When I was a kid I had a wallpaper of E46 Coupe on the wall of my room. The E39 has been released. I was a hige fan f BMW and believed the future cars they make would be even better. I just realized that drivers of RHD cars have to navigate increasingly complex screens with their left hands. I always thought that shifting left-handed would be hard, but something that you could get used to. But more people are right handed and navigate their smart phones right handed, so that seems like a hard transition to make to me.

I tend to disagree about challenging yourself to get to work on electric only. 43 miles is more than enough for my daily driving needs. Maybe not true for everyone but if you can only have one car and want both sport and some utility this could work great.
I drive a plug in hybrid, When fully charged, acceleration is faster than just using the engine. Plus you fill up your gas tank once a month or so. it is nice.
Feels a bit underwhelming in terms of design when you realise its almost indistinguishable from the i5 M60. Not being able to incorporate the trademark M gill at the front wheel arch is a bit of an L for me too. Not even on the other side where there is no charge port? Also I heard this weighs 500kg more than the old car, when AMG can do a performance hybrid with almost half the weight penalty. I personally don't need such a big battery in a performance car. As an M lover, not so convinced yet.
If you wanna go really really fast between charges go tesla plaid, if you wanna go slower but with build quality and turn heads go M5, with a very mild tune im sure its going up to 850hp

It is just the way cars are going. Stronger safety regulations, plush motorised seats, bigger wheels, bigger brakes, and a redundant hybrid battery and powertrain, etc. It all adds up. The new Mercedes AMG GT weighs 2.0 tonnes despite a full aluminium body, compared to 1.6 tonnes for the outgoing model - that’s not a sports car any more either. The AMG GT weighs the same as my Porsche Macan S SUV! It’s a real shame. These are all fast cars but they are certainly not sporty. We’re losing any sense of feel in the steering and cornering, and all we get now is absurd levels of straight line acceleration that you’ll never be able to use on the roads. You can only really enjoy driving in a light car, and you don’t need nearly this much horsepower.

New bmws are already heavy, now they added hybrid system and by the numbers it seems there is no performance gains with added power because it is so heavy obviously we have to wait for real life tests I could be wrong but imo hybrid doesn't suit it.
The first M5 that I can't get excited about since the 80s, when I learned to appreciate M division motor cars. This is not what motoring enthusiasts desire. Too bloated, too complicated, too heavy.
Plug in hybrids are for reducing taxes… on companies, and are of little benefit to drivers. 90% of owners poodle around on petrol and whatever power the car can regen for itself but the battery hybrid system weighs 400+kg. Meanwhile over at Porsche they made a hybrid system that gives a boat load of torque, gives you brake regen, but it only weighs 50kg more. If you’re gonna say, oh but if you use electric only, it’s more better… then you should have gotten an electric car. Plug in EVs don’t actually save fuel for its owners. It saves emission taxes for BMW

@@DioTheGreatOne comparing holy trinity with m5 is wrong at first place, cars like sf90 can benefit from removed driveshaft going to front wheels and old cars like p1 could benefit from e power that fills the gap between turbo lag and shifts but m5 is like none of them.
New bmws are already heavy, now they added hybrid system and by the numbers it seems there is no performance gains with added power because it is so heavy obviously we have to wait for real life tests I could be wrong but imo hybrid doesn't suit it.

@@joshgee8714 Nope. The outgoing model had 591 hp, but the competition model had 617 whp, which means bhp was probably in the high 600s somewhere.
At that weight I would be shit scared to have physics tap me on the shoulder when exploring its potential.

The first M5 that I can't get excited about since the 80s, when I learned to appreciate M division motor cars. This is not what motoring enthusiasts desire. Too bloated, too complicated, too heavy.

Plug in hybrids are for reducing taxes… on companies, and are of little benefit to drivers. 90% of owners poodle around on petrol and whatever power the car can regen for itself but the battery hybrid system weighs 400+kg. Meanwhile over at Porsche they made a hybrid system that gives a boat load of torque, gives you brake regen, but it only weighs 50kg more. If you’re gonna say, oh but if you use electric only, it’s more better… then you should have gotten an electric car. Plug in EVs don’t actually save fuel for its owners. It saves emission taxes for BMW
