Congratulations on your rapid recovery and medical clearance, Jamie. I'm really looking forward to seeing you wade into the Spitfire Mk.XII conversion. In the past, I was a bit skeptical about 3D printed parts, but having recently received the 1/48th LFD Spitfire M.XIV conversion set for the Eduard Mk.VIII and Lukgraph's new 1/32nd Halberstadt D.II it seems to me that this technology is ushering a bit of a revolution. The details in some of the parts are truly astounding and I will certainly be investing in more of it.
I should think the real opportunity for your resin canopy making friend is the Barracuda. It is so glaringly obvious that a replacement would be a must have and in my opinion, the Barracuda would be a more popular kit.
Hi Jamie. Great news on the recovery mate! 👍 The 1/35 aircraft discussion is a contentious one with many people, and like you, I don't understand why! It's simple...... as you say, and have said in your other 1/35 discussion vid, buy and build whatever floats your boat, if it doesn't, then keep your negativity about it to yourself and calm yourself down! I like the principle of 1/35 due to the vehicle and diorama possibilities. My concern with the Border models kits is the less than clear instructions and lack of decent painting detail guides. For an experienced modeller, probably no biggy, but I don't enjoy struggling through trying to make sense of every little bit of detail. That's just me though! I'm waiting for the ICM 1/48 Hampden and also really looking forward to the 1/48 Henschal 129 next year. Really enjoyed the Armahobby video ( don't mind the music either!) and I've only just watched the full build series! Its an absolutely beautiful build mate! Stunning quality with so much detail. Somebody needs to produce a half decent 1/48 Battle, Firefly and Barracuda don't they? One day perhaps! Take it easy mate. 👊
Hi Jamie, I’ve recently built the Border Spitfire, video build on my channel(sorry for the unashamed plug😖), the instructions are infuriating in there errors and omissions and the PE wheel well liners are a challenge as well as some questionable colour choices for the decal roundels but, the overall end result is really quite nice and I really enjoyed the build, I’m a fan and have the Bf 109 and Ju88 to build. Brilliant update as always, glad your on the mend😁👍
@@thescalemodellingcafe I’ve heard this, though I have to qualify that I’m totally ignorant when it comes spotting shape and form errors in most kits😖 I’m firmly in the “If it looks like a ………, then it’s good enough” camp😵😵. Keep up the great work, you are an inspirational modeller😁👍
Hi jamie as you said 1/35 scale aircraft is good for a airfield diorama I'll be buying a fw 190 at Telford model show because as you said you can get the vehicle's and figures for a nice diorama. regarding 1/32 you can buy a 1/32 kettenkrad can't remember the maker off hand. cheers Gary 🇬🇧
I was a 48 scale only, but I caught the 32 bug and can't stop lol. Unfortunately my current wife saw pictures of my old house and modelling room. Lol I'm not allowed to have a stash. Once the kit hits primer I'm allowed to order the next project.
Hi Jamie. I for one liked the music. If i didn't i would have turned the volume off. Its a very simple process. 1/72 & 1/48 are a good scale space wise, and there are plenty of figures and accessories you can add to them. 1/24 take up a lot of room, there for i leave them on the shelf, unless they did a scout/Wasp. I ofter wonder why they went for 1/32 instead of 1/35 as i also build Armoure etc to those scales 1/35 gets a thumbs up for me. Anything that offers more choice must only be a bonus. If no like. I No buy. Simplessss
I have no problems with such as 35th scale etc, more choice, the better for me I'd say. That said, I have a small number of 32nd, and ideally I like to build 'collections' of same scale stuff; just neater in my mind that way! I find myself now stuck in the 'hovering over ordering a 190 in 35th' button world...
35th for aircraft - it's just another scale! Build it or don't. I've got the Border Spitfire Mk.V (bargain from China) for a Malta maintenance diorama (autopsy mode as Chris Becker calls it).
I don't really build 1/32nd ( I have two kits in the stash ), so the whole 1/35th scale thing doesn’t bother me, buf I can see if someone only builds 1/32nd scale that it could be a bit frustrating. It's a shame about the Barracuda. I think the windshield is too short because the angle of the rear edge leans forward too much. Also the nose appears to have some serious shape issues - around the radiator, the cowl should bulge out on the lower edge, but it looks completely flat in the kit. I believed the nose is too curved also at the bottom as the intakes on the side angle far too much. So it's going to take a bit of work to have it looking like a Barracuda ( I wont be buying as Im currently reducing the stash ), but someone will produce a new nose and canopy. Like you say I think Trumpeter are just using bad drawings and nophotos ( I don't know why as the MMP book on the Barracuda has a set of drawings that look far more accurate than this kit ).

Just ordered some paints etc from ScaleModelShed.

Good that you got the all clear. Shame on the inaccuracies on the Baracuda and Battle kits. How can one make such basic errors. I cannot understand.
