Unfortuately it is not back as she's lip syncing here. People say "Who cares! Everyone lip syncs!". The problem is she is the most famous representative of her medical condition, and this gives false expectations to everyone else on the planet who has this condition, and is maybe a singer themselves. If it were me I would be very frustrated that Celine Dion seemingly completely beat her condition (or works around it successfully) and I can't!
She's truly one of THE most incredible vocalists to ever grace this planet. You couldn't ask for a better comeback. She's just...I'm speechless. She's such a beautiful human.
As a French girl, Celine truly did the impossible and I am still overwhelmed by her performance. This was pure masterclass. That was pure poetry in motion. How she was able to pull that off will forever be a mystery to me. L'Hymne à l'Amour was the song I literally couldn't stop singing during my middle school years. This song is so HARD to sing that I could never master it. It brings back so many memories. I was humming it not even a few days ago. But now? I feel unworthy because Celine took it to a place that makes it untouchable to human beings. Knowing what she had to endure. Knowing that she could relate to every lyric to the song because she went through loss and grief... The power she brought to the song. She even sang with the innocence and vulnerability we can hear in some of her older French songs such as "Ziggy" or "D'amour ou d'amitié" which is absolutely crazy! I will never recover from her rendition. I am on my knees Céline. Thank you so much for this moment ❤
Je suis 100% d accord. I totally agree she really gave an impeccable rendition of this big difficult beautiful song. Respect! She is the "goat" for me.
ah.. "Ziggy"... as a queer man the first time I heard that I broke down sobbing. And all of my first French environment experience was in Montreal 1983-1985.. I didnt make it to Paris until 1986.
I loved every word you said. We witnessed one of the most epic moments in the history of music and art in general. Celine is simply from another planet!!
I think we were all with her in that moment , so beautiful to hear her voice soaring over Paris , the one and only Celine Dion in all her glory , breathtaking performance
She really follows the tones and stresses of Edith Piaf's original performance - a lot of the shifts between the power and the softness are just magnificently reproduced rather than choices she's making. Don't get me wrong -- she is definitely making choices here and there and putting her own mark on it -- but a significant part is just her doing the song JUSTICE. Which she absolutely did.
I agree, and that´s the way covers should really be. Do the song justice, don’t ruin the original, just add your voice but don’t try to outsing the original artist cause you’ll ruin the whole thing. Just add your personality by adding your voice, that’s what Celine did… and she made history.
I agree, she really did justice to Edith Piaf, unfortunately this voice teacher didn't think it was important to discuss anything related to this... too bad... this was a historic performance ... We are so fortunate that Celine fought hard to bring us this performance, I really hope that there are more to come...
@@lucyculinescu8848 Well, I commented because it seemed from the video that he might not be as familiar with the original recording as some of us. I can give him a pass on some of the research, let alone knowing what the words meant when she stressed specific ones. ✌️
It was perfect. At times I thought I was listening to THE Edith Piaf, especially the ascending glissandos & slightly harsher tone than Celine would ever actually use in powerful moments. It moved me to tears.
Last night, Céline Dion was breathtakingly wonderful, extraordinary, bravo bravo!!!! I was so emotional watching and listening to Céline Dion sing. I’m crying watching this analysis of her performance. I never thought that I would ever hear Celine sing again, knowing her health struggles. I love your call out at 8:58 with the vocal turnaround. It’s like Celine made sure to throw in her vocal watermark saying “you KNOW this is me right here”. One of my favorite parts of this performance.
I am from the same Province in Canada that Céline is from. I am at least 12 yrs older than Her… I saw Her grow from a young girl (She was 12 yrs old when She started). I witnessed Her successes, Her stumbling blocks and Her victories. Tonight was a Victory for Her. I went to see Her live , 34 yrs ago, when Her first english album hit the Charts … She as worked hard all Her life. My children have grown up with her songs in our Home. She was, She is and will always be this Legend of a Singer. She has gone through so much with Her health. So many of us feel for Her in this part of the world. She is our National Treasure. Tonight, I cried my eyes out because it was the strong Céline, singing with her Heart and emotions that is deeply ingrained inside of Her. One also has to know the story behind Edith Piaf particular song to truly comprehend the meaning it had for Madame Piaf and the people of France because Madame Piaf was their National Treasure. Céline rendered it with the same emotion because She has gone through personal griefs. Tonight, I feel, was a moment in time for Her within the brightly lit Tour Eiffel. Vive Céline!!!!! ❤
Celine Dion’s voice has always have that soaring quality that washes over an entire stadium or in this instance the entire city, and rings like the clearest resonant bell. The sheer power of her belts, the precision of her pitch, the execution of those vocal dispersions so tastefully done that it added drama, certainly make this a true masterclass in vocals.
I watched this on TV with my family, and all of us were speechless. To see her delivering this incredible performance after everything she has been through was such a magical moment.
It is truly remarkable, when you keep in mind she is undoubtedly in immense pain throughout that whole performance. Maintaining breath control and powerful vocals as she did is no small feat. Beautiful.
What are you talking about???? It is a simple issue of wear and tear of her voice, and that StiffMan Syndrome comes only in episodes, thus not affecting her at all
@@leandroesteban7178I should ask you the same question. Wear and tear of her voice is NOT all that it’s about. It’s Stiff Person Syndrome, not Stiff Man’s Syndrome. Seizures can come out of nowhere and pain does as well. Not to mention that one encourages the other and it isn’t always clear when symptoms may get worse. It’s probable that she had to really work towards getting through that without stressing her body too much. But go off like you’re an expert.
In addition to the incredible courage it took to step out there in front of a zillion people and sing full out - knowing her muscles and vocal cords could freeze up at any time - what self control not to break down crying in the emotion of the moment. She has missed singing so much. A true musician like her cannot live without music. She is an instrument of art and we are so lucky to have had years of listening to her sing at her best (which was, like, every time she opened her mouth.) She has impeccable technique, and respect for the vocal instrument, And she's just so incredibly talented and open. I so love her. I cried my eyes out watching this. That first note -- goosebumps of anticipation. Roaring with the crowd.
Absolutely agree with everything you've written. I sobbed watching it live and still get emotional when I watch replays. I love too that she took in the moment. She nailed it for us and herself. Incredibly emotional for so many reasons. Edith Piaff would have been proud of this rendition.
I'm listening to all the vloggers and their comments, I'm still in tears how she rendered the song with all her utmost emotions. Magnificent and excellent!
The musical term for a vocal slide is a glissando. This performance was a tour de force. And what enormous courage Celine Dion has! A Stiff Person Syndrome episode could have intervened at any time. 👏👏👏
Exactly! I was on the edge of my seat worrying that her singing full on like that -- especially when she went into her powerful belt (more like mix belt but you know what I mean). All I could think was -- no Celine! Don't risk it! Then again the best way to sing past an issue is to commit. And commitment is Dion's middle name. Celine Courage Commitment Incomparable Dion.
Thank goodness she has a really good team of medical people helping her - she is on an array of medication that has allowed her to regain ground and reconnect with her vast performance capabilities. Can you believe this was the first time she'd performed in public since 2020? I cannot imagine the level of bravery this took.
Interesting analysis. As a French-speaking Quebecer, I was able to appreciate her emotional interpretation of this song. But I do have the impression that even for someone who doesn't understand French, could feel the emotion! Clearly, she had prepared well for this classic French song. A better interpretation than the one she gave at the American Music Award. Still strong, but with a lot of nuance. better felt. Definitely not the same emotions... She kept us waiting until the very end, the last one to play, but what a comeback! She's given herself nothing less than the Tour Effel.
Totally agree, from a trying-to-speak-more- French person from the UK. I know a little French, but understood all the emotion just because of the way Céline sang it. And she definitely sang it better this time than at the American event. Beautiful and what a comeback!! She’s a total star!🌟

That video made my day i really wanted a deep analyses from a trusted vocal coach ❤ thanks you so much for this upload celine dion was special to me this one is too
It brought me to tears, both because of her own tragic backstory and the song she sang borne of heartbreak, Edith Piaf's "Hymne à l'amour", composed after her lover was killed in a plane crash. If you know what the lyrics mean you'd have to have a heart of stone not to feel it: If the sky should fall into the sea And the stars fade all around me For the times that we have known here I will sing a hymn to love We have lived and dreamed, we two alone In a world that seemed our very own With it's memory ever grateful Just for you, I'll sing a hymn to love I remember each embrace The smile that lights your face And my heart begins to sing Your arms, the hands secure Your eyes that said, "Be sure" And my heart begins to sing If one day we had to say goodbye And our love were to fade away and die In my heart you will remain dear I will sing a hymn to love Those who love will live eternally In the blue, where all is harmony With my voice raised high to heaven Just for you, I'll sing a hymn to love.
In fact. She composed and performed the song a month BEFORE her lover died in an airplane crash. The night she learned of his accidental death, she went on stage and sang the song in his honor.
🥰🥰💞The planet is still picking up their jaws from the floor or drying their tears!! What a historic moment, we will talk about this for the next 50 years! BTW, you also have a beautiful voice!!!❤👌
My favorite line of this song at the end sounds like a love letter to her fans after she has to step away from the stage because of her health: « Dieu réunit ceux qui s’aiment » God reunited those who love each other. I felt that was pointed straight to all of her fans that are rooting for her.
the song written by Piaf was her tribute to the love of her live, french boxer Marcel Cerdan.. Who was killed in an air france flight from Paris to New York on his way to see her performance. She wrote and sang this song several months later.
I sobbed a LOT. and woke up for six days straight with Celine's voice in my head. Zero complaints. Also IMMEDIATELY thought of you, was SURE I had already subbed. Fixed THAT!
This was one of the moments I was so happy to be alive during this time, which isn't something that many of my generation can say considering the times we live in. Thank you Celine, for sharing your moments with us. Also, about you, I just discovered your channel, and I am also totally enamored by your voice, and your delivery makes me smile! You definitely have a new subscriber here!
I was so proud of her!!! especially what she went through...and what our country is going through now, it was nice to have this song on the front of all the nations celebrating togetherness.
This olympic opening would probably gone down as a failure but for a genius of voice saving it. Forget the illness, forget the rain, forget everything, Dion held a billion people with her voice. People weeped, people could not speak, pweople sang, never seen anything like it.
What an honor we all have, to witness this moment! Absolutely TRIUMPHANT! The power of manifestation is real man. This woman literally willed herself to sing again! Knowing a small part of her story, makes this triumph that much more special! Celine is one of modern music‘s absolute treasures…may she continue do the thing she clearly loves so much, for many more years to come! La Riene! 👸🏼❤️
Never seen any of your videos before, but have watched many vocal coach videos in the past few years. Dude, you're AWESOME! You didn't nit-pick every little thing, you hit all the highlights, and most importantly.. you SANG an example of what you were talking about, instead of just spouting words. "Show and Tell" mastery right there, becoming a very unique "Sing and Tell". Your reaction and analysis of Celine's performance gets a "10" from me for sure! OMG! Great job!!! (P.s. if ever you want to re-visit the performance again in a future video, maybe try a comparison between Celine and the original Edith Piaff.) LOVED IT!!!!!
Bravo, Céline, personne n'aurait pu chanter piaf aussi bien que vous, avec autant de maîtrise, de talent et d'émotion. You are the best singer in the world Welcome back!
I cried the whole time watching it live ... her power and vocal beauty 🤩 I am also amazed at how she incorporates aspects of Edith Piaf´s singing style but still makes it her own song. Singing in her native language is better than English IMO
The way the tone of her voice delivers the message is crazy. I've a huge fan of her since my childhood and now, i couldn't be prouder of my choice and taste in music.
I loved her performance because it sounded beautiful, but I appreciate it even more now after hearing your analysis! Thank you for that breakdown - very cool stuff!
what an amazing performance....that stellar voice....and her journey back from her illness is incredible....so happy to see her back, looking beautiful and sounding amazing...what a triumph
I think it is a live performance. You can clearly hear some of her vibrato and breath throughout the microphone in some parts. Even the live resonance at “si tu me le demandais” 5:52
Yeah, I'm about 85% in the side of live -- there are a couple of moments that aren't synced perfectly, but it's when they changed cameras so distance and not having every camera perfectly synced could explain it. It didn't look off, just like 0.05 second behind.
@@jsb331 it’s a diffusion issue. Note that they were giant screens all over the city of Paris. And her voice was sounding the hole places, fan zones, public screens places surrounding there. So, when the camera was far from the Eiffel, you could hear some difference in the broadcast delivery from screens to screens surrounding Paris. It is my explanation on this changing Cameras fact. I think it was live!
It was a live performance. Céline does not do lip sync. Actually you can see the rain pouring down on many camera shots. One more thing they did rehearse at 3am the night before on the tower without blasting the sound all over the site. Just in-ear monitor.
Perfection. This is the most beautiful performance of anyone singing any song anywhere. If you do not understand the French language please look up the English translation of the lyrics. The emotion she showed was not an act. This song was to her husband, Rene, who passed away some time ago. Absolutely beautiful.
Yeah, her husband who brought her songs to sing in a silver platter. Celine's life was a struggle for her, but not for us...She did lost her famous husband, and she wore down her voice a bit...
A thought I had while watching was the absolutely insane view she had of Paris while singing this! It would be an incredible feeling. Yet, she was singing to each person in the audience as well. so cool!
The knowledge that she could have had a seizure at any point of that performance. Before, in the middle, near or after the end... My goodness. I have to watch this video before bed every night. It makes so happy.
I cried . No matter what she sang, I even looked for the lyrics, but I had already cried because I felt the passion and overcoming Tks Jaron, love your videos, i'm From Brasil
I love Celine one the greatest vocalists in the world, but she did not sing live. This was a heavily pitch corrected pre-recorded track from her rehearsal the night before. We all know Celine is a truly spectacular vocalist, but did not sing live that evening. She performed. Just like Whitney's Star Spangled Banner, she was singing into a dead mic on purpose. What we all heard was a pre-recorded studio version.
I cried. After watching her documentary, I am sooooooo proud of my girl. Ugggghhhh what a beautiful testimony

It brought me to tears, both because of her own tragic backstory and the song she sang borne of heartbreak, Edith Piaf's "Hymne à l'amour", composed after her lover was killed in a plane crash. If you know what the lyrics mean you'd have to have a heart of stone not to feel it: If the sky should fall into the sea
And the stars fade all around me
For the times that we have known here
I will sing a hymn to love
We have lived and dreamed, we two alone
In a world that seemed our very own
With it's memory ever grateful
Just for you, I'll sing a hymn to love
I remember each embrace
The smile that lights your face
And my heart begins to sing
Your arms, the hands secure
Your eyes that said, "Be sure"
And my heart begins to sing
If one day we had to say goodbye
And our love were to fade away and die
In my heart you will remain dear
I will sing a hymn to love
Those who love will live eternally
In the blue, where all is harmony
With my voice raised high to heaven
Just for you, I'll sing a hymn to love.
thank you for the context
Certainly, Céline Dion knows this type of love with the loss of her beloved husband,Rene.
In fact. She composed and performed the song a month BEFORE her lover died in an airplane crash. The night she learned of his accidental death, she went on stage and sang the song in his honor.
Thank you for this
Beautiful, but not the translation of Hymne à l’amour…
8:59 Yes, my God, so Céline, what a spectacular performance from the legend
Best analysis I watched so far, you have an amazing voice, I am from Québec and I speak french. Bravo !
🥰🥰💞The planet is still picking up their jaws from the floor or drying their tears!! What a historic moment, we will talk about this for the next 50 years! BTW, you also have a beautiful voice!!!❤👌
It was magnificent, it was beautiful! Grace illuminated the atmosphere of Paris, France. The world saw it and the world needs that!!!!
Yess
The greatest heartburst ever...
My favorite line of this song at the end sounds like a love letter to her fans after she has to step away from the stage because of her health: « Dieu réunit ceux qui s’aiment » God reunited those who love each other. I felt that was pointed straight to all of her fans that are rooting for her.
What a fantastic analysis!!! Truly enjoyed watching your video fully! Thank YOU, Jaron! ♥
I was hoping you would do this one. I was so surprised to see her last night. She had an outstanding performance 🤩
the song written by Piaf was her tribute to the love of her live, french boxer Marcel Cerdan..
I was touched. It was so beautiful👏👏👏👏👏
Crazy vocals Celiné has got 🔥🔥
So...ecstatic to see more Celine on this channel!! As always an AMAZING analysis! Thank you.
Honestly, every time I hear it, I become emotional! Sooo beautiful!
Love your analysis, very good and entertaining. Celine frickin knocked it out of the ballpark!
I was so proud of her!!! especially what she went through...and what our country is going through now, it was nice to have this song on the front of all the nations celebrating togetherness.
*Celine's return to the stage was truly a powerful & memorable moment...!!!* ❤ ❤ ❤
Her french was just perfect. Amazing performance!
It should be, since French is Celine Dion's first language!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED CLINE AND SHE MADE ME CRY...🙏🙏🙏 MS. PATTI LABELLE, RECORDED THIS YEARS AGO AND I LOVE HER TO...
This olympic opening would probably gone down as a failure but for a genius of voice saving it. Forget the illness, forget the rain, forget everything, Dion held a billion people with her voice. People weeped, people could not speak, pweople sang, never seen anything like it.
From your point of view a failure, not from many others.
La Riene! 👸🏼❤️
“You’re herrrreeee, there’s nothing I fear” Celine Dion! Now she is one of the legends. I was so happy to hear her sing. 😊
What a fun analysis. Love!
Jaron, you have a beautiful voice too. You got the pipes to do that song. Celine would be proud. Very nice indeed.
Wow your in-depth analysis is ALWAYS spot on! Thank you , I love all of your videos!!
It was incredible!
Truly!
she is truly touched by the divine..... such a moving performance knowing how much she is going through.
what an amazing performance....that stellar voice....and her journey back from her illness is incredible....so happy to see her back, looking beautiful and sounding amazing...what a triumph
Incredible comeback. I cannot imagine the pressure… to be singing to the world after the health and vocal issues she’s been facing
I admire her greatly for the amount of work and courage this whole performance must have taken. Unbelievable.
The way I sobbed through her performance😢 The God of all be glorified!!!
My girl did that🔥. She win gold in vocal the Olympics 🏅
LOVE LOVE LOVE! And LOVE your expert commentary as well.
@@dodlidono it’s just been proven that she is lip syncing to her own live studio performance , it’s a shame but true
@@neilwilliams4420 doesn't prove she was lipsync there.
your energy is amazing, i always feel better watching any of these vids
I loved this. You pointed out my fav part, the little trickle towards the end.
You also have a pretty voice. I’d like to hear you sing.
CELINE DION IS A GIFT FROM GOD
Celine is that girl! Legend
@@leandroesteban7178 WTF is wrong with you?
@@leandroesteban7178 This is an awful comment, go learn what autoimmune disease is and shush.
A thought I had while watching was the absolutely insane view she had of Paris while singing this! It would be an incredible feeling. Yet, she was singing to each person in the audience as well. so cool!
I came to have my feelings about this performance validated, left with a new appreciation for you! You have a great voice as well 😊
Ohmygosh! What an amazing analysis! I don't sing but you made me really interested in the art.
You gave an amazing coaching response, superb!
An other gold medal for you too for this mesmerizing analysis 🎉
Fabulous reaction video! And your voice is phenomenal!
Her performance makes me cry EVERY TIME
I loved and enjoyed your review! Thank you.
Excellent analysis!!!
The knowledge that she could have had a seizure at any point of that performance. Before, in the middle, near or after the end...
My goodness. I have to watch this video before bed every night. It makes so happy.
Hello Jaron.
Miss Dion performance was simply emotional
I cried . No matter what she sang, I even looked for the lyrics, but I had already cried because I felt the passion and overcoming
Tks Jaron, love your videos, i'm From Brasil
I love Celine one the greatest vocalists in the world, but she did not sing live. This was a heavily pitch corrected pre-recorded track from her rehearsal the night before. We all know Celine is a truly spectacular vocalist, but did not sing live that evening. She performed. Just like Whitney's Star Spangled Banner, she was singing into a dead mic on purpose. What we all heard was a pre-recorded studio version.
You gave such a great take on this. Thank you!
Celine could sing any song in any language, and I would love it!! I'm so happy she was chosen and able to perform. It was pure magic.
Thank you for doing this one ❤
Thank you! ❤
Thank you for walking through this performance, I love your appreciation of Celine skills
