And the trainer who claimed ALL of his pokemon were water types, but the Nidoqueen that was cloned belonged to him, and she's definitely not a water type, she's just blue, like most water types, and is kinda wearing a weird bikini pattern.
That's what I thought. Technically, that Nidoqueen didn't evolve from a Nidoran because she was a clone, she emerged from the cloning tank fully evolved, so it kinda makes sense her offspring might do the same. Also related, but unmentioned, that Nidoqueen was cloned from an original Nidoqueen belonging to a trainer who claimed that all of his pokemon were water types, and they all were, apart from Nidoqueen. I think, because she's blue, like water types almost always are, due to the predictable colour coding of pokemon and their types, it was either a mistranslation, or we weren't meant to notice, or just a straight up mistake on their part.

It's been a while, but Misty doesnt hate all bugs, just most. Once Caterpie became Butterfree, she liked it. Might be a huge oversight in the writing, but Misty might consider Venonat and Scyther just cute and cool enough to tolerate them. IIn response to Misty liking Butterfree but not Caterpie, I wanted to say that I have noticed that even in reality people who dislike caterpillars do like butterflies. A friend of mine cringes when I show her a picture of a caterpillar but was fine with a picture of when it became a butterfly.
Top 10 behind the scenes facts about Pokemon Clefairy was going to be Ash's partner It was originally going to last only a year and a half Why Brock left the show The Orange Islands arc was filler
In defense of the entire Indigo League, no one really knows how long a series will last or continue, let alone to still continue to this day nearly 30 years later. So mini voiceover errors just weren’t seen as threatening. Of course once the brand was well established from Johto forward, there was really was no excuses anymore. However, in original drafts, Arbok was supposed to be a dual branch evolution of Ekans, with Ekans also to evolve into Seviper as well, but was later changed. And Bulbasaur also used its wind breath for protection in the episode where Ash catches it, so clearly it knew how to use breath as a wind source, and blowing breath is a whirl of wind energy technically, so Ash was not wrong there. Just nowadays, the move Whirlwind is solidly established as only a flying type.
In the season 1 episode, The Ultimate Test, there was the segment during the "identify this Pokémon" segment when they showed a swirl. It ended up being the swirl of a Poliwag, and they explained that when a Poliwag evolved into a Poliwhirl, the swirl changes directions. While that is true, the showed a picture of Poliwrath instead.

There's also the mistake of when in season 1 Gary tells Ash that he'd earned 10 badges while they were still in the Kanto region when there has always only 8 gyms in each region. (except the Alola region which has Pokemon trials instead of Pokemon gyms)
Just like how there are more towns and cities in Kanto than the ones from the games, what's to say they don't have Pokémon League-sanctioned gyms? They even showed several different badge designs when talking about them.
There is an episode in the anime where 2 different groups have an electribuzz and syther. They are opponenets and are competing to be recognized as gyms. So utcan be pausible that there are more than 8 gyms.
To be fair with Bulbasaur, they give Poke’mon moves they normally don’t have. Pikachu being the easiest example or giving a special Dratini extremespeed before making it a permanent move they can learn in later generations.
Everyone knows that the anime characters are all dirty hackers. Giving pokemon moves they can't learn, giving pokemon more than 4 moves constantly and even giving them moves that they could only have learned via TM without ever showing anyone using a TM, or moves that are way above their supposed level (since y'know... the school of hard knocks episodes clarified that levels within pokemon does exist canonly)
In the latin american dub, Misty and Jesse didn't have the same voice actress. Misty's voice actress is Xochitl Ugarte and Jesse's voice actress was Diana Perez. Sadly Diana passed away in 2021 😢😢 while Xochitl is still alive. Xochitl has lent her voice in each and every appearance of Misty in the anime, being the only voice actress who has never been replaced. 😊😊
there's an episode of Pokemon Advance Challenge where Ash tells his treeko to "use Harden!" Treeko used Pound, because, ofc, it can't use Harden. I think it was a dubbing error stemming from the fact that it was a double battle where Ash was also using Corphish, who uses Harden regularly.
#1 You can blame Lawrence Neves from Pokémon USA for this error. The fact that they didn't even fact check that before recording the segment's audio just shows that PUSA hired someone who had little knowledge of the franchise.
I remember seeing a clip where Brock mentions that fire type pokemon are weak against air type moves when in reality air type pokemon don't exist. What also got me too was how during the black and white series, Ash would repeatedly take his pokedex out to hear entries of pokemon that were already mentioned in previous episodes (ex: Liligant).
I would actually say the using the Pokédex on Koffing was actually for Iris’ question on what Koffing was and not Ash himself, but I guess he did sort of forget when he didn’t reply. 🤔
Considering some the newer directions that Pokemon's been going; such as alternate forms additional evolutions, the whole topic regarding Arbok and Seviper now feels like a missed opportunity.
How about their shaky grasp of type matchups just in general? -Super inconsistent in early years as to whether Ash's Pikachu can override Ground's immunity to Electric -Aforementioned immunity was often attributed to Rock instead of Ground in the case of the Geodude and Rhyhorn lines, and we even see the fossil Pokémon shrug off an Electric attack like it's nothing -Normal has _never_ been shown as immune to Ghost -Ghost Pokémon were touted as Ash's best chance against Psychic. Even if we discount Gen 1 erroneously making Psychic immune to Ghost, the only Ghost-types at the time are also Poison-types, and thus weak to Psychic attacks. -Rock/Ground's weakness to Grass was never given the same emphasis as its weakness to Water. In fact, in one episode in Johto, we see James's Victreebel attack some wild Onix with Razor Leaf. In the games, this'd have been an easy OHKO, but the Onix barely feel anything. I will say, they got a lot better about this in later years, but in the beginning, anyone trying to get their Pokémon knowledge from the anime had it rough. Source: I didn't know Rock wasn't immune to Electric until Gen 2, where I tried using my Sudowoodo against a Pikachu.
The Gen-I games were buggy in terms of type effectiveness. Iwata fixed it for _Stadium._ Psychic's weakness to Bug could not be viably exploited in Gen-I.
Maybe because im really into the battling side of Pokémon, but i always cant get over mistakes in battle. Some of my favorites: -Sawyer's Slurpuff using Electro Ball. (Later in the Series it was fixed to be using Energy Ball) -Misty claiming a Ground Type like... Furret... would be a good choice against Pikachu. (Furret is a Normal Type, but it can use a Ground move... Dig) -Kingler being weak against Air Attacks. (Water types like Kingler are weak to Electric and Grass, with Air being closely resembled to Flying)
Ah yes, the infamous Trainer’s Choice mistake where Arbok involves into Serviper. Honestly, there’s a lot of errors and incorrect answers during these segments but this is probably the most well known mistake. My sibling and cousin legitimately believed that to be true until they actually played the game themselves. You can tell this was made by someone who only knows Pokemon on a surface level.
I do wonder if it's the first time we seen a koffing pokedex entry in the anime 🤔 anyways I don't see the big issue with that scene lol if ash hasn't seen a koffing in so many years he probably forgot it he's a kid after all 😂
I think Arbok evolving into Sirviper is the Number 1 mistake left in the Pokemon Anime also the Team Rocket Pokemon Mistaking names from the first movie was fix in the CGI remake years Later.
In the pokemon movie in Mewtwo's cloning room; Team Rocket also call Sandslash, Sandshrew. A lot of the Trainers Choice Advert Bumpers were wrong pitting wrong choices and even displaying the wrong pokemon above names. In the MewTwo Vs Mew movie Ash ends his opening battle with Pikachu using an electric attack on all the Pokemon his rival sends out. One of which is Golem. A Rock/Ground type that would not be effected by electric. There are several times in the series where Ash will adopt another trainers Pokemon that has been abandoned or mistreated. This should be impossible as when a Pokemon is caught the Pokemon becomes registered to that trainer and will already be attached to a Pokeball. The only way Ash would get ownership is via a trade.
Something I've been thinking about for a while now: why doesn't Officer Jenny use a Psychic-type Pokemon like Alakazam as a partner, it could use its psychic power to read the minds of potential criminals and could inform Officer Jenny in the same way.
Emolga: If you make mistakes, then you're just like me, right Dunsparce😅. Dunsparce: Ok, I get it, how about we call this godly Pokemon so it can judge the culprits behind the scenes. Emolga: That won't be necessary, they already learned from their mistakes. That reminds me, I forgot to rescue someone in a dungeon again😅. Dunsparce: Oh boy, here we go again😓.
My Honorable Mentions: 1. Jiraichi speaks, but not in the dub. 2. Jinx's Ice Beam that is not even an Ice Beam. 3. Didn't let what Ash is saying because of the narrator. 4. Pika-dub error (Poketoon).
Zubat Carries Squirtle and Team Rocket's Terrible Pokemon Knowledge and Baby Nidoqueen and Venonat Is Not A Big Type... According To Misty and Ash Forgets Koffing and Pokerap Blunder and Togedemaru-chu and Bulbasaur Uses Whirlwind and Double Pikachu and Arbok Evolves Into Seviper... Apparently made me question my understanding of Pokemon on TV or on Hulu or on the DVDs
In the first Pokemon Dungeon episode, "Team Go-getters", main antagonist, Gengar, calls his teammate Ekans "Arbok". This is actually a mistake by the animators, as Ekans was supposed to be an Arbok. Both Gengar and their other teammate, Medicham, are both fully evolved, it stands to reason that Ekans was intended to be to.
For Koffing Ash may seem incompetent from season to season, but there's an underlying reason why I think he doesn't recognize Koffing. The writers have always used some form of Pokemon Pokedex entry to give info on new or reoccurring Pokemon. I think he secretly does recognize the Pokemon but as he's a traveling trainer he may be using the dex to give himself newly discovered info on Koffing for himself and Iris. The thing is he looks at it with a serious gaze in his eyes as if he knows it, but for her sake is answering the question she asked as she's the one who doesn't seem to actually know. I don't remember the episode well, but that's my take as all of season 5 and some of season 3 and 4 was about Ash teaching new trainers how to be trainers.
Brock says in a Johto League episode that Magneton's Icy Wind kept Pikachu from using its Speed moves. Magneton can't learn Icy Wind and it was Azumarill using Icy Wind.
I forget which episode this occurs in, but in one episode, when viewing the pokedex information for Tyrogue, it says that Tyrogue is the evolved form of Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee when it's the other way around. What makes this all the more worse is that they totally left out Hitmontop, Tyrogue's other evolution
When I saw that Trainer's Choice for the first time, I was around 8 years old. Because Arbok didn't come with the S/R/E game, and because I was still new to Pokemon, I didn't know where or how I can catch a Arbok so I can get a Seviper and it made me confused. It was embarrassing asking my 16 year old cousin who's been a Pokémon fan since the first season, where I can catch a Arbok to evolve into a Seivper. Imagine his dumbfounded reaction when I ask.
Pokemon Trainer’s Choice was definitely an interesting way to spice up the trivia. However, 4Kids seemed to know very little about the franchise. Besides the infamous Arbok evolves into Seviper mishap, they labelled two different Pokemon Nuzleafs, misspelled Pokémon's names, like Onix and Flaaffy(three times), and made type-advantages incorrectly, like Mudkip is strong against Minun and Plusle.
The zubat thing is a worldwide error that so many know. I must say that about 2:00 is not only that but all pokemon lay eggs. No pokemon will be born as a pokemon directly.

I’ve noticed more errors with the trainers choice segments where they have typos or use a Pokemon and call it by a different name
4Kids apparently didn’t know too much about the Pokémon franchise. That’s why there were so many mistakes for Trainers Choice.
@@g-burtfred1106 This wouldn't surprise me. 4Kids kinda stunk at what they did.
5:31: They only did 150 Pokémon during the PokéRap, “Patrick Star”! All except Mew, remember? 🤨🙄
And a few Gen-II Pokémon showed up during the Kanto arc before Gold & Silver were released.
@@JamesDavy2009 Those weren’t in the PokéRap, bub!
Also in the pokerap they showed the same pokemon twice with different names
I mean Pokemon has been around for long. So obviously the tv show had some inconsistencies regarding Pokemon movesets and its own continuity.
the first season was the best and craziest in the show. it did not take itself too seriously and gave some of the best laughs😂
Most of these mistakes are simply are localization/dubbing errors but Ash forgetting about Koffing it's so stupid.

In sun and moon there is a scene with a girl having many Pikachu. And it's shown that Ash's Pikachu doesn't know how to use volt tackle. But there is a whole segment in older series about Pikachu mastering volt tackle 😅😅
I would argue that the baby Nidoqueen isn't a mistake because those Pokemon are clones. Maybe they follow different rules.
It's been a while, but Misty doesnt hate all bugs, just most. Once Caterpie became Butterfree, she liked it.
Might be a huge oversight in the writing, but Misty might consider Venonat and Scyther just cute and cool enough to tolerate them. Or its just beyond annoying to have her freak out and run all over the place all episode
Cilantro did question if Misty likes those that are Bug AND Water
If I remember right, she said, "Bug Pokemon are gross and icky!" Maybe she likes the one who look cute to her. Or cool. Who knows? lol
IIn response to Misty liking Butterfree but not Caterpie, I wanted to say that I have noticed that even in reality people who dislike caterpillars do like butterflies. A friend of mine cringes when I show her a picture of a caterpillar but was fine with a picture of when it became a butterfly.

Top 10 behind the scenes facts about Pokemon
Clefairy was going to be Ash's partner
It was originally going to last only a year and a half
Why Brock left the show
The Orange Islands arc was filler

Yea. Though we do learn later that there are some unofficial gyms as well... so maybe that explains it? (Or maybe it was an error on their part)
0:04 Rest in peace, pikachs
Maybe because it was such a long time ago Ash probably forgot about James’ Weezing when it was a Koffing
Ash pulling out his Pokedex for Koffing.. like he does constantly for 'pokemon of the week'
Pretty sure he's done so for a Pokemon on his team

R.I.P to Rachel Lillis, Misty's & Jessie's OG Voice Actress.

Alakazm line was a comedic one, in reference to his scyth arms vs the spoon hands 🙌
there's an episode of Pokemon Advance Challenge where Ash tells his treeko to "use Harden!" Treeko used Pound, because, ofc, it can't use Harden. I think it was a dubbing error stemming from the fact that it was a double battle where Ash was also using Corphish, who uses Harden regularly.
#1
You can blame Lawrence Neves from Pokémon USA for this error.
The fact that they didn't even fact check that before recording the segment's audio just shows that PUSA hired someone who had little knowledge of the franchise.
Great list
In the 1st Pokemon movie, Meowth also calls Sandslash "Sandshrew", and another trainer calls his Pidgeot "Pidgeotto".
Presumably he meant flying type moves, and it just didn't translate well.
@@colebraddock1809 seems possible
I would actually say the using the Pokédex on Koffing was actually for Iris’ question on what Koffing was and not Ash himself, but I guess he did sort of forget when he didn’t reply. 🤔
Ash didn’t listen information about Koffing at all, he did it for Iris. Problem solve.
@@mattiasolsson1523 True. Did it for Iris through the Pokédex.
Considering some the newer directions that Pokemon's been going; such as alternate forms additional evolutions, the whole topic regarding Arbok and Seviper now feels like a missed opportunity.

Dude I was like 12 when I first saw the Seviper/Arbok thing and even I (who barely knew a lot of Gen 3 at the time) knew that was super incorrect lol
How about their shaky grasp of type matchups just in general?
-Super inconsistent in early years as to whether Ash's Pikachu can override Ground's immunity to Electric
-Aforementioned immunity was often attributed to Rock instead of Ground in the case of the Geodude and Rhyhorn lines, and we even see the fossil Pokémon shrug off an Electric attack like it's nothing
-Normal has _never_ been shown as immune to Ghost
-Ghost Pokémon were touted as Ash's best chance against Psychic.
Some of my favorites:
-Sawyer's Slurpuff using Electro Ball. (Later in the Series it was fixed to be using Energy Ball)
-Misty claiming a Ground Type like... Furret... would be a good choice against Pikachu. (Furret is a Normal Type, but it can use a Ground move... Dig)
-Kingler being weak against Air Attacks.
About Ash forgetting Koffing, you gotta remember that Black & White was a soft reboot for people who didn’t grow up in the 90s
I liked B&W, but making Ash "forget" everything was a very unnecessary approach. They should have done it differently.
Ash has never listen what the Pokédex saying about Koffing and Iris & Cilan has never seen one due to Unova region has only Unova Pokémon.
I do wonder if it's the first time we seen a koffing pokedex entry in the anime 🤔 anyways I don't see the big issue with that scene lol if ash hasn't seen a koffing in so many years he probably forgot it he's a kid after all 😂
Used to love this show couldn’t wait to get home from school lol remember my mum bought me my first garados deck after school was buzzing 😂
I think Arbok evolving into Sirviper is the Number 1 mistake left in the Pokemon Anime also the Team Rocket Pokemon Mistaking names from the first movie was fix in the CGI remake years Later.

When I first saw this episode, I knew it was a Growlithe, but I figured maybe Officer Jenny gave him that as a nickname.
Damn!😂I remember spending hours grinding my arbok to evolve it into seviper after watching that episode as a kid😂
Random fact: the three legendary dog Pokemon are actually cats
They're dubbed the Legendary Beasts. Suicune is a kirin.
5:36 They actually *repeat* a pokemon in that rap
Jynx using Ice Beam
Wow, these mistakes really slipped past us! 😮🔍
Something I've been thinking about for a while now: why doesn't Officer Jenny use a Psychic-type Pokemon like Alakazam as a partner, it could use its psychic power to read the minds of potential criminals and could inform Officer Jenny in the same way.
The Jennies may be just field officers. There's more to the force than just the Jennies. In one town in Johto, they used Spinarak.
My Honorable Mentions:
1. Jiraichi speaks, but not in the dub.
2. Jinx's Ice Beam that is not even an Ice Beam.
3. Didn't let what Ash is saying because of the narrator.
4. Pika-dub error (Poketoon).
Maybe in “Mewtwo Strike’s Back” the cloning changed something. That is the only explanation I can find.
Biggest one is how is ash still 10 years old lol
If Arbok evoles to Seviper, then it's name would be Repiv. Which is viper spelled backward and dropped the "se".
To tell the truth Ash you could probably make a list of how many trainers choice results left head scratching
And the "Ursaring cannot evolve" trivia becoming half outdated, as only Johtoan Ursaring cannot evolve, but Hisuian Ursaring can.
Yea, when Mudkip evolves it gains the ground typing but as a Mudkip it's pure water. Lots of little mistakes in the Trainer's choice segment.
The zubat thing is a worldwide error that so many know.
I must say that about 2:00 is not only that but all pokemon lay eggs. No pokemon will be born as a pokemon directly.
