding the issue.
The correct procedure is to leave the channels on and HOLD the trim button when you want to move the stick, releasing the button when you have met your desired flight profile (heading, pitch and roll). Trim and autopilot are only set when you release the trim button, but the autopilot is disconnected when the button is pressed (effectively the same as turning on flight director temporarily) while still leaving the dampers on. The end result is that the stick is trimmed to where the autopilot wants it to be and you have the ability to take manual control with the dampers still active whenever you want; a sort of ad hoc flying if you will.
Thanks for the info bud. I haven't learnt/flown the BS enough to fully understand it admittedly
Great to see you back in the shark! Another banger, as always. A little tip for those rockets, the fire selector switch (low/med/high) also controls the salvo mode. Low being pairs, med being 25% of your rockets and high being 50% of your rockets as a salvo.
Enjoyed your Shark flight immensely.
I'll probably be back in it at some point
Hopefully with similar success
You seem to be fighting the autopilot/trim system quite a bit, which a lot of people do until they take the time to read up on how it works.
Ideally you want to leave all the channels engaged, except maybe ALT, and depress the trimmer whenever you maneuver, and release it once you're back on course. While you hold down the trimmer the AP is paused so you have full authority, and once you release it it will hold your trimmed condition.
It took me far too long to figure this out... thanks man
It's strange to see you in a helo but also a nice surprise at the same time. Great video!
Bit of variety now and then never hurt :)
Thanks for watching
Good to see you back in a chopper. Miss your Huey adventures with your tortured copilot.
He'll be back soon hopefully, nearly finished his counselling :D
If you flip the auto/manual switch up, you don't have to rotate the aircraft to get the circle in the reticle to fire the vikhr. There is a button right below the master arm that has some plastic around it. Right below that on the very left is the auto/manual switch. You still need the aircraft pointed in the general direction, but as long as you turn on the rotate to shkval, it should work.
I will look for that, thanks for the tip. I know I turn on some sort of tracking, as the craft does follow the slew of the shkval a little, but not precisely
Helo formation flying - Awesome vid as always. You make it look so easy.
How do you fly than thing so well? Last time I used it I tapped the joystick and the rotors just fly off lol
Not gonna lie the heli videos are among my fav, that and CAS
Ngl expected ya to yeet vikhr at that hornet in AA mode. Cant wait for the new ka50 cockpit and iglas.
Was going to try, but I lost sight of him/he left after that
But yes, some air defence is going to be great :)
God it’s been years since I’ve even sat in the KA50, although I must say this looks fun. Might be time to brush off the cobwebs
Definitely worth a visit, even for the change of pace
Hellreign82 yep think you’re right, She was the very first DCS Module I ever got, In fact I was so desperate to get my hands on it, and even went and got Russian money card, just so I could order it from the Russian store, a few months before it came out in the UK. Must have bought that helo 4 times, 1 x Russian DVD, 1 x English DVD, 1 x English download and 1 x English update. 😂😂😂😂
Deja vu..Was just looking at mine last night -- way off in the corner of the hanger with about an inch of dust on her....
Definitely worth dragging it out for a quick airing
@@Hellreign82
I know, right? Thanks for the inspiration.
Excellent video Hellreign! Very much enjoyed some whirley action in DCS. Plans for more?
I imagine the choppers will be back, they just take more time to get something worth while out of :)
I don't get a lot of free time these days
Nice dude! I was actually going to ask you on your next video if you could take this thing out for a spin, but here it is :) Maybe next you could fly the mig 19; you are the only channel with an actual gameplay video of it and the first time you flew it was awesome!
Actually took the 19 out last night to see if I could remember how to use it, so it may make an appearance soon™
Can't wait for the ka-50 refresh.
It's been years since I flew the ka-50 so I may be wrong, but I believe you can use the helmet mounted sight and slew the gun to wherever you are looking (within limits).
I've got it mapped on my hotas, just always forget to use it :)
will try next time
This is just ... amazing love this gameplay
Reminds me that I have the KA-50 and that I have no idea how to fly helicopters... Need to learn!
Yeah, you should sink some time into them, the Ka-50 anche the Mi-8 are very fun, and I fly jets mainly.
Me too dude but I don't have rudder pedals so it is a bit difficult
@@truc2fou915 if you have a steering wheel with pedals, you can bind those to the rudder.
I can’t get enough of the Mi-8 (haven’t got the hang of the ka-50 yet), love that thing. It’s gust one little thing, when ever I go into a hover, my left engine fails and things tend not to end well.
I used to be good at the black shark. :(
Maybe I should spend sometime learning again with the update coming soon.
Awesome!!
Man what I would give for a western attack Helo...Hopefully soon! I'd kill for an apache with a jester AI
Cobra coming soon™
how do you zoom in slow like that? is it an axis option?
I'm using two buttons for the zoom rather than an axis.
Slow zoom in/Out
What do you use to control the Shkval? I must have it.
Combo of the mini-stick on the throttle and the default keyboard buttons for fine tuning.
Mini stick works really well in all the other modules for slew, just not in the BS :(
KA-50!
Did the Ka-50 get its pit update? Or am I just going bonkers?
Bonkers
Update is on its way
Phew, I wondered for a moment. Maybe we'll get it when the hind drops lol
What's your HOTAS?
It's in the description, look at "My PC specs."
Nice vids bro
want to get into helos in DCS. Would this module be a good place to start?
It's a fun helo to fly the trickiest thing to get around is the autopilot and flight director modes. But once mastered you can be quite lethal.
I started with the black shark, I think the Huey is an easier learning curve though
Ka-50 is good to learn choppers: it has some systems to get familiar with, easy to fly with its automation, rather capable platform. I mean, it was their very first module, sooo :3
its not like the huey or mi-8 who are basically just trucks with wings ^.^
If you want to just 'learn helos' ie. learn the basics of rotary winged flight the Huey is an excellent start because it's so simple and exactly what you'd expect from a traditional helo. The Ka50 is not like that at all, but certainly a lot more useful at blowing things up (as mentioned, a lot of fiddly auto modes and autopilot 'helpers' which can get in the way if you don't master them)
As others have said really; Huey for true/simpler Helo flight. BS for a capable and very useful platform with more to learn
More more more!!!
Instead of playing i'm watching your videos... what is wrong with me :D they are great keep distracting us :)
Speck check, all on the floor
Speck check, give me some more
Speck check, 'till you get sore
Speck check, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Channel theme song
nice
You think that the ka-50 2.0 that they building will take too much time to be release? Cause I really want to play a chopper, and KA-50 looks be the most promising to me.. So I don't know if I spend money now buying this version now or wait the newst version...
I think if you buy this version, you'll be free upgraded with the new, so .. :)
@@zanck6817 You sure about it? heard ppl saying that it could be a new purchable module... and not a update for the old version...
@@RUMI.137 I definitely hope it, because i have the actual version ^^
This could be bad
Not free, the model and cockpit are free, but the functionality will be a paid upgrade.
forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3930888&postcount=198
You will get the new 3D model and texturing upgrade for free but they are adding some systems to it that will require an upgrade purchase. This will be the 4th time I have bought the Black Shark. Original on disc. Then the digital version as I my DVD drive died and didn't see the use in another one. Then the upgrade to BS2, now the upgrade to this new updated version when it is available. And it has probably been at least a year since I have even fired it up.
A helicopter sortie without getting shot down!?
My was fortune smiling upon you that day.
And boy does the cockpit modeling not look that good. Definitely needs a retexturing.
The only sortie of the weekend where I didn't get shot down. Probably more out of pity :D
It's on it's way, the rework. Looking forward to the new systems too
Nice, subbed.
Welcome to the channel :)
do u got a 4k screen?
Nope. 27" IPS 1440p
@@Hellreign82 I don't get how you are so good at seeing enemies then
MI-28 NEXT!
Get to the Choppa
