That was amazingly comprehensive. As someone who hasn't used CDJs extensively and has a gig tomorrow, I really appreciate it!
@@ip5799 Tbh even though this video is really useful, i was in the same situation a couple of days ago, I'm used to mix on smaller controllers at home but I had to gig on CDJ's for the first time. Without practicing before. I knew what the buttons do but it's totally not the same. I mean, i didn't expect the CDJ's to feel like a controller but the difference was very noticable. Even the touching sensation was different on the platters. My tip for you would be to Watch this video and try to remember the most out of it (Thank you Phil), if possible practice on CDJ's before the gig and finally Play a long first intro song in your set and practice a transition in your headphone (so that u can have some minutes to be used to the feeling of it without the crowd hearing wyd)
Good luck to whoever lives this situation folks 🤞🏽
The fact that this is available for free is out of this world... Crazy content! Keep it up.
I have my first gig this weekend and it’s my first time on CDJs. This vid told me literally everything I should know. I’m not even that nervous anymore! You came thru big time w this vid 🙏
Great video! You are a lifesaver for all of us being asked to play on CDJ3000's but don't have them to practice on. Thank you :)
Exactly this @jyoshymusic , because I almost forgot to download the CDJ audio driver to connect my laptop to it. Thnx for reminding me @digitaltips
Thanks for this! I did my first club gear on the weekend on CDJ3000s and used my knowledge learnt here
What a comprehensive and easy to understand tutorial. Makes me feel a lot more confident . Thank you for this
You aren't wrong when you say go out and DJ in front of an audience! Reading the room and networking with others is a HUGE benefit.
have my first show three weeks from today, and i’m fortunate enough the promoter is letting me practice before. i’ve DJd on a controller for 5 years this is by far the most helpful and comprehensive tutorial i’ve seen. watching this helped me pick up 3-4 really specific things i’d need to do before/at the beginning of my set. thank you!
fantastic work! Especially like the new Track Filter function that for sure will be utilizing a lot moving forward. Even for someone who used decks since the CDJ-500 I found this to be very helpful.
Those videos are amazing, really useful service for everyone want to know those stuff that usually meet only at the club where u don’t have time to analyse every option and fuction, thanks Phil as always
Thank you Sensei! I definitely need this tutorial! It's almost as if every time I get a significant piece of hardware, you come out with a full fledged tutorial (XDJ XZ/Prime 4). This is GREATLY appreciated!!!
How are you liking the Prime 4 compared to the XDJ XZ? Also, why so many gadgets! lol
@@MrDumbandRandom I love both units. I think I like the XZ a bit more because of the Club Standard layout, the full size jogs, and the ability to go standalone, RB & Serato. 2nd question: I'm a tech junkie: DDJ SB3 (trying to sell), DDJ REV1, DDJ 1000, Prime 4, XDJ XZ, 2X CDJ 3000/DJM 900NXS2, 2X Technics 30th Anniversary gold plated 1200MK2/DJM S9 and since I'm visiting family in NYC and need something there; DDJ 200! LOL
@@tharukkus Thanks for your insight! I’m trying to get like you! I just have DDJ-400 for now but am still a beginner so it’s great for me so far
@@MrDumbandRandom that's a GREAT Entry Level controller! You jeep up with that and when you find yourself behind a DDJ 800, 1000, XZ or any club industry setup, after you get over the larger size adjustment, you'll feel right at home!
The old style cue and call buttons are my holy grail. So many years on a 900 pro using those buttons. They do the job well
this is an incredible tutorial.. I feel much more confident now that i can run this live!
Fantastic video.
I've just come out of DJ retirement and the club has these, felt a bit lost where all the features were, cleared everything up for me and looks like technology has taken a jump compared to the 2000's.
This has made much more comfortable going into the weekend.
Just got my cdj-3000 deck to add to my XDJ-XZ, was a bit confused how to get it set up, but now found this video...... thank you, I'll start buying lessons from you in the near future.
Perfect video. After playing 2,5 years on Denon, I really needed this. Now I really can play with my new stuff
Amazing review Phil!! 🔥💪☝️👍
Thank you so much indeed for making videos like this.
You guys@ digital DJ tips are awesome always helping out and spreading the knowledge
Nice work, Phil, so will put together and you made it thoroughly easy for me to understand and then jump on my own decks to reproduce.
Thanks Phil. This helps me a ton. Being able to see and hear such a detailed explanation of all things 3000 is great.
I played last Saturday and with your help I handled the 3k's for the first time like a champ. The only thing that threw me off was how loud the music is in a club! LOL!@@digitaldjtips
Tried them for the first time yesterday , and I got the hang of it after couple hours , fairly easy!(feels great) too!
Thank you very much. This was one of the most useful tutorials I've watched on dj'ing. 🙏🏽
Best lesson, I need to learn the true fundamentals of DJing, until the I,ll keep watching and learn.
Lifesaver mate, I've got my 1st live gig on these tomorrow 👍 practiced in a studio and my pre saved beatloops wouldn't load 😭 your video has solved that
I was asked to be the opening DJ at a House festival so this my quick tutorial on CDJs Its defiantly helpful thanks so much
I just got back into djing after being away for 20 years. Used to play with vinyl and turntables... man stuff has changed
This video should have more views and respected with more amount of likes and comments!
Perfect thanks ❤
I've got this setup in my room and honestly matched with turbosound foh it fucking rocks
I’ve a gig in just a few weeks and I’m so used to my ddj200s. So this tutorial has been super helpful in getting me up to speed! Is that Tech on my Mind track available for download?
Small extra note, the 'touch preview ' and a couple of other things only work if you connect the decks using a LAN Hub, if you only have two decks and connect them to each other those features won't work. Love your vids! Skin x
Good point, we don't say that as we never advise just connecting the two decks, but great to clarify for those who do.
Tanks very much! very insightful and lifesaving, do these players accept FLAC files?
Really nice review but if you just stand infront of them for maybe 2h+ in a club you'll get used to them and almost play them with your eyes closed. Same for the Djm900
First I freaked out when I stood Infront of them because I thought "man this is the tech and the most advanced equitment and this costs over 7k" but after 30 minutes I began to realize the design and enjoy it. Now I would say that it's even easier to Dj on them than on a controller, because everything is bigger and more responsive.
But just remember you still have to pick the right music for the time, the equitment won't do it for you.
I've seen party's going crazy with a phone and an aux cable. And I've seen partys die with an big cdj and loudspeaker set up.
Cheers 🤙🏼
Thanks for your feedback. There’s plenty here you can’t work out while DJing on them! And yes, as I say at the beginning and the end, there is much more to DJing than the gear. We agree totally with you.
Great course. Can't believe you gave it away for free. It's worth cash! Can we have the DJS-1000 sampler next please? (j/k as I realise market is small for that). I think there's a tiny error at 9:59. Phil says "In other words, whether it shows TIME PLAYED or TIME ELAPSED". I think he means "TIME PLAYED or TIME REMAINING"
Yeah I did! Thanks for the correction. The reason we don’t sell this stuff is on its own, it won’t make you a DJ! We sell the course that does that bit 👌
Good one, thank you! I guess that while using an DJM 750 mk1 mixer I will lose some options...
Thank you for supporting Ukraine💙💛🙏
Thanks for the tutorial, very helpful. I’ve always wondered what the “ A thru B” switches on the channels do? For normal mixing should the channels all be on Thru?
Thanks I thought so. But Thru means they are all on and can’t be isolated, always in the signal path?
How do I turn the blue light off saying beat FX for the channel? Any help would be much appreciated 🙏
Hi Phil! This is awesome as always thanks a ton. Do you have a link to the particular ethernet adapter you are using please? Thank you!
No sorry, have had it for 10 years don’t think it’s made any more. This should work: www.amazon.com/Ethernet-Splitter-Optimization-Unmanaged-TL-SG105/dp/B00A128S24/ref=mp_s_a_1_4
Hi! In all the previous cdj's when you set a cue point on a track and then move to another track (with autocue off), if you want to return back to the first track you simply press the cue button and you get back. In 3000 I cant see how is that possible..Might you have the answer for that? Thank you!
Hi Phil, Looking for some advise on two things if you can spare a few mins?
1.I can't get touch preview to work (cdj3000/900nx2/proDJlink). When i place my finger on the preview waveform it does nothing.
2. If i cue up a track to have a quick listen of an unfamiliar tune, it then highlights it Green to say I've played it, even though I may have just checked it out for a few seconds. Is there a way to change this?
I've tried to investigate this but have drawn a blank hence me asking the fountain of knowledge on here!
So useful thanks!
Weird thing tho, Link won't work using cdj 2000NXS2 and 3000 at the same time (it should but it didn't) unless you put the # of the player to Auto. Weird bug.
Hoping someone here knows this. I have got the 3000's and even though I have Autocue on, they do not start from the first beat. I know this is a setting somewhere. Does anyone know how to change the setting so that it always cues from the first beat of the track?
There’s no link button ; so how do you load songs up on both sides with the one usb? Is the source button the new link?
Hi Phil, if you were to guess, when do you think Pioneer dj will release an updated mixer to go with these cdj3000s? Would you say that the V10 is it? Or with there maybe be a djm900nxs3/djm1000mk_ ?
V10 definitely isn’t it. I’d say it’s definitely coming. No idea when especially in these times.
How do you get the key to show next to each tune while browsing
am using this model. please can you explain me my RCF external 4 channel mixer is not working while we connected to the dj console. but if you try from direct conection its working
Hello How to set red light jog?
How to change USB stick name? Can I change hot cues colors only in RekordBox or also on cdj3000?
Switch dude switch 😁😁
This was perfect. Quick question... is there a way to activate a loop point so the song runs into it? Similar to Traktors active loop feature.
Yes there is such a feature it was introduced with the Cdj 2000 nxs and it's also alled activeloop. You can set them in the Rekordbox Programm. ✌🏽
@@The_cdgp does it work without Rekordbox? Just using the CDJ 3000 by itself?
No, you need to set it beforehand in Rekordbox. It’s called “active loop”.
@@digitaldjtips awww wish it was traktor you can set it live. Too much prep. DJing is about live on the spot. Prep is for producing music. There is natural high when doing things on the fly.
@@bboymac84 totally agree I asked same question about the XDJ-RX. Understand the rekordbox prep part but there should be an AUTOLOOP on/off button so you can set it real time. Having to set it and export it to USB stick is a real pain in the ass. When the Loop is already set in Rekordbo a simple feature to activate/dectivate it on the player would be a basic feature ! Maybe one daddy pioneer might think about it :) I hope.
do it with DENON DJ
I used cdj 2000 nexus before, and its complatible with rekordbox 5, can i keep using all my song that already analyzed with rekordbox 5 in cdj 3000? Or i have to reanalyzed all my song with rekordbox 6?
Yes, you need to follow a procedure because rb6 uses a new database but the software will talk you through it
WHEN I MAKE IT TO TOUR LEVEL ILL COME BACK TO THANK YOU AND JAMES HYPE!
ERIC HYPE BISH!
I use Traktor but it seems changing to Rekorrdbox may be easier. When i try to change the color as you mention on the video at 19:20 i see in my CDJ 3000 'background color' is at default and i cant select it , why is that? i also get set up or see the wave forrm.. look like the old school wave
Hey as you shown 1:28:08 video i was connected to my macbbok pro.. rekordbox software by connected to cdjs 3000 with help of midi cables its working but in players its not showing anything can u please help me out ?
Same here to came to a gig I got 3000s and I just connect them how I normally connect to 2000s nothing on the screen, jog does not work, any luck?
Would you happen to know the length and width in inches on that particular setup? I just wanted to know to see if it would fit on my desk
That's a great tour, and at the end of it I still have the same, big question. Beside the "industry standard" cliche, I cannot for the life of me see the advantage/superiority of this setup (and the costs involved) over a Prime 4. Obviously, this is a full club setup - but even so... why? If I'd own a club, I'd still buy Denon Primes (the players, maybe) even for the simple reason that they are truly plug&play - prettt much will read any file + quality Tidal stream, much smarter pads and better visuals and ease of interaction. Everything I see here feels just obsolete.
"Industry standard" isn't a cliche, it's the truth. The overwhelming majority of pro club DJs use this gear, and it's what you'll find in most clubs. It's what's expected. That's the advantage - if these things are important to you, of course. If not, there are loads of other choices.
Do you have any videos of rekordbox 6 .7.5
That more update?
For beginners
My set up is = xdj-xz and laptop
Our Rekordbox 6 course is up to date with 6.7. 1.digitaldjtips.com/rekordbox-course
I just got my pair this afternoon. I have already messed up my Mac trying to figure out why I am now unable to record directly into Rekordbox performance mode. The record button is dimmed. I started messing with settings and now the 3000s are not showing in the audio midi setup app. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have two 3000's, a DJM 750 mk2, and an iMac.
sorry, too little info here to help directly, but we hope you've sorted it.
How do you connect your cellphone to it?
there is an error in your video. 1:25:24
that just moves the grid by 1/2 beats. Unfortunately this doesn't halve or double the BPM (which would be much better)
What happens if I don't want to use Rekordbox and want to us serato instead ? How can I set this up ?
They will work with Serato too. Plug them in and set them to Software Control.
@digitaldjtips thankyou so much, bought my 1st cdj 3000 I spent 20 years as a club dj here in Australia and OS. Sold all my records and had a 20 year break, but have the urge and been offered to go back into it from one of my old bosses whom I spent 10 years dj-ing in his club. Just need to learn a new way now. I will take into account all the tech stuff I know most of the rest, thanks again 👍 🙂 🙏🏻
One gets headaches from all this options. I rather go back to old and simple!
