I watched this movie a few years ago. You should definitely watch the whole thing, its way way cooler in full. The aliens, the language, the time travel in the language, its insane to witness slowly unfold. This summary is nice but doesn't do it justice.
If life is actually as rare as we believe, then I find it hard to believe that aliens would be a threat. I think they be just as fascinated about us as we are about them.
Fun fact: Shang's wife's dying words were "In war, there are no winners, only widows". Director Denis Villeneuve intentionally left it untranslated, wanting to focus on Banks using her premonitions to convince him to lay down his weapons. Screenwriter Eric Heisserer was not a fan of this, and revealed the English translation at the premiere.
@ZehnHero ok, so you admit we're killing animals too and in massive numbers. Now what if aliens landed on earth and started treating us exactly the same way we treat animals ? Save a couple and murder billions. You'd be cool with it ? Just a dumb example that should make even someone like you think. PS not sure if you knew, but cows, pigs don't kill other animals

Abbott knew he was going to die. Abbott knew from the moment he was going to die because the alien language allows a circle of time you can see the beginning and the end. The aliens offer language that have power
If humanity sent sushi chefs we would've cured the worlds hunger for the biggest calamary feast ever... x_X But I wonder what is that help they need 3000 years later about? This needs a part 2 where that plot is the center of the story. It would definitely be intriguing. (maybe fighting the other aliens or predators?)
Richter's 'On the Nature of Daylight' was so powerful in this movie. I was absolutely invested, and the slow-building climax was all the more impactful as the violins and cellos helped reveal the true nature of her dreams.
The movie was great! One of the biggest misconception about aliens is that they're always trying to be hostile. They're literally smarter than us. Imagine having the ability to travel through space with that level of technology, which humans could never (for now I think), and then taking over the planet when they have the technological means to sustain themselves? Now that's the biggest lie ever. Best possibility for coming would be to research about the intelligent life in the planet. That's why I love the movie so much, it's unique
The unknown is scary, and I guess humans feel like if “we stay ready, we ain’t gotta get ready” but I don’t think it’s right. If we saw more movies like this, people probably wouldn’t be as scared of them. They won’t be looked at as bad, when indeed their are good ones too
This movie is the most sophisticated one ever made in this topic. Absolutely brilliant, original and finally one that does not show aliens as a threat.
That gall to think that striking an alien race that traveled through space and time would work in your favor. The only thing that insures our survival is peace.
She goes back to school the day after the spacecraft arrived and no one is there because classes are indefinitely cancelled? I certainly hope the full movie explains why she is the only one who had to drag her butt to school to find this out. She doesn't have a phone? No email?

I watched this movie a few years ago. You should definitely watch the whole thing, its way way cooler in full. The aliens, the language, the time travel in the language, its insane to witness slowly unfold. This summary is nice but doesn't do it justice.
Dont forget the amazing soundtrack
If life is actually as rare as we believe, then I find it hard to believe that aliens would be a threat. I think they be just as fascinated about us as we are about them.
yeah
Based on the Drake equation life is either teaming with it or we are an anomaly both scenarios are scary
Imagine if the heptopods can speak english and theyre drawing random circle to mess with them?
Fun fact: Shang's wife's dying words were "In war, there are no winners, only widows". Director Denis Villeneuve intentionally left it untranslated, wanting to focus on Banks using her premonitions to convince him to lay down his weapons. Screenwriter Eric Heisserer was not a fan of this, and revealed the English translation at the premiere.
Lesson of the day: even in movies, our governments rely too much on their military's firepower.
Arrival is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's got such a good atmosphere and an incredible plot. 10/10 would recommend
This movie only shows how disgusting we are as a species.
Damn didnt know Ganyu was on the side of the Herrscher Of Dominence lol
yes, we are. We are the worst thing that happened to this planet
And stop being disgusting. Simple.
@@terrorsquadlith cows and pigs most definitely have killed other animals, for survival, other animals have done plenty for "fun" toward other animals
cows will literally eat snakes if they have a protein deficiency and Pigs will eat live rodents if theyre hungry and the rodents wander a little too close
Orcas decapitate seals and play volleyball with their heads, and Dolphins will pleasure themselves with the decapitated bodies of fish, to completion.
this "humans are the greatest evil grr" rhetoric is silly, we're not the only ones capable of cruelty. So maybe rethink the goofy idea of "maybe we're the real monsters" and review what other animals do in nature before you try and say we're somehow exclusive in cruelty/odd violent behavior
I love the way you summarize these movies, it so simple and easy to understand, thank you!!
This stuff right there just expanded my already colossal imagination
Why is this so wholesome. Never seen this approach to aliens before, I love it
Poor Abbot… He didn’t deserve any of that. This video gave me some varying emotions
I actually love the story and i admire the writers. They're legit genius people, also i appreciate the fact that the aliens wanted to be saved by us who are merely no match for them.. i wonder that happen in 3000 years.
This movie was so gooood. More aliens coming to earth type movies should do this
Amazing story, truly, I’d really love to see the sequel
this was the best science fiction movie ive ever seen, I'm really surprised it didn't get more praise , I guess a lot of people didn't understand it or give it a shot.
People dont appreciate slow paced, intelligent movies.
They want endless explosions and corny 1 liners.
I absolutely love this channel. All these movies I never had or have time to check out, I can watch in a fraction of the time
Thus movie confused the heck out of me, especially with that twist at the end. Thought of giving up halfway through but still found it intriguing lol
I really Loved this Movie, I want more like it, those that teach me something
Lois Lane falls in love with both Superman and Hawkeye. Man she's addicted to superheroes.
Superhero groupie. lol
This movie fascinated me when I watched it and it reminds me of my teenage life when I come up.with strange scientific theories, alchemy etc. Damn those days 😭
i have refused to watch anything on UA-cam other than this channel for 2 days, this channel is so addictive
Abbott knew he was going to die. Abbott knew from the moment he was going to die because the alien language allows a circle of time you can see the beginning and the end. The aliens offer language that have power
"wanna make a baby?" was the greatest line I heard in a movie theater when I saw this movie.
If humanity sent sushi chefs we would've cured the worlds hunger for the biggest calamary feast ever... x_X
But I wonder what is that help they need 3000 years later about? This needs a part 2 where that plot is the center of the story. It would definitely be intriguing. (maybe fighting the other aliens or predators?)
Holy crap that was deep !!!! Good job 👍
Humanity would be doomed on first contact with those aliens.
This movie is golden ngl, cried also, dunno why but yeah
The unknown is scary, and I guess humans feel like if “we stay ready, we ain’t gotta get ready” but I don’t think it’s right. If we saw more movies like this, people probably wouldn’t be as scared of them. They won’t be looked at as bad, when indeed their are good ones too
This movie is the most sophisticated one ever made in this topic. Absolutely brilliant, original and finally one that does not show aliens as a threat.
Anyone else think hectopods are kinda cute?? I would gladly let them take over, they’d be squirting ink and what not
this channel is so good. You should do popular tv series
That gall to think that striking an alien race that traveled through space and time would work in your favor. The only thing that insures our survival is peace.
I'm getting addicted of videos like this
Aliens: we have given you the ability to read the future
Simpsons writers: Ok, and?
She goes back to school the day after the spacecraft arrived and no one is there because classes are indefinitely cancelled?
I certainly hope the full movie explains why she is the only one who had to drag her butt to school to find this out. She doesn't have a phone? No email?
She didn't even know about the aliens until the students got her to turn on the TV, and needed to borrow a phone to call China, so she probably doesn't. xD -Or just doesn't want the long distance charges on her bill.-
Been waitinh for this movie since I first saw your channel. This film is on another level.
This is one of the best time travel/alien invasion movies I've "watched"
When the real aliens decide to say "sup" I hope their vibe is this chill.. 🤗
I loved watching this movie
I watched this at my previous school during english class, honestly such a refreshing story and artistically impactful
This movie is actually great, I recommend yall to watch it👌
Of course China cannot be reasoned with.

thank you for this recap. ive watch this movie before and couldnt understand it but now i understand everything. thank you
This story line is actually taken from a Kurt Vonnegut novel - Slaughterhouse-five. Such a good book highly recommend.
_Arrival_ is based on the 1998 short story "Story of Your Life" by Ted Chiang.
Early AGAIN!!!!!!♥️🙈
Cause people always think like aliens will always be hostile but most aliens if there are any will probably act like how humans do if we ever meet we attack, they attack, we keep peace, they will keep peace like why don’t people get that.
damn my country Venezuela be dealing with aliens
Aliens: We needed your help and y’all killed our nigga
Humans: Shoulda Spoke American
