- I've had this question a few times on the channel. Can you record vocals with the Spark, and if so, how does it sound?

loving the way you are presenting these Jason, well done as always..sounds great!
I hope you get some big support from the Positive Grid guys! They way you are presenting the spark in every Video is better than any advertisement they could do! Great work!
yeah, they should totally give me free stuff given all the free promotion they're getting! 😂
I loved your harmony’s . Keep playing friend you give out great vibes.
Thanks very much!
Good job demonstrating something we probably won't use, but could in a pinch!
The spark is hands down amazing
Very good demo. I was wondering how it would sound with vocals. I also was wondering about that Greg Wells plug-in. You answered both my questions. Thank You so much.
Nice job again Jason ! It’d be really nice someday that you make a video on how you master acoustic guitar with plugins
Keep up the good work, Jason! Much appreciated...
Great video ! That shows that spark is versatile ! So to sum that up, if we want record one instrument at a time, spark is a good studio interface. What if we want to record voice and guitar same time ? What do you advise for that ? For example can we plug guitar to spark then spark and voice mic to audio interface like focusrite and then to computer and DAW ? Anyway i love your UA-cam channel 👍😍
Thank you for update and information!!!
Wow thanks for making this! It's exactly what I'm looking for and I don't think anyone else ever tried this.
How would you rate the dry vocal signal of the Spark vs the Scarlett?
I think it would depend on the song. In a softer, less busy song, the scarlett would sound much better, but in a rock, or busier song, I the nuances in the vocals wouldn't matter as much. Overall, yes, a good interface would sound better.
Great video! How do you set up the spark to record vocals? I have gone through each of the Amps in the app and turned off the digital pedals but they still all sound different. Is there a way to have it completely neutral? The rock amps sound too sharp and the acoustic ones don’t make enough sound
Excellent ! Great record and vocals! 👍👍👍
Cool 😎 nice job ... .wich settings for the spark you used???
I turned off all effects and amps so it just acts as an audio interface.
Can u do all the recording with just the spark and nothing else.???
Gifted technician.
Thanks for the tip...🎤🎵🔊👍
would had been neat to hear the dynamic mic through the Scarlett.
Thank you for the useful video. Can I apply this method to Sparkgo models as well?
I would say yes, but I haven't tried as I don't own the other Spark models.
@@cleverdood thank you for your reply!!
This is great. Thanks for the helpful vids! Can the same results be achieved with the Yamaha THR?
It should, yes, but I haven't tried it.
there are some condenser microphones that come with their own phantom power. I need to see if there is a way to hook it up. Ive got a carvin CM87S a 20 year old mic .
Great experiment, thank you! 🎉 I wish the Spark had two inputs, one for Guitar and one for Vocals.. wondering if 2 jacks (Guitar / Vocals) were to be combined into 1 jack with a 2-to-1 adapter, would there really be a problem? If anyone knows, please let me know. Cheers!
You could. No idea if it would damage anything but both signals would get processed the same way!
@@cleverdood thank you very much for your reply :-) I guess, since the amp processes a wider range of frequencies (as a guitar + bass amp), it might not damage it. I need to find an amp technician close to me and ask - and do you know what, I’m gonna let you know what the results here, when I do!
wow so everything is possible!
Cool Tune, can you put up the lyrics to that? Would love to play that. I do Hate Workin. Also said you were going to do a cover of that, could not find and would love to see it. Working on Mondo Cozmo Cigarette now.
awesome video. I've this amp and I wanted to buy an SM57 to record my classical guitar, one quick question please: for the sm57 will I need a preamp or the signal is just fine? thank you!
The SM57 has a notoriously low signal, but I’m not sure if I’d run a pre-amp through the Spark. I would guess it would work, but I don’t know if it would damage anything.
Mic is the one making sound difference
Hi, first of all, nice video helped me a lot, and about the mic will Mackie EM-89D work with the spark for recording? I didn't really understand what u said at the beginning of the video about what mic will work with it, thanks
It should yes. There are basically 2 types of mics (dynamic and condenser). "Condenser" mics need something called "phantom power" to boost the signal but "dynamic" mics don't. I am pretty sure the Mackie EM-89D doesn't need phantom power, but check their website to make sure.
@@cleverdood Ok thank you(:
Dude, are you from Sarnia?? I've been living in Australia for 20 years but I was born and raised there. Caught your vid as I just ordered a Spark.
born and raised there, yes! Well, a small town between Sarnia and Wallaceburg, but close enough!
How did tou have the Spark set for recording the vocals?
I bypassed everything on the Spark so it’s just sending a dry signal.
just got my Spark Amp yesterday and loving it so far. I am wondering if it is possible to use wireless headphones instead of wired?
It is not from what I’ve read. The Bluetooth capability comes in but doesn’t output to devices like wireless headphones.
@@FKal1970 thanks for the feedback. Bummer.
Yes! That's what I use. You need an Aptx low latency transmitter and headphones with aptx low latency. I use Sennheiser 450bt with a Taotronics Bluetooth transmitter. No wires no latency
I would like to record simple videos for UA-cam with my guitar and talking while using the Spark. Is the new Spark recording feature the way to do this through my app from my phone? If so, does the Spark record in the correct UA-cam format needed? Thanks anyone that can assist!
it'll record based on whatever device you're using. On my iphone, it saves the video to the camera roll so you can upload that directly to youtube.
Jason Little Perfect - that’s what I was hoping to find out
Obviously, a condenser mic is going to sound more crisp. But the dynamic didn’t sound bad at all
can someone provide some names or links to the mic and adapter that we need to buy for playing vocals with positive grid spark
there's a link in the description with the cable you need. Make sure you use a dynamic mic (not a condenser mic) that doesn't need phantom power.
Different question. Can you plug in a voice input from a mic at the same time as you are playing guitar? In other words, play and sing at the same time, live, not recording? I would imagine this requires 2 separate inputs and two separate channels. I would be using it in a busking situation.
sort of, but you would need a mixer. So you could hookup a mic and guitar to the mixer and then connect the output of the mixer to the input on the Spark. A Korg Konnect or something similar would be better though.
Can you plug up your mic and use your acoustic with the Spark? And if so can you record that way?
Has anyone tried a Bluetooth mic to use this as a mini PA?
Couldn't you use a bluetooth microphone and connect it to the spark?
Good question, I suppose it would probably work, but I don’t have one to try it out.
You could also get a guitar with microphonic pickups. Lol.
...Spark has one plug- in that the guitar uses up, so how can the mic be plugged- in..??...That part is vague.....
that's the first thing I talk about...did you bail out of the video within 20 seconds?
Jason, can I use the Spark with a microphone as a speaker? I have the Spark and I need a speaker for a small group gathering. Can I use the Spark to amplify a speaker’s voice?
you could by using a dynamic mic but an actual PA speaker would likely sound much better since the Spark isn't really designed for that.
Spark live offers phantom
which didn't exist when I made this video...
