    I'm coming to the end of our 1st year homeschool. Just 1 kid in school so far, but have a toddler and infant. So its been tough. I started the year planning things out weekly and then after many times not getting to what I thought we would and postponing lesson plan over and over and needing to rewrite I started to just wing it everyday and write down what we actually accomplished. That worked out much better that way. I just found it way too stressful and frustrating to attempt sticking to a schedule and lesson plans with a 2yr old and infant. Plus the lack of sleep with the baby.

      Yes! Its so easy to plan all of these fun learning ideas when the kids are asleep, but then the morning comes and reality hits and there just isn't a way to get it all done! I hope by writing down all the things you did do, you've been able to see just how much you ARE actually getting done. Homeschooling with a toddler is no easy task. You've got this mama!

    It's encouraging to see another mom bouncing back and forth between two kids and having them wait their turn for help. That's what I do for my kids too. They're 5 and 7 but both doing 1st grade level LA, so we do those lessons together. But for Math my oldest is in 2nd grade level so I bounce between them helping them work it out.

      It's a learning curve for them and sometimes I feel like my brain is going to explode lol but it had the bonus of good character training for them when they have to wait. 🤍

    Totally agree with the quiet time for the whole family. That made a huge difference when all of mine were little. You have an adorable family. Have a great year! ~Misty🙂

    Do you have a link to the homeschool planner you use to reverse plan? I’m new to homeschooling all 5 of mine, but like your planner!

    Love how you change it up in all the different spots in your house! Would you mind telling me where you got the floor table trays? They look so useful!

      Yes! Thank you! I actually got them at Michaels for $8! I think Hobby Lobby has them sometimes too and I've seen them in the Target dollar spot but Targets version isn't as sturdy. Amazon has this version but its twice as much. 😩 amzn.to/3Q0sTMV

    Hello there just found your channel. I am located close to Bedford Va. just curious if you’re anywhere close and how difficult it is to homeschool. Brand new to this and I am terrified lol! I was public schooled and do not know where to begin and have a rising kindergartner 😅

      Hi! I’m not close to Bedford. We are further south. While I think it’s a joy to be with my kids and homeschool them, I don’t want to pretend that homeschooling is a piece of cake either. Homeschooling definitely has difficulties. It can take a lot of work, but that’s why it’s really important to consider your “why” behind homeschooling and always keep it in mind as your foundation when it gets hard. That being said, it’s also SO MUCH fun to be the one to see your kids learn and grow! Especially kindergarten. I LOVE teaching my kids kindergarten. It’s very low pressure and there are so many fun learning ideas! I’ll have a rising kindergartener this fall too, so definitely check out my instagramI! And check my homeschooling in Virginia video!

    Hey! I’m super new to homeschool… first person in my family to do this but decided to do it this year with my kindergartner. Idk whether I’m not impressed with the curriculum we chose or more impressed that my daughter is so advanced based on the curriculum given. I feel like I’m not doing enough so if I choose to do it next year should I look into Abeca? Or is this a normal feeling?

    • @pillarsandpress
      @pillarsandpress 8 місяців тому +1

      Hey! Thanks for reaching out! It's hard to say for sure without knowing your curriculum, but I had a similar experience with my first daughter even using Abeka. She was basically reading before we started, so the first few months of kindergarten were super simple for her. Most kindergarten programs are fairly gentle, especially in the beginning, but I would err on the side of letting it be gentle, building a solid foundation, and letting your daughter feel successful and accomplished vs trying to do too much!
