When i was about 10 or 11 years old n this movie came out n was played on cable TV which was brand new to our area in '91-92 ish n i begged my parents to let me take some form of martial arts.. They said ok that's good 4u..i started taking traditional South Korean tae Kwon do.. Under a very rare traditional grand Master.. His name was master jun jong lee.. He also trained with Hee il cho n i trained under Coleman Bostick who was a 5th dan himself.. anyway i excelled very quick but could not text for my black belt until i was 18 years old.. rules of the Do-Jang..i went to many tournaments n never took 2nd or 3rd place in sparring. Not to brag.. Forms i wasn't so great but was decent..i soon became a teenager n heroin was introduced to me. Under peer pressure n wanting to be cool with the older kids i was weak n succumbed to it..i became a heroin addict at age 16 back in late '96 n to this day i still battle this addiction.. IDK why I'm telling this story or that anybody gives a shit but whenever i see this movie kickboxer it brings back memories of a different eran time.. I've ruined my life n i am was given every gift from my creator to excel in this way.. I'm actually very sick now n I'm close to my end in this world n i do not know what i will tell my Lord God when i die
Its crazy how small things like this movie can transport us to different eras in our lives. I don’t have a relationship with my father but this movie reminds me so much of him. Coming back from school and my dad was always watching this movie. And he would say “look… watch what he’s about to do” and laugh specifically at this part of the movie… good ol days… I got my good taste in movies from him…
