I am a US Marine Vietnam Vet and I want to say thank you SGT for taking care of of your men in combat. That is what makes the Marine Corps special. And Doc, I knew a few corpsman in my 4 years in the Corps & all that were attached to Marines were special, thanks Doc. SEMPER FI Brothers

These acts of valor should be celebrated in the middle of Times Square and not in an inconspicuous ceremony in a barracks with only a few family members witnessing it. The country should witness this astonishing feats of courage that few in the world can dream of.

Welcome to the Marines. No budget for it... Navy Corpsmen are welcome anywhere Marines are.

You’ll learn that these guys don’t care about the medal and could care less about the ceremony. They realize they are just doing their job and note to themselves so many have done the same and never had recognition.

I remember Thad as a moto lcpl to cpl. When I got to third platoon after my time at OCS, he was my junior Marine when I was a Sgt and his scout leader for third platoon with 1st LAR. We completed a pretty boring tour of Iraq (my fourth) and I think his second. I’m not surprised by this and extremely proud of him.

The sailor also allowed to wear the Marine uniform when attached to a Marine unit.

I am awed and humbled by the sacrifice and patriotism of Messrs Herber and Connolly. This sacrifice and dedication usually goes un-noticed, or at least only among those among the Marine family. To you heros, our respect and eternal gratitude.

I had the pleasure of having, now, HM2 Connolly as a CTM instructor aboard Camp Pendleton (a course on combat trauma all Corpsman in 1st Marine Division must complete). I actually saw this video prior to meeting him. He's a very funny, approachable guy and always took his time to explain things and show us the best way to do something, be it a medical intervention or anything else.
In one particular instance, a girl in our class and in my unit had an emotional breakdown at the tail end of a night op. Connelly was quick to counsel her and showed a tremendous amount of humility and empathy, and she graduated with the rest of us.
