- An inspiring performance of "The Russian Sailor's Dance" by Michigan high school musicians. Close your eyes and you'd think you were listening to the NY Philharmonic. Besides being the first group from St. Joseph to play in Carnegie Hall (on a Friday night, no less), the conductor, Steve Reed, is retiring after this year. So this is his last class. In full disclosure, I was in his first -- the class of 1977.
In 1976/77,Steve Reed was my music teacher @ Marcellus High school. He was a great teacher and a good friend. I new then he was destined for bigger and better things.
I'm proud to have meet him....thanks for the video
Thanks for posting. I'll pass this on to many in the area who are so interested in hearing about the trip.
WOW! Powerful and moving. You guys are awesome.
Heck yes!! I'm going into the high school next year, and I'm in orchestra, so I'm looking forward to doing something like this :D Mr. Reed Is the coolest orchestra teacher :3 So is Mrs. Cabinilla - Sinnett, and Mr. Lokey :3
my high school (this one) has one of the best orchestra's in the state. possibly country.
@humantorchkid1994
I was one of the freshman that played, and I played viola(: It was really an amazing experience! We also got to play in the Shostakovitch which I thought was a good experience.
@humantorchkid1994 did all of the orchestras play or just syphony and chamber?
