- Mike and El have a lot of interesting symbolism throughout their scenes that highlight their relationship problems. Let’s analyze that and their scenes together in Season 4, Volume 1.
Again, this video is not intended to hurt shippers or fuel a ship war. I simply wanted to analyze Mike and El’s scenes and see the differences. Please try to be civil in comments.

I think maybe mike being paralleled to father figures is because his relationship with el is being paralleled to his parents relationship and he acts like his dad

@@LoganPAILLL Yes, ESPECIALLY in the dinner scene! It directly parallels the first episode where his mother leaves the table and says "enjoy your chicken, Ted" because he sat and continued eating
Literally all he had to say was “and you’re a somebody” but he just HAD TO say “and you’re a superhero”….cmon Mike.
It was actually improvised by the actor so I wonder if he actually thought so hard about this lol

Another thing in el’s bedroom is that the lighting is very bright. Not dark like the fight between mike and will in season 3. Just something I wanted to point out but I love your analysis videos
I saw another post where it pointed out the scene of them making out, the curtains are closed, but when the truth comes out, it's so bright because the curtains are open!
I’ve always been very decided on the fact that Will is most likely gay and likes Mike- they do make that abundantly clear to the audience in my opinion. But until your analysis vids, I haven’t been fully convinced that Mike’s feelings were reciprocated just because of my own doubts on whether the Duffer Brothers would be ballsy enough to give some more lgbtq representation- but yeah you have opened my eyes lol. I definitely agree now and before watching, that Eleven’s arc is steered towards her independence (big fan of platonic El) but your analysis of Mike has put the puzzle together arguably quite clearly- great video :-) we’ll see what happens in season 5
You should check out the films that inspired stranger things the Duffers watch quite a bit of queer films!

also, someone pointed out on a tumblr post the Mike never really calls her a girl when he talks about her. Then I noticed that he usually refers to her as superhero, superman or person rather than girl, heroine or Supergirl or superwoman or Wonder Woman

I always say Mileven as Just another Stancy and Byler being Jancy. Like Jonathan being will, Nancy being mike and Steve being el. I also get how Mike can’t say “I love you” to people because of his parents and blah blah but Mikes letter to Will says otherwise.

mike and will kissing in the upside down in the wheeler’s garage in s5 caused the garage lights to flicker in s1 episode 1 when will left the wheeler’s residence to go home
even though I love byler, will wasn’t supposed to start having a crush on mike until season two the light at the garage was just to sign a Demogorgon was near will in the upside down

This is why there is a deliberate set up with Eddie and Mike this season, you’re suppose to think about that. Eddie is also serving a purpose to further Dustin’s character development as well.

And the whole thing of eddie being known as the freak and preaching about how not embracing differences is what literally kills kids (like will, who hates himself bc hes different). I thought it was kind of bizarre how much they had eddie parallel will as a character. Even the whole thing where he projects onto el-- tons of ppl have been quick to point out how it was very similar to what eddie did with Nancy when he was talking to steve.
Even though I ship will and Mike. I do think Mike cares for El as a friend, but is to scared to end their romantic relationship.
The talk in El's room makes no sense when looked closely, thanks for pointing it out. I loved this!

Always mentioned (by Mike) at least since season 1 started showing up visually between them at the end of season 2. Always framed behind Mike’s head in season 3 and then season 4 is quite literally every scene. There is no scenes between Mike and El that Will isn’t there. Zero.

Because he explained to Will the reason why he wasn't saying, he was scared that el didn't need him anymore.
And he explained his fears, way after him and el had that fight. It's already been explained why he said "I say it. Instead of I love you" there and then

I agree with most of this but some of them are a lil delulu (no hate not trying to start anything)
This is a CLEAR example of the fans thinking way too hard about things. Much harder than the people who actually made it. So, let me help you out. The parallels you are seeing are simply a result of people like costume designers being influenced by things they themselves watch it's not some super secret conspiracy. The filmmakers. Have made it very clear that Will IS gay and Mike is not. His love for Eleven is the entire basis of his character. Mike is not gay- The entire series has told you that.
