    I low sided doing about 40 about month ago wearing a pair of
    REV'IT! Philly 2 and all I got was a half dollar sized hole and it did not go through the lining. My entire left leg had serious trauma, but zero road rash and no breaks. I landed over 250 lbs on my left knee and rolled my ankle pretty bad. So yeah. I crashed and burned in these jeans and I am pretty sure it kept me out of the emergency room.

    I’m patiently waiting for some reviews on new Kevlar riding shirts. I bought one last year that fit too tight in the arms and the snap buttons were too tight and felt like they were gonna rip out of the cloth material (I read about both issues in the reviews but didn’t think it was as bad as it is). Can’t wait to see what’s new for 2020!

      These have Covec fibers woven into the jean to create a full abrasion resistant chassis. They also have pockets to accept CE Level 2 armor, available here:

    • @A_Ride_To

      Adam B i don’t know about the new John Doe pants but the old models Kamikaze Jeans and Cargo were super high quality with Kevlar not only on the impact zones but the whole pant.
      Here are some important points to note tho:
      1.they fit a size or two smaller compared to let’s say Levi’s Jeans cuz of the Kevlar lining
      2.the knee protection only fits perfectly if your bike has forward or mid controls and a smaller angle then 90• will push the protector sideways on your knee
      3.some videos marketed the old gear as waterproof which it’s not, it’s water resistant and one can bring the resistance back by steam ironing the fabric
      4. iirc the old pants had no option for hip protection

    Draggin jeans, are way priced for you actually get compared to other brands
    Bull-it jeans feel like crap to wear if you get the fully lined type, quite literally it feels like your're got adult nappies on ( the "adult nappies" came from a magazine review of them, personally found them uncomfortable indeed - most noticeable when having to walk with them on) - compressed into jeans, shame because they are great jeans for riding protection
    Resurgence jeans are seriously all day comfortable even with the fully line versions with the latest generation armour as standard in the price of them, level of protection greater than my riding leathers for the abrasion test and with better armour than my leathers, practically live in them as they are that comfortable, one of the best sellers for riding jeans in New Zealand, got two pair of them myself.
    RevZilla, you guys might have to seriously start looking further afield when you do a - product (best of video) cause your choices are looking a bit on the limited side, considering what is actually available over the internet from around the world.
    Case in point - those Resurgence jeans (fully lined with latest gen armour) that are oh so comfortable, that I wear for everyday riding only cost me under $300 NZD each. Food for thought is it not, considering that I'm one of the many riders who put good performance rather than price as the main consideration when buying riding gear, if that gear is of good performance & price so much the better.

    • @martinfoster5163
      @martinfoster5163 4 роки тому

      Lyell Harrington , Draggin jeans are probably one the most protective of the current jeans (AAA and level 2). But, yes, very pricey. The most protective are often the most bulky. That’s just physics. Bull-it makes lots of jeans so it’s best to be specific about which ones. They have oneskin (tactical AA rated), lined (covert AAA) and the discontinued (SR6 level 1, SR8 level 2) ones but still on sale at Revzilla. The Bull-it VeloCE are up there with Draggin for abrasion protection but both are going to be bulky.
      Does Revzilla sell Resurgence? I couldn’t find them on their website. They aren’t going to put videos about jeans they don’t actually sell. There are quite a few great jeans, if that’s your thing, that Revzilla don’t sell. Hood, Resurgence, Roadskin paranoid, and more.

    • @lyellharrington7260
      @lyellharrington7260 4 роки тому

      @@martinfoster5163 Resurgence jeans is an Canadian company and they seriously kicking the likes of Draggin jeans & Bull-it jeans in the wallet in the New Zealand market for the shear value of the performance & fit comfort compared to those brands, the other brands from the european zone are facing the same hit in the wallet.
      99.9999% of the riding kit in New Zealand is imported so been choosy is the best option you have when it comes to buying kit , my riding kit is basically from all over the world except my riding boots they've alway been Italian.
      When I brought my first pair of Resurgence Jeans I had three brand choices to choose from in the shop, each of the jeans were all fully lined to 80% full leg(NO NEED OF 100% LEG COVER DUE TO THE BOOT STYLE I RIDE WITH) & back side cover protection/latest gen armour and straight fit cut style - the winner was Resurgence jeans then Draggin jeans then in distant last Bull-it jeans.
      Was disappointed with the Draggin's due to their excessive price & fit comfort, the Bull-it's were just plain off in the design fit and feel on & off the bike(seriously those riding jeans just didn't work for their purpose), the biggest surprise was the Resurgence jeans - the fit comfort incredible from brand new on & off the bike (like a pair of classic straight fit cut Levi's jeans), the most comfortable temperature wise as well, the armour even comfortable to use( the biggest surprise of the lot) and the best price as well considering that both Draggin's & Bull-it's armour were extra cost.
      The other thing that the Resurgence jeans proved when it comes to fully lined jeans, you don't have to suffer the adult nappies effect - yes you know you're got a fully lined bit of riding kit on but it can be actually comfortable to wear as well. I was not joking about the magazine review of the Bull-it jeans fully lined type been called adult nappies wedged into jeans, got a pair of them myself( why do you think I was in shop in the first place buying a better pair of jeans).
      I'll stand by my words about the guys at Revzilla needing to look further afield when doing a best of product video , the choices they presented were looking very limited, I could go into my local bike shop and order just about anything from the around world when it comes to riding kit from their suppliers.

In those years, I have worn Carhartt Double Duck paneled jeans and because they’re designed (USA MADE too) for internals knee pads, I simply install D30 pads. When done, $75. Of course I look like I’m at work all the time (Structural Weld Supervisor) but I’m not a fashionable guy😄.

      They are pricey, but I ate shit doing over 40 wearing a pair of Revit Philly 2 jeans with C1 armor and they kept me out of the ER. I did have some serious trauma on my left leg, but no breaks or road rash. Just swelling and bruising as I landed on my left knee with about 250lbs plus my bike. Why don't you sell any Armalite products...

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla 4 роки тому

      I think you mean Armalith. Armalith is just a brand name for a specific combination of cotton and UHMWPE fibers. Rokker's high-end RokkerTech Jeans use cotton and UHMWPE in a single layer. The new RokkerTech Rider Jeans use cotton with polyarylate in a single layer to achieve a similar abrasion resistance, so there are a number of options we carry similar to Armalith. -DrewZilla

    Could care less if I look like a Dad after a midlife crisis. Looking for comfy jeans (these look too tight and potential pain in the ass to fit over boots) with good protection and pockets for armor. I figure spending good money on riding jeans beats months of pain and disconfort when 2/3 of your skin is scrapped off on a fall.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla 4 роки тому

      Every single pair of Riding Jeans in this video has some form of Abrasion Resistance built into them. Not all companies use the same materials, but everything on this list is designed to work in a slide. Not sure which one you are referring to but I would recommend taking a look at the product details for whichever one you seem to take issue with. Useless review and I’m a Revzilla customer so it saddens me to say how bad this review is. Look at Motocap reviews (not mentioned once) or EN13595 level 2 (not mentioned once) or EN17092 certified (mentioned just once).
    Riding Jeans are not the best solution. The better solution is to get an abrasive resistant undersuit, such as bull-it’s covec airflow suit. Or some other kevlar like undersuit. Then just wear your favorite jeans on top. The undersuit will keep your protection close where it’s needed. The fashion layer can be whatever you like.
    If you really must buy riding jeans, which is stupid but what the heck, get Draggin’ jeans or Bull-it jeans. Neither of these are mentioned by Revzilla.

    • @raphby
      @raphby 4 роки тому

      Martin Foster Covec Airflow offers only level 1 protection and doesn't mention any of your security standards either. Yikes!

    • @martinfoster5163
      @martinfoster5163 4 роки тому

      Fair point until you dig deeper. The Bull-it Covec airflow suit gets 6 seconds of impact abrasion on EN13595 (tested by Satra) which is not quite enough for level 2 (7 seconds). But more than enough for the new EN17092 AAA (about 4 seconds) in high abrasion zones. You get this all over with the undersuit.
      Furthermore, I don’t wear the undersuit alone. I’ll wear it UNDER race leathers, UNDER textiles, or UNDER motocross clothes. Obviously I’m adding huge protection down to very little extra.
      If I were forced to suggest the best rider jeans at any price, I’d pick Draggin’ Next gen seamless (sold as “Drayko Hole shot jeans” on Revzilla for $400) or Bull-it VeloCE Jeans (discontinued but still available in large sizes for about $125). Both get EN13595 level 2 for around 7+ seconds of slide.
      I’ve got 2 pairs of riding jeans but honestly I don’t wear them much for riding. They don’t fit my typical riding style of mainly adventure (70/30 on/off road).

    • @raphby
      @raphby 4 роки тому

      Martin Foster EN13595 level 2 requires 7 seconds at 18 mph. EN17092 AAA requires the suit to protect against abrasion speeds from 28 (impact zone 3) up to 74 mph (in zone 1).

    • @martinfoster5163
      @martinfoster5163 4 роки тому

      Absolutely correct but that’s where we need to dig deeper again. The Darmstadt machine starts at a certain speed (74mph as you said for zone 1) then drops the material samples onto the concrete and slides to a full stop under the material’s own friction on the concrete tile. From what I’ve heard by experts, this takes about 3-4 seconds for most material. You can watch videos and time it. I can’t explain why because I’m not a scientist but all the jeans that have passed AAA, also get >=3.5 seconds of slide time on the Cambridge machine.
      You can do your own checking. But I’ll make a suggestion: Bull-it covert are AAA jeans and the Motocap time is 3.6 so actually they wouldn’t have actually passed EN13595 level 1! Whereas the older Bull-it SR6 jeans were EN1595 level 1 and average around 5 seconds on Motocap’s Cambridge machine.
      Smarter people than me (PPE scientists/consultants) have said that EN13595 is 40-60% more agressive for abrasion than EN17092. It was made easier for textile makers who complained they couldn’t pass level 1. Like I said, I’m content with AAA or level 1. Level 2 was really designed for racing leathers. In fact, many racing leathers company still use this certification because it was far more stringent than the new one.
      The best I can say about EN17092 AAA is that the garment MUST include level 2 armour in all major impact zones. That’s new and potentially more important than abrasion for accident injuries.
