- According to Austin Police Association President Michael Bullock, the Austin Police Department is currently facing a shortage of officers, and assisting with protests at the University of Texas at Austin this week has added to the strain on the department's resources, leading to officers being pulled from their regular duties, including responding to 911 calls.

Politicians on both parties need to stop misusing police resources. No, you can't cut the police force and expect them to reply to each and every call for help. This is an assault on our First Amendment rights. Use the police for what they were hired for -- keep the peace, not attack 1st Amendment-protected protesters
No law enforcement is "fully functional" they are all incompetent. That's is why they are law enforcement. They only want incompetent people who can't think of themselves and need someone to think for them 🥴🤷
I remember the protests of the 60s. To show their very strong commitment to stopping the Vietnam war, some of the gals took off their shirts and went bear breasted. Now THOSE were some meaningful protests and made a real impact on me I can tell you.
