I’ve been a K-State fan my entire life…but that touchdown run by Jay Sims where he got hit by 2 guys head on, kept his feet, and found the end zone is one of the greatest touchdown runs that I have ever seen
I would have loved for them to have faced a respectable OU team during this time. Their main nemesis throughout the years, sucked during the NC years. 94, 95, 97 they faced several good CO teams, Miami, TN and FL. Who else? KSU's Synder wound up with a 5-36 record against top 10 teams. Fulmer was 8-7 in bowls, and Spurrier was 6-5 in bowls. IE most of the time, with great, cough, teams both sucked when bowl time came around. Osborn did not find his way at the end, he had the luxury of the stars aligning like they did for Fulmer in 98.
@robjohnson8861 In 1980 loss to Georgia Tech the eventual National Champs . Loss to Clemson in 81 22-15 QB Turner Gill was hurt for that game. In 82 only loss at Penn State who went undefeated and the eventual National Champions . Can’t say the Cornhuskers didn’t have their chances to win a National Championship before their dominance in the 90’s. Some college football program go figure ….
This was a damn good Nebraska team, and they WOULD have beaten Michigan had they played. Tough game? Sure, but Nebraska had a way better offense than Michigan, and their special teams were fantastic.
You've heard it a zillion times. Defense wins games. * Mi had the #1 defense, Neb #4. plus * Mi SOS was 38, Neb 45. Neb played weaker teams and therefore their offensive stats were better. * Head to head against CO, Michigan won by 24, Neb by 3. Same against Baylor. MI did not allow a score in either. * Neb got the luxury of facing Manning. When it mattered, he didn't. 14-13 in playoffs (60th). 1 TD drive in both super bowls.
