I'm indian. I haven't tried these candies but I think I'd like it. I'm assuming it's not as spicy as hajmola.
It's really funny to us Mexicans seeing how people react to the candy and snacks we grow up on. It's all either sweet and spicy or made with tamarindo and it's so delicious and I love seeing how many people are either offput by it or become obsessed hahaha

To be fair some Mexican candies are more on the sweet-acid-spicy combination, but you should try more of the typical candies, like tortitas de santa clara or dulce de leche
The spicy watermelon candy grows on you, I remember washing the spice away with water when I was a kid but now I love that spice

If you take some hot water and dissolve all the coating off the watermelon lollipop it’s pretty good, I also sometimes leave a little and it’s a lot less overpowering and tastes more balanced that way. It’s kinda extra but it works🤣

I had those same watermelon pops, ordered a bunch of them. They are something that grows on you. It's best after you've been eating it for a few minutes so the outside coating is mostly dissolved.
Mexican candy is delicious, it’s definitely very different from American candy, but my dad always brought some home when he came home from visiting our customers in Mexico, a lot of it is very interesting 😊
It’s different from every cultures candy, only we like to torture ourselves and burn our tongues off with spicy/sour/lead combinations 😂

One time my mom brought some for me and my brothers and my brother ( the middle child) ate the whole thing in a day. Let's just say my brother still gets them in la bonita when he gets the chance.
I actually wasn’t too big of a fan when I had them. Just gave me a peanuty chemical taste but I wanna try it again. My favorite by far is Duvalin. Soooo good.

Mazapan is also sold in the states bordering mexico and also some gas stations in indian reservations in those states.

What I noticed growing up in a hispanic school is that mexican and desi culture are super similar in many aspects but when it comes to the candy desis hate Mexican candy and Mexicans hate desi candy, there is no in between

When i was younger I would take the spicy watermelon lollipop, put it under water so the powder could go away and enjoyed the sweetness of the candy
The spicy watermelon lollipops are definitely not for everyone, I recommend more the version without the spiciness, it has that classic artificial watermelon taste, but it's super good.

The thing with mexican spicy lollypops is that the first licks are always too salty and sour because of the chili coating but as you uncover the sweet watermelon lollypop underneat you get the good taste, until the chili is finished and then it gets too sweet.

You have to get Dow to the candy of the lollipop. The sweet mixes well with the salty spicy coating.

You should try tamarind soda or tamarind candies. They are so good. Cubans mix the paste with sugar, roll them into balls, and make candies out of it. It’s really good and the sweetness is very mild.

You have to get through the outside coating of the lollipop, the flavors on the inside. It's very similar to a mango lollipop that has chili powder on the outside.

For the last one you have to get to the middle of it to really taste it 😊
If you lick most of the tajin off of the watermelon lollipop, it’s actually really good! Once you get a taste of the lollipop.

You got to power though the tajin on the watermelon lollipops. I grew up on these living in the south west US. At first it used to be very strong and overpowering but I got used to it and eventually started to like the tajin covering more than the lollipop underneath.
Mexican candy can be really overwhelming for someone who has never tried it, the sour mixed with spice, mixed with sweet is an almost electric shock feeling. growing up in Southern California we we we're eating it at the same age our Mexican friends were, so we're used to it.
I swear this is the mexican starter pack, guaranteed you start with these in your household.

A lot of ppl think all of them are just spicy and sweet but we have lots of hood sugary ones w different sweet flavors like duvalin tres leches flan chicle paletas fresas con crema raspas con crema palleta de manos and sm more as someone who also like more of a sugary sweet than a spicy sugary sweet I feel you

I'm not really a sugar person. I don't really like soda, and I never eat desserts, but peanut butter is a kryptonite of mine. That being said I cannot resist mazapan. I usually only find it at crappy gas stations or on the counter at Mexican restaurants, but anytime I see them, I always buy 4 or 5. They are so addicting. Getting them out of the package without breaking them is such a pain, but it's very satisfying to actually bite into it instead of drinking the powder.
