I feel like I've really found a HiFi happiness and passion in B&O. Not having to worry about amps, receivers, cables, DACs, etc. And avoiding the fear of thinking I could have made better decisions with infinite other combinations of equipment. I find myself just turning B&O speakers on, streaming music, enjoying my favourite tracks, and just trusting the system. That comfortability comes at an annoyingly high price though. - Great video as always!
I feel the same way about B&O. I know they're not perfect in terms of measurements, but no speaker gets listened to more in our home than one of their products.
Dude same glad another max knows what’s up. B&O is audio enjoyment even tho I do enjoy moving my speakers and subs around. Also great choice for second hand market, everything is built like a tank, serviceable, and can also be used with their modern gear.
Andrew, you and I suffer from the same type of Hi Fi malty. I bought a pair of R-700 polks, because they were within my budget and didn’t sound half bad. Im a retired engineer so i have some electrical skills and like to tinker. I started by replacing the tweeter with a mid grade morel, while an improvement, not what I was hoping for. So, I just forked over 1k for the morel elate carbon tweeter. I also replaced the 6 1/2’’ mid range with a car speaker I had laying around and were 4 ohms so I had to put a potentiometer on it because it was too loud. After I get my new tweeters I’ll replace the mid with something better. I n the long term I’ll probably replace all the speakers that came stock. I building something that would cost significant money to buy complete. Plus I enjoy tinkering. Wish me luck and thanks Andrew, for operating a great channel .
Kristi, you truly are a Texan. Loyal, completely honest in expressing your thoughts, and with great taste in the arts (well, the last one is just you). Gotta join the growing chorus. You and Andrew are a great team. Thank you both.
It does for me now. The solution was building a dedicated listening room in my basement, from scratch, room treated and all. The "equipment chase" then ended. Room accoustics is by far the most important aspect to how your system sounds.
This is so interesting. I can tell you HiFi has no monopoly on FOMO and snake-oil. My other hobbies include amateur radio, woodworking, computer programming, and competitive shooting. My wife is an equine gal who shows, competes in equestrian events, carriage driving, etc. There are "experts" everywhere and constant churn on gear.
I am happy with my HIFI because of Kristi ,& Andrew talking to us about the rule of diminishing returns and bringing so many entry level products that hit way above their price point . Their philosophy just makes so much sense . I am as happy as legally possible. ❤🎉
🎉 love it! Thanks for the response and I’m glad we all had fun! 😂 so now you’ve got me searching for the perfect product I will integrate in my room without notice and that to me is actually my soundbar. And you’re right Kristi, the ability to chill virtue. Thanks to you both!
Marantz has become the cannabis dispensary of audio. A bewildering array of similar products, price points, potencies, and promised effects, and at a certain point you just have to pick one, take it home, and be happy.
With my McIntosh amp/preamp freshly serviced, panels and lamps properly illuminated for the first time in over a decade I can truly say I’m as happy as I’ve been since the day I bought this gear 27 years ago. I swear it sounds better now! And it didn’t cost a fortune to achieve.
Andrew’s comments about products getting out of their own way so that you can enjoy the actual goal of that product remind me of what Steve Jobs said about the best technology being “like magic”. Andrew and Steve both understand (understood) that it’s all about the experience and not the thing. Thank you for this.
Thanks for answering my question, and the leap you took towards discussing a vintage amp and an 'older style of sound' was spot on. I really enjoy the sound signature of a lot of vintage amplifiers - particularly Harman Kardon. For me a musical sounding amplifier is one that is engaging and makes you tap your feet, and not all amps manage that. Some exacting / detailed amplifiers just don't have any soul to the sound. Luscious to me is pretty much the embodiment of how you described vintage amps 😁 Thanks for your advice Kristi and Andrew, and I look forward to the upcoming Cambridge Audio review 😊
I’ve had so many times where I’ve come close to ripping out all of my audiophile crap, buying a Wiim Ultra and a pair of powered monitors and one subwoofer. The amount of time and energy I waste trying out new gear and projects to only decide to keep my old stuff because I can’t decide what I like better.
When I was younger I used to genuinely believe hobby whales when they said that you never stopped searching for perfection, but every time I found something truly good I just... stopped. The only thing that beckoned me to upgrade was an actual upgrade. I'm fine with my setup right now, and I know exactly what I'd get if my living situation changed.
Good morning! I am very happy with my system! Sure there may be better, but the ability for mine to play my music, and beautifully is just so very satisfying!!!
That is all that matters, and I'm so happy you're happy and able to enjoy the hobby on a more entertaining level every day. Thanks so much for watching!
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Just want to clarify, I think my system is excellent! On an audio level as well as entertainment-wise. I don’t think these two concepts need to be mutually exclusive!🥰
Been a long day today. Listening to this episode helped me relax. Love the philosophical musings. Also while I moved on from a CXA81 I look forward to your upcoming review. Best to you guys.
LOLOLOL, I love your banter regarding trying to watch shows together. Strong relationships are built on crappy shows! Seriously, loved the topics. With over 20 years in retail electronics... I confirm and agree with All of your statements. The summit is truly in the eye of the beholder. I just wish it didn't take me so long to find my summit. I am there for now but aesthetically, I am still wanting more. The devil on my shoulder vs. I am happy with the current sound.... that is my current delema. Thanks for the weekly conversation, this week had me rolling! :)
Yay, I got the episode number shout out! :) Edit: *And* my comment! Thanks for the answer, very informative! I was leaning towards the Yamaha too, but wanted to make sure I was covering my bases!
In the last couple years I have gotten into the DIY Audio world. I have built my own speakers (GR-Research) and have built all my own cables from digital to RCA to speaker cables. This has me enjoying my system more then I ever have in the past 20+ years. You get such a fulfillment over just buying a off the shelf speaker.
Ah hah, The Myth of Sisyphus. I spent 15 years searching, listening and upgrading. Then found "my" audiophile peace and happiness. My amplification and speakers are over 20 years old. Sure I paid a fortune, but every time I turn it on I sink into the music. I've deliberately avoided talking about my favorite brand or a product because it's not important. What counts is when you find your setup and then focus on the music. Andrew & Kristi, love what you do.
Very true. There is so much peace in feeling content. Btw, I loved reading about Greek mythology in HS, but I don't recall learning about Sisyphus so that question ended up being a great lesson for me!
@@KristiWright Kristi, I cannot recommend too highly the short book "The Myth of Sisyphus" by French Philosopher Albert Camus. It perfectly captures what you and Andrew were discussing.
Andrew talks about the modern "perfect". I'm a very keen photographer and there is a major trend in modern lenses that mimic antique lenses. Focus is not perfect and they are often slower, but they render an image differently. For portrait photography they can be quite magical.
@@Celestialrob Andrew and I are both once professional photographers. I remember when Tilt-shift lenses were a thing. I had a Helios lens at one point but never quite got it to work with my Nikon. Now, you see that lens in movies and TV all the time. It bugs us both so much.
@@KristiWright ah hah, the helios, then you totally get the whole character thing with lenses. Just bought a chinese copy of a Carl Zeiss Biotar (swirly bokeh) 75/1.5. Love it. have a great weekend.
I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-72TXV receiver (Craigslist), a Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai DVD player (again Craigslist), a pair of Klipsch RP-600M II's, an SVS SB-2000 Pro subwoofer (2.1 system) and quality audio cables and I couldn't be happier with my system. For what I paid for everything, it sounds absolutely phenomenal! The QPR is outstanding!
I would have agreed with the separates with nothing until this past year. My HK integrated died and I bought a Marantz SR8015 and the imaging is crazy even before I bought the surround channels. I still use a HK vintage receiver in my dedicated 2 ch rig, but the Marantz is better in most ways. The HK does have a warmer sound with more emphasis on the bass (which I enjoy).
PRAT - in the 80's there were clearly amps that somehow communicated the rhythm of rock, blues and jazz better than others. I can't explain the physics, but I experienced it many times.
I’m fortunate that I’m happy with my most recent modest stereo rig. I researched diligently and made my choices based on my budget. No financing. I’ve downsized on gear and living space. I am thoroughly enjoying my music and don’t think about what others have. I do want to add a streamer. Waiting for sales. 👍🏼😎🎶
Okay everybody I'm about to tell you how it's done -- and I'd love to take credit for this but it's Bob Franseca's idea and it totally works. Instead of trying to have one system that you never decide could sound better, have three much cheaper systems (or at least three much cheaper sets of speakers) and each time you feel like you need to go out and dump your wallet on a countertop someplace, just switch instead. I've got a pair of PSB Alpha T20's, a pair of Fyne Audio F301i stand-mounts, and a 25-year-old pair of Onkyo D-202AX Limited, and they all sound great. And when I feel like I should give the Opera Prima 2015 Bookshelf another listen, I just change to one of the other pairs that I already own, and they sound spectacular all over again -- just for being different.
same. i dont have the nice gear you have but i do switch out my klipsch rp600mII's, kef q350's & jamo s803's and the difference in soundstage, clarity and overall tonal quality of each pair excites my ears and i find myself immersed in my music all over again without spending another dime. your advice is sound. (pun intended) cheers.
@@stevetech5150 The thing that fascinates me about your reply is that I see your list as significantly superior to mine. The Fynes cost me $260 brand new, the PSB's were $650 brand new, and the Onkyo's were $280 and purchased when they were already 25 years old. We don't have anything remotely like the same tastes in tonal palette -- your shit is BRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGHHHHT, dude -- but your system is unambiguously better. You couldn't be in the same room with the Fynes; they'd drive you crazy. You'd run out and buy aftermarket supertweeters and set them as low as they could possibly go. :D :D :D
This was a GREAT video to watch. I had so much fun listening to both Kristi and Andrew talk about your "who done it" discussions while watching movies/series. My wife (a photographer) and I (analytical) are the same way. She gets so mad when I figure out the script work (that person that showed up for just a few seconds for no reason must have done it). My Murder Mystery Recommendation: The Perfect Couple on Netflix. Script could be better...but it kept me guessing.
I'm happy when I'm actively listening or watching content I enjoy. When I'm bored with the content, I look around the room and think about upgrades. When I'm working and would rather be watching a movie or listening to a record, I pass the time listening to podcasts and UA-cam, but don't really let them steer my feelings about my systems. I know where my weak points are and what I will upgrade when I can, and I like to stay in the loop for potential products to fit the bill of what I need. I don't have typical upgradeitis, I'm not talked into upgrades, I'm not looking for upgrades, I know what needs upgraded.
Condolences on the result Saturday-lots of parity due to NIL and the transfer portal. Bear in mind, the season is NOT over with a loss (says the Notre Dame fan).
Happiness depends on price. Say you come across a pair of new $5000 speakers for $2000, from a bankruptcy sale, wearhouse sale, whatever. Sure there may be better speakers out there, but you're always going to be happy due to the deal that you got.
I think i have found happiness. I just enjoy listening to my favourite music with my Cambridge Audio CXA60+CXC+A Pair of DALI Zensor 7. I feel is a perfect system for my home. I don't seek perfection, maybe I'm not a true audiophile, who knows... But your Channel is addictive. You both make an awesome content.
Sound reproduction is still a long way off from being indistinguishable from the real thing. Neither the recording side, nor the playback side seems to particularly care. The Loudness Wars have blighted at least 2 generations of recordings. Let's hope someone has stored the original recordings safely. One day we might get to hear them as they were actually recorded.
Yes it does ! The all new Popori Acoustics Loudspeakers will be at the 2024 Capital AudioFest in Room 840, you don't want to miss this one...maybe the New Holy Grail of Speakers ?!
I wonder how much others are disappointed with sound because of bad recordings? I know the more resolute the system can be the more upset you get when everything is not present. So many recordings lack in bass or treble or are mixed in just a way that doesn't sound good.
I've lived through the evolution of vinyl > cassette tapes > CD > MP3+ and before this channel, I never once thought of the recording quality. Even when I was married to a musician, it was never something that was talked about. I wonder if people didn't get so deep into the weeds of this stuff if they'd be happier.
@@KristiWright I did too... What I was saying is that people might not understand formats or recording quality. They just understand that some things sound good. Then want it all to match. My roommate is a good example. Told me the other day his blu-ray sounded really good through his tv while streaming didn't. Wants it all to match, yet doesn't understand the difference. Even those of us that do understand the difference still want everything to somewhat match. It creates it's own issue where you know how good it can sound.
@@KristiWright Hi Kristi, could you please advise on the colours you used to paint the walls and ceiling in your room? It looks lovely, wish to emulate it in my cinema room
@@aoaaron6166 The walls behind Andrew's A-camera (talking head) are white. The main product wall where the TV is mounted is not paint but fabric. The entire wall is made of fabric covered frames that are pressure fit to the wall. Behind the fabric is acoustic material. Unfortunately, I don't know the name/color of the fabric.
Just got the NAD CE 3050, the “wooden cabinet” seems to be vinyl wrapped metal and the $1400 version didn’t come with BluOS. Sounds great but I don’t know, missed the mark for me. I’m returning for the Stereo 70S.
I’m with Andrew, the cinema 30 ticks most boxes and would be the one I recommend to anyone who wants to go Marantz. It also has the toroidal transformer and big screen (tv) and most of the inputs and outputs you could ask for. It does plug the gap between the model 30 and model 10. Also, as a tip the c30 can decode atmos into stereo if it is configured to to 2 channels only in the speaker configuration menu. This might sound obvious, but if you set it to stereo using the app or remote it decodes pcm 2.0, instead dolby or dts. The rest of the cinema line can do this too and it’s worth knowing if you want a stereo system which can also decode various audio formats.
This is a great episode. Reminds me of the Kanto Yu 5.25 review that brings to mind..."Do I need more than this?". This may be my virgin ears to really high quality HiFi equipment but seriously, do I need more than my WiiM amp and Kanto Yu 5.25?
I have the Sony STR DH 190 receiver, the PSLX BT 310 turntable and the SSC5 Speakers with a Onkyo DXC390 6 CD Changer I know it probably the most modest system that will be listed here in the comments but it sounds good to me and fit my budget. And I like it.
So, Andrew is analytical. Welcome to the club brother. I have found that I enjoy music listening more when I am on the tired side or have had a splash of adult beverage to dull the analytical side. After all, what do you have to lose?
Hellos Andrew and Kristi, thanks for the video today! As always I appreciate your time and passion put into your videos and reviews. Curious, for a stereo sound system, you didn’t mention any tube amplifiers with pre amps. At least I did not catch it if you did. Would this be a good alternative to the marantzs digital amplifiers. Also I have found happiness in Hifi, I simply ignore all the things I want and live in the moment, just happy to have a stereo that makes me happy to see and listen to! Hope you all have a great weekend ahead!
Philosophical exercise: is the question backwards? Isn't the deeper construct whether HiFi exists in happiness ie as a mere component of fulfilled people? I think that answer is yes. Conversely I think anybody who tries to find happiness or Maslovian self-actualization within HiFi ie only, is not a whole person. But better HiFi than say, spendy watches. At least A/V gear is "just" a machine for connecting to and enjoying the creativity of others. As opposed to IMHO trying to impress them. Or worse, trying to impress yourselves? Keep up the good work A & K. You're great. Ps. I do want Silver Marantz incl Cinema 70++
The new SVS sub in the background perhaps? I’m really looking forward to a sub review as I feel that that’s where my system is most lacking. Please go into crossover settings and volume to get a more stable and precise response. Thanks for the awesome video as always!!!
I think I am somewhat in the middle when it comes to chasing Nirvana vs. just enjoying what I have. My main source for music is streaming from a personal music server and it has been like that for close to two decades or so (SlimServer), so while I do have a somewhat fancy turntable and so on I have stopped investing in the source and I only really use it in a process where I on occasion digitize some vinyl to put on my server. Through experimenting I have taken the pre-amp out of the chain when I stream, so I simply do server->optical->DAC->power amp->speakers with volume control being me just controlling what the server send to the DAC. This has minimized the number of components to thinker with, so that and the fact I think I do have the best amp I could dream of it has made me more just enjoy music. Full disclosure though - I do at times wonder if a different DAC would be better and maybe, someday the speakers need either a work over or replacement🙂 Plus maybe a A9 would be nice for the bedroom.
I failed at being an audiophile before I even got started. I went into a listening room, got them to play the same song on the same brand of speakers going up a price bracket each time, and I could not hear any difference between the $2000 set, the $8000 set and the $12000 set, So I bought the cheap ones. My son who was with me and who hasn't spent a lifetime in heavy industry said he could hear a clear difference, I suggested he buy himself the 12k set....
The point I forgot to make is that my ears are the weakest link in my system, so no point throwing money or time into a chase for something I could never hear, Therefor I'm very happy with my current system.
That's exactly the point, there is no audible difference and it is just the industry selling snake oil and the new emperor's clothes. Every youtuber that promotes hifi products without measuring is just a seller. You learned the lesson millions are still delusional.
I think of PRAT in terms of dynamics, if the presentation is soft and smooth then it probably won't get your toes tapping, but a harder edged delivery can make your head bob and toes tap. The best way to improve a soft system is to introduce a better pre-amp, IMO. Happiness in HIFI comes when you get worn out chasing improvements and just enjoy what you have, you chase improvements, top out your budget, then stop. Of course, after a period of time the enjoyment plateaus, and then you start another search - for me, I know it is a new pre-amp, but for now just enjoying going back through my library with my current setup (CD60, BF2/64, Model 30, R3, KC62) - but, the Bel Canto Pre5 on my wishlist.
Good day from Denver, on my way to Albuquerque ✈️. I appreciate the convo on tweaking your system. So, I was in the mode of tweaking my R700 set up for a while. But, after room treatment and correction, the other tweaks (AC line filter, ISO Acoustics feet, and event door stoppers (weights) 😆 were de minimus. I came to a point where I said, this is good enough. And good = great! And it was something that I could live with. With tweaks, I'll never get to enjoy the music. I'm analyzing instead. So there's a point where I just can't go any further.
This hobby is so fun. But there are soooo many options and pricepoints and opinions on all sides. The best thing i can recommend, is having a baseline for knowing what you generally like. Master of 😊the obvious i know, but we cant buy it all. Lord knows some of us have tried…
I love that you guys get existential with audio lol. I've often compared this hobby to chasing the white rabbit 🐇 you can catch it for a moment then you end up chasing it again soon after

From DIY experience I have heard that sensation of "changing speed" in amplification. It's the result of a punchier sound, where the sound seems to start and stop with more force, so that for example a drum seems to accumulate more force and decay fast, which then creates the sensation of more speed. The actual signal is of course the same speed, but because the amp hits harder and doesn't have excessive overhang in the signal, the sound feels faster because each hit is emphasized more and is more exciting. Some parts sound faster than others, sometimes evident in the part specs themselves. I guess "lushness" can come from pleasant harmonic distortions adding extra warmth. I think Class A and AB amps have this feeling, with cheap Class D being the opposite with a more clinical sound.
What I found works for me is to get the acoustics as close to perfect with natural sounding instrurments....acoustic guitars....strings and pianos wood winds....and then let it be...electric instruments are way to various in sound to try to find the perfect sound for stereo equipment.
Oh,yes it’s possible to find happiness in the world of HiFi…just be prepared to have an open mid (and ears) and listen to the conversations … Oh,btw..I was at the new Focal (wireless) premiere at Toronto Audiofest…the room killed its vaunted performance 🎭…but I truly understand that going forward..this may be the way of the future..but at a high price ($50k CAD) Have a great weekend 🥂
I love these episodes. They reflect to what I think and it's wonderful to hear these opinions and answers that make sense. I do have a question and while I think you answered it on the previous episode (#25), I would like to know: is there such a thing as graduation from your current system? I recent updated my NVR to the Onkyo RZ50 and I have a 5.1.2 Polk Signature series set up. It was a huge upgrade to get the RZ50, but it made me wonder if missing out on the speaker department. I would like to experience a different set up when my family moves into our new house in a couple of years. What would be the grown up speaker that would pair well with the RZ50?
Kristi talking football was funny. "I know this...don't try to step in..."😂😂 Andrew you better shut up and do your audio. I know someone that loves Texas as well. 😂
In a world of tube guitar amplifiers, there's a sweet spot when it comes to setting the volume and the tone you get out of it. Generally speaking, more volume = better tone. Does this apply to HiFi amplifiers as well? Will pushing the amplifier result in a better sound?
No. The distortion of tube amps is a critical part of the electric guitar sound. Plug a high impedance microphone into your Marshall amp and belt one out if you want a demonstration.
Not sure I’ve got FOMO… I just like new shit. I’m retired, divorced, worked hard, it’s my money. It brings me happiness seeing these fedex trucks pull in my driveway and break out the dolly.
Iam having a home theatre setup with Denon AVR-X-1100(7.2) with 5.1 Wharfedale Obsidians and 2 Sony floorstanders as surrounds, and Wharfedale D10 subwoofer. I use it to see movies and listen to music. For music I have added a few sources as AMC CD transport and Rega Planar2 turntable, apart from Bluetooth/Airplay steaming of my apple music. This is so far the best setup i’ve heard. I wish to upgrade to a better music capability. Have two options in front of me. 1- I upgrade the AVR to a Marantz Cinema 50, or 2- get a stereo setup with Audiolab 7000a/ Marantz M1, QAcoustics Cocept 50 and add the CDT and Turntable on this setup. Please guide.
Gotta say hifi wise I'm pretty darned happy with my q acoustics 3050i 5.1 speakers and Sony ta-an1000 receiver 😊 Just need to convince my wife we should replace the lg led projector and 102" screen with a 98" mini led TV to finish the home theatre now! 😂
I think you'll manage convincing her to a 85" tv easier. Not only for the price difference, but also 98" and up need your home to be accommodating also.
TCL and hisense are fixing street prices quickly and not doing 98" is where my fomo would kick in hard 🙂 The issue is the "large black rectangle" thing anywhere over 46", a white screen doesn't trigger her. I'm formulating a plan based on the slatted panels Andrew and Kristi had for a while to make it sink away.
Andrew, here’s a question I wanted to ask for a very long time: I am aware of your opinion of NAD’s boring sound. Would you say you could tune it with Dirac similarly to how you can tune a Beolab 28 and make it sound more exciting that way?
I get the familiarization aspect of products not being perfect but easy to incorporate. Years ago I bought this Bluetooth speaker out of frustration of the Bose and jbl disappointments. It’s a cheap-ass speaker on Amazon. It’s called w-king. Holy shit, for $87 it sounds awesome. I can throw it in the pool, charge my phone with it, keep it in the sun all day, days of charge. It’s too good.

🤗 I can honestly say through education from you and other UA-cam people I have been able to come to terms with my system and my budget limitations💚💚💚
Love how Kristi judges how judgmental Andrew is when watching shows/movies. 😆 Love you guys!!
You two do a good job adding in your audiophile therapy thoughts
Luscious to me is pretty much the embodiment of how you described vintage amps 😁
Thanks for your advice Kristi and Andrew, and I look forward to the upcoming Cambridge Audio review 😊
Hey Leezah. How's your week going?
@@KristiWright hi Kristi! Very well, thank you! Hope yours is as well!🥰

That's heartwarming, Harry. Hope you are well and off to a fantastic weekend.
The best part of Friday!! 🙌🏾
So happy to be a part of your day! Thanks for tuning in.
Yay, I got the episode number shout out! :)
Edit: *And* my comment!
32:18 'Man-handy'...totally awesome. What a great episode this was. 🎶🎵🎶
Audiophiles also have not heard the phrase: If it ain't broke, don't fix it,,,
I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-72TXV receiver (Craigslist), a Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai DVD player (again Craigslist), a pair of Klipsch RP-600M II's, an SVS SB-2000 Pro subwoofer (2.1 system) and quality audio cables and I couldn't be happier with my system.
My system sounds different from night to night. Always has. But when its sounding good I can listen all night and be happy.
Yes happiness exists, even if it's often fleeting.

I love the 40n. It’s full when it needs to be and delicate when the music calls for that.
The 40n is great! I'm glad you're still loving it!
I agree. Great stereo equipment is important to the sound, but studio recording techniques always make or break the listening experience.
@@KristiWright Hi Kristi, could you please advise on the colours you used to paint the walls and ceiling in your room? It looks lovely, wish to emulate it in my cinema room

Hi fi happiness is me getting a 300 watt qsc professional amp at the thrift store for $10 and building my own hi end speakers and saving $$$$

That's a great philosophy! RE: Tube amps, We love our Decware Zen amp, but truthfully, we aren't or haven't been offered many others for review.
Man, it feels like everyone but me is experiencing FOMO 😢
Congratulations! You have achieved audiophile enlightenment! 😍
Alright, let’s do this, coffee in hand, marantz me some more.

Love my new Dali Rubikore 6 with Nad c298 power amp. It great
From DIY experience I have heard that sensation of "changing speed" in amplification.
Distortion can sound pleasing and harsh. The difference is "order". If you love music reproduction, go Google it.
What I found works for me is to get the acoustics as close to perfect with natural sounding instrurments....acoustic guitars....strings and pianos wood winds....and then let it be...electric instruments are way to various in sound to try to find the perfect sound for stereo equipment.
Oh,yes it’s possible to find happiness in the world of HiFi…just be prepared to have an open mid (and ears) and listen to the conversations …

Ha! We live for the SIDE QUESTS!! Hahaha. Looks like Marantz has a fricking model amp for everyone. We shall embrace the change!
