When the Missionaries first visited me, I thought what a unique group! I had no intention in joining any religion. I had grown up Lutheran with Catholic, Baptist family members. I was curious about the LDS beliefs and not afraid to ask questions. At one point, the Missioaries challenged me to be Baptized on my upcoming birthday. I was so shocked that I laughed at them. I told them there was no way I was planning to join their Church, I was just curious. Months later and a personal miracle that revealed to me that the Church was truly God’s Church, I was baptized, on my birthday!
May I ask what made you believe that it is the true church? I grew up a Mormon in Utah. I thank God I believe I am now saved by grace & grace alone. God opened my eyes to the truth of who He is and what Jesus did for me. There is nothing I can do to make it heaven except have faith in Him! Your testimony troubles me. Please seek the truth about Jesus. Read your Bible. Show me where the Bible is wrong. The Bible completes the story of Christ. I will pray that God will open your eyes to His truth, and not the made up truth of Joseph Smith, who was indeed a false prophet based on the story of his life.

Im glad you was able to be on the show...im a south eastern babtist/pentacostal raised Tennesseean and ive had a very nice experience with the Mormon missionaries elder Cheney and Maughan love you guys if you see this but anyway ive been reading the book of Mormon and have thoroughly enjoyed it im almost done with it almost to 4th nephi... there are differences i have and some things i don't fully understand about the church but i gotta tell ya this book is very babtist haha no offense to my Mormon friends..i had a chance to visit the local lds church where i live with a friend who was raised in it and it was nice very different than the hell fire and brimstone preaching i grew up with..it was peaceful and very reverent and i appreciate that but anyway God bless you pastor jeff and all you unscripted Saints..love from Tennessee 🧡
If you meet the missionaries, even if you are LDS or not, feed them dinner, lunch, or what ever. Be kind to them. They have parents back home who love them and worry about them. A photo and a text to their mom or dad saying they are OK, and healthy and safe, does world's of good back home. Even if you never join the church, you may gain a life long friend

@@ATD1990 I'm sure the church could (and in a way does) provide sufficient means to feed the missionaries but, for the most part, two nineteen or twenty year old missionaries are unlikely to eat particularly well left to their own devices. The missionaries role is to socialize and a great opportunity for them to do that is over a meal. That's my take.

Nothing wrong with feeding them but the church has Soo much money and strongly encourages young adults to go on a mission they could at least pay for their mission and traveler housing food ect and if someone wants to have them over for dinner no big deal ethier but I think it's messed up they can't fork over more money to the missionaries.
I watch this episode quite a bit. Both Hello Saints and Saints Unscripted have been so deep and help me as I am a new LDS convert. I appreciate the respect, the seeking to understand one another. Lots of bridges built through this
I grew up in an area where I was a Latter-day Saint with a lot of Christian friends of a variety of other faiths. We had great discussions, even spirited disagreements, regarding our faith. When the discussions were over, we put differences aside and were great friends with common Christian values. Pastor Jeff reminds me of my good Christian friends. I appreciate them and support them.
My husband and I love the LDS people and community. We are nondenominational Christians and we love discussing our differences in faith and loving on LDS - we too believe in curiosity over barriers. ❤ in love and Truth 🙏🏼
Loved this video. I grew up a Lutheran, went to many different Christian churches and eventually became a Latter-day Saint. I have seen and experienced all of the confusion out there about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from both sides of the isle. We really do need open, honest and calm discussion for others to really understand the Church.
When I have conversations with people of different Christian faiths I feel like its hard to say we disagree on a lot of things, because ultimately our conversation is about Jesus Christ and how we can have a stronger relationship with him.
Happy that Pastor Jeff is checking the Church out. I myself know the Church is true. Hopefully, he will get there, too. But however it goes, we love him.
I saw my first video of Pastor Jeff go to General conference recently and loved his video because I live in New Zealand and have never been to General conference. I loved his remarks footage he was very respectful. It was a thrill for me as an LDS member to see GC behind the scenes. Since then I've watched 3 of his videos. They're pretty cool. I appreciate these conversations so much! In a world where faith in God has become increasingly criticized I am so grateful to feel the spirit as I listen to men of different faiths talk about faith and religion. We all need to know our Savior and that is the point. He loves each one of us no matter what church we go to. “Ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you”
Pastor Jeff is extremely respectful and works hard to invite Christ-centered conversations that acknowledge multiple Christian perspectives. This is the reason why I subscribed to his channel Hello Saints. Pastor Jeff and his channel are 180 degrees different from the many "Mormon-bashing" channels I have come across that are hosted by other pastors.

Awesome stuff! I have a background in Protestant faith and a degree in theology and only recently have been engaging with LDS members this past year. I’m about to be engaged to one now and after a few months on studying the faith and going to church may get baptized LDS soon too. It just makes sense to me and it was all done out of loving, respectful conversations.🙏🏻👍
Congrats. But be sure you are converting for yourself and not a fiancee. Too many I have seen where the last minute convert has shall roots and bails on the faith not long afterwards leaving women and children heart broken. Not accusing you. Just asking if you would convert if you never married a member or saw another member again? Just be honest. That is all. Ponder, mediate, fast and pray this is the path Christ wants you on.

Michael, And I say this most respectfully, please, please, read the history of the LDS church before you think about getting baptized into the church.All loving and kind people are not going to heaven. There are very nice kind, loving atheists. I have atheist friends. We have great conversations. But in the end, who will we be with in heaven? These conversations are great. I agree, but at the end of the day, each goes back into their corner like a boxing arena and nothing is really resolved. Jesus rebuked people. As God, he was total love. As God the Father, He is he good parent who disciplines his children and keeps them on track. Peace!

I think that we need more respectful conversations like this. I love how Jeff doesn’t come across as attacking people who believe differently than him but instead fights criticism with curiosity. I think he is an example of how we should treat everyone inside and outside the church. Christ taught that we should love one another not that we should shake our fists at each other because we have different theological beliefs.
I live in Texas. As a member of the LDS faith, I have heard nothing but hate and bigotry from Evangelicals. In fact, I had an evangelical client that nearly ruined my career when she found out I was LDS when I didn't order alcohol during a client dinner. I have seen his channel and avoided watching it because I was very suspect about it. I assumed it was just another evangelical speaking lies and hate against me, and my people. I am now curious to watch his channel. I have no issue having respectful disagreement with someone, but I am just tired of all the hate. I have suspicion of evangelicals, just from my prior experiences, but I don't hate them.
Good to have healthy skepticism. By their fruits ye shall know them. Protestants harken back to the Puritanical protestants famous for witch hunting. I keep a healthy distance as evangelicals have little love of Christ in them towards any outside their group.
I got hate when I lived in AZ, but I didn't let it bother me. Got beat up in school several times for my faith. But I've also seen our own church members be jerks from time to time. No one's perfect.
@@DannyAGray I get it. I heard horror stories about Utah, it might be a predominant religion picking on the minority religion issue. That said, how many anti-any religion podcasts and UA-cam channels are there from LDS members? How often do you see the LDS wards putting on anti-evangelical classes at church (the local Baptist church here puts on an annual anti-mormom class each year, I attended out of curiosity, it's was pretty terrible). Evangelicals will often say I worship a different Jesus than they do, by the way they treat those that don't believe the same way they do, I tend to agree. That said I do have some evangelical friends, they are decent people, but I don't let them know I am LDS, and won't unless they ask.

I remember a news story (I think it was in New Mexico), where a town was cut off by flood waters. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the town shared their food storage, and helped the town get through the crisis. The news article that covered it stated "we have two groups to thank for getting us through this crisis, the Mormons, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."
I grew up in a protestant church. I am still active in that church because many many of the people in that church are friends and helped to raise me and I helped to raise many of them. I joined this church about 2 years ago. I still struggle with doctrine on both sides. What I do know is that the book of mormon is true... so why am I still prompted to stay active with this other group? I lead the youth group and work with the protestant outreach team. I know many people think I need to "pick a side" but I don't know if those are different sides.

I have been telling Christians for along time when the time comes we will have to unite because persecution is coming to all Christians regardless of denominations. This is great that a pastor is willing to compare differences in a non combative way. It’s easy to do with passion regarding faith, so shout out for these channels🎉
At the end of the day, God is before, after, above and more important than ANY and ALL churches. He is more concerned with ALL people and LOVE for them and between them!
Hey guys, I loved your show, believe it or not, I`m 70 years old and up until many-be six months ago I never heard of the Mormons, but I`m learning I found a movie on how they all got started it was a very cruel time. The way I see it I couldn`t understand why two different religions that believe in the same God are fighting each other when there are more important battles to be fighting, satin, let us get together on that one Please.
I am according to the books a member of the LDS church. I was a convert as and older adult. Prior to joining I was an member of an Evangelical church. I told my missionaries that I would leave the LDS faith if at one point I felt that the LDS scriptures contradicted the scriptures of the Bible. That is where I am at currently. That being said, I love the people who are LDS, they have been nothing but good to me. I respect them tremendously and will always have them in my home. I never referred to myself as a Mormon when I join the church but as a Christian who just so happened worship as a LDS.

Modern revelation has taken the LDS farther and farther from the God of Israel - so many parables come to mind but He loves you always. Check his channel. His latest video was of him attending the Saturday sessions. It was the first video of his I had seen and I immediately subscribed. I went back to his first video and have spent today binge watching every one. Such a breath of fresh air to see such a respectful look at our faith.
Honest feedback, I was unwilling to watch HelloSaints (when youtube pushed it to me) because I get enough 1 on 1 anti-lds aimed at me at work, I don't feel the need to add to it, however I'm grateful ya'll met up cause now I know I can go check out Jeff's channel without having my guard up a bit as you guys talked about. I got the chills when Pastor Jeff mentioned that people of faith around the world are deconstructing their faith right now. I have noticed that so many of us are really questioning our faith and letting go of harmful cultural traditions and striving to focus more on Christ. I love the idea that these kinds of conversations can edify us regardless of whether or not we still disagree on some specific doctrines. I think it's beautiful that these conversations can help us all feel closer to Christ and think of Him more, talk about Him more, and reflect His love more.
What he calls reckless is really, love. Being open to Loving like Christ, allows the Holy Spirit to convict one to step out in faith. It’s intentional.
I probably need to recollect the details from my mission journal, but if memory serves me right, there was at least one lady, I think evangelical, who invited us in one California summer years ago around 2008, gave us water, and I think we taught a short lesson. She was uncommonly kind for someone espoused to another denomination. I’m still thankful for that kindness, she’s probably a better person than I am, I’m hesitant to invite others into my home for that sort of interaction. Let’s face it, religion is a hot topic, it takes immense maturity to chat about differing beliefs without one side or the other getting their feathers ruffled, and I’m not sure I’m as unrufflable as I ought to be. I like to think, and I'm finding out it's pretty much the case that whenever I ask a friend, a co-worker, etc. to tell me about that person you knew who was LDS... That kid in high school, the person down the street, that employee at the bank, that acquaintance from the gym, etc. I am happy to learn that in almost every case the answer is... He was a great guy, he or she set a great example, he was a sharp student and someone I really admired! 😉
Have to say I served a mission in California and the people there were so nice. Only had a few people who were “mean” most were either just polite and uninterested or open to talk.
I love Pastor Jeff’s message that we can know Christ’s disciples by his love for one another, even those he may not agree with. It seems anything true is always surrounded by lots of opposition. Christ was rejected and hung on a cross by his own, so I would assume Christ’s Church today would also be surrounded in opposition, even by other Christian churches. Thieves don’t break into empty houses.

I've been watching Jeff's channel too. He made me homesick when he went to Utah earlier this year. I'm a lifelong member and have been following saints unscripted since 3 Mormons.

I've really enjoyed these videos with Pastor Jeff. I grew up as a protest Christian. When I was looking into the church I definitely had some similar thoughts and feeling as Jeff originally did of automatically dismissing any beliefs that were different. But then like Jeff I started to feel curious because there were a lot of similarities to my beliefs, but also a lot of differences. Little by little I started to learn more and all their "weird" beliefs when explained started to not sound so weird. I still wasn't at the point where I believed it to be true but I started to understand why they would believe it and it didn't sound so extreme. Eventually I learned to recognize the holy ghost more and felt it both at my protestant church and at the Church of Jesus Christ. I prayed a lot, I fasted and then felt clearly impressed to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, so I did. Now that all aside my dad was super against the church. He grew up in the Bible belt, very Baptist and even was really against a lot of different protestant churches. So you can imagine how happy he was. He definitely had the attitude that Jeff talked about of "sit down and I'm going to tell you why you're wrong". I felt very attacked and judged by protestants. Both new ones I was meeting and ones I had grown up with. It really saddens me to see how contentious things can get between protestants and latter-day saints when yes we have many different beliefs but our core beliefs on Jesus Christ being our savior are the same. It really makes me not want to be around protestants much because of my experiences. I wish we would unite more on our common beliefs instead of fighting against each other on the different ones. I can only image God looking at all of us disappointed to see believers fighting amongst each other instead of coming together. I think bridging the gap is excellent and a good example to nonbelievers. I also agree that with so many falling away from both our church and Christianity in general that this is a great time. I think we should be able to disagree and be respectful and still remain friends. I also don't think our intention should be to convert the other person. I think it can be really hard for everyone to feel comfortable and respected because a lot of people get offended and get that fight or flight feeling when we feel attacked, like was mentioned. But this video is a great example that it can be done. Anyway long winded comment but this really hits home for me with my experiences.
I am a former LDS church member, now a protestant. Almost my entire family is still active in the LDS church, and I highly respect their faith. I love the discussions of Saints Unscripted (SU) AND Jeff from Hello Saints (HS). My favorite discussions however are when both HS and SU meet together and discuss similarities and differences. Those discussions are so respectful and considerate. Thank you for that.
What risk is there? My mother was convinced the missionaries tried to hypnotize her. She wasn't particularly excited when I went and joined years later.

Thank you for a respectful conversation, and asking questions is helpful. Debate isn’t, because if a knowledge of God comes through the Holy Ghost,it can’t be debated. We can only try to tell each other about what we have spiritually experienced.
The word "debate" stands out to me. There really is nothing to debate, as in attempting to convince via fact and logic. One may "inform" as regards doctrine, but convincing only comes through prayer, the individual connecting to and being informed by the Spirit.God bless.
Growing up in a family where my Grandparents adopted me,; They had an Analogy, where 2 mules could pull more Weight than 1. So as we approach the Last Days, We can serve Our Lord n Savior Better when we hash our differences and come to a Knowledge on What we agree on, we become stronger, Passive to offset the Works of the Devil. First question should have been can you admit that lds people are Christian. We as LDS can freely admit that many evangelical people will be in heaven can you say the same?

Loved this! My husband and I have many friends from other faiths including several pastors. One memorable activity we participated in was an open question and answer between our two faiths. My husband was asked to be on the panel by and with our pastor friend. Anyone in the group could submit a question by writing it down. Each question would be answered by whomever it was directed to, or both if applicable. The intent was a loving, open, and honest discussion about beliefs where people could feel comfortable asking any questions they may have. This was such a spirit filled evening that I will always remember! I believe all involved were uplifted and spiritually fed. In fact, as we approached and exceeded the preset time, the pastor was starting to wrap it up, but the group wanted to continue. I think we went a whole hour longer. Not only did we have a fabulous discussion, get questions answered, and feel a powerful manifestation of the spirit, the bonds of friendship were strengthened. Thank you to those of both channels for fostering the type of loving and welcoming atmosphere that you do. I am already a subscriber to both.
Jeff, In your search for understanding Latter-Day Saints, I would invite you to listen to the Podcast “Unshaken” by brother halverson. It is in podcasts like this, seminary lessons, institute classes, BYU religion classes, education week classes, etc that doctrine is taught in a way that is more typical of Protestant churches. These are the places where professionals discuss doctrine through scripture in depth, and you can really see what draws LDS people to Christ through the church. The Easter week podcast is exceptional. I would invite you to take the time to listen. Thanks for your insights and open mind. You are loved.
I’ve made a similar comment before…I think Jared Halverson is so knowledgeable and such a great bridge builder like Pastor Jeff!! I haven’t missed an episode of Unshaken since I discovered his channel! 🤩
I used to listen to Padtor Jeff, Hello Saint quite regularly. But then I felt that he was covertly planting seeds of doubt in Later-day-saints. I dont mind hearing how our theology differs, i dont mind hearing the doctrinal disagreements with our apostles. But then I had to ask myself WHY was I willing to spend time with a pastor who may be using subtlety to undermine my faith. I find Saints Unscripted and Come Back, much more interesting because often they highlight those who have doubted and have returned even stronger. I love the come back stories I also listened to an ex-evangelical who is calling out Pastor Jeff for building an off ramp for those LDS who are struggling. Pastor Jeff has come to Utah with the intention of building a congregation of exiting LDS. He is very kind and gentle and very persuasive in presenting his perspectives. I think he has been very successful in reeling in those Later day saints who are wobbly in their faith.

It was often confusing for people to recognize the difference between the name of the church and nicknames for the members (even among members of the church). I was never comfortable with the church itself being called "The Mormon Church" but I thought it was fine to call members of the church "Mormons". It's a good reason for our recent counsel to use the official name of the church (as well as helping people understand that we are Christians).
Pastor Jeff, I think it is great for Christians to speak with LDS missionaries. I love to talk with them & have invited them for meals several times. That said, I would not suggest that a born-again Christian speak with the missionaries who has not studied up on Mormonism & the doctrine/terminology or they will walk away thinking there is not much different between them & LDS. This is because there are terminology differences. We use the same words, but they have different meanings. I would suggest you have a class at your church for those interested and share the differences in terminology & theology before they meet with the missionaries.
Pastor Jeff hit the nail on the head. An active member of the LDS faith and we as Christians regardless of our denomination ar weird. The very belief in a Savior is odd if you really think about it.
The most important thing for ALL is to realize we Latter Day Saints are not Christian...let me explain... We ARE Christian, in the sense that we believe in and follow our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ - but we are NOT Christian as far as the mainstream definition goes...we do not come from the Catholic Church or out of Protestantism. We are a RESTORATION of an ancient, Abrahamic faith. THIS is what mainstream Christians do not understand. We are not a new Church, we are THE Restored Church of Jesus Christ. Our beliefs are ancient. Our God is the God of Abraham. I would say we more fully embrace the Bible than Christians who only HAVE the Bible. The Bible is saturated with the true gospel, which involves a God who makes covenants with His people. We are covenant Israel, the House of Israel. In the end, there will be no Jew or Gentile...but SAINTS of the Most High God. "The first shall be last and the last shall be first." The book of Ruth is a type and shadow for our day. Boaz, a Jew (Christ) marries Ruth, a Gentile (the Church/the Bride of Christ), and in this covenantal union, automatically lifts Ruth's mother-in-law and the kindred of Boaz, Naomi (Jews), and all the kindred dead as well. Jesus is coming for His Bride (the Church), and will also be coming for His covenant people, the Jews. We know this, because it's all in the Bible. Jesus will stand on the Mount of Olives (after coming for His Bride) and the mountain will cleave in two, and the Jews will ask about the marks in His hands, and Jesus will say, "These are the wounds with which I was wounded in the House of my friends." And THEN...they will finally realize that they killed their Messiah...that Jesus is, and always was, the MESSIAH!! They will repent and renew their covenants with Him. In the end....all who enter into a covenantal relationship - a marriage - to Jesus Christ...are called SAINTS. So, when other Christians say we are not Christian...it really doesn't bother me. Fact is, we are NOT like the rest of Christianity, and we are not supposed to be. We are set apart. Our role is to gather Israel, to bring the FAMILY back together. Our divine purpose as Latter Day Saints is to be as Ruth, who, through marriage to Boaz (Christ) lifted up Naomi (the Jews). From what I can tell, mainstream Christians are only looking forward to Christ. As Latter Day Saints, we are BOTH looking forward to Christ's Second Coming, but are also reaching BACK, remembering the Jews and our kindred dead, and gathering Israel.
Actually, LDS are restoration of what Martin Luther broke. Do read the book The Truth about Martin Luther and you will see exactly what Luther, un anointed by God, altered. The bible books discarded, rejected priesthood authority, faith alone saves, ordinances are stupid, once saved always saved doctrine. LDS have more in common with Catholics and Orthodox than Protestants because they are the outliers. Jesus had to restore his teachings to one the opposite of educated, arrogant, self appointed Luther- Joseph Smith. This was so faith affirming to me.
One of the things I find funny is that some Christians think they will convince me that their faith is more correct than mine by ridiculing my beliefs. Whether you have a religion or not according to my beliefs you are saved by Jesus Christ and exalted according to the life you lead. You don't have to say or do anything for Christ's atonement. So when someone tells me my religion is a cult and I'm going to hell I have to smile and tell them I love them as a child of God. I know we will see each other again after this life. So I don't have to win a debate, just love you all.
Wow! So glad you did this show with him! I feel the EXACT same way that we all need to unite as Christians! People that are falling away from Christ news this unity! We all need to have discussions like this. Or no discussions just unity and love as followers of Christ. Maybe more churches will reach out to an LDS gal like me and include me as a Christian?? That would be wonderful!
God is the spirit we emulate in order to thrive. In this complicated world with opposition it becomes an undertaking that takes a lot of study, learning, and struggle.
Surely, Christianity in all perspectives can understand that despite variations in sect and denomination, coming together in the principle of what Jesus Christ (with every name He is and every praise be given) has taught, as all are accountable, but to each according to their knowledge, faith and desire. Disagree doesn't mean enemy.

Pastor Jeff, that familiarity you speak of among the Saints is how Isaiah described what would happen as people read the writings of the prophets in The Book of Mormon. (Isaiah 29:4) My own ancestors were Lutheran ministers in Denmark who read The Book of Mormon in the 1840s and said it’s here it’s finally here… God has spoken to his people again! They recognized that same familiar spirit and came to join the Saints in Zion. The marvelous work and wonder (Isaiah 29:14) we believe is a fulfillment of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ ❤

What I find as a member, being born and raised Roman Catholic, becoming Born Again Christian from 21 to 27, and a member of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints for over 32 years plus, recently released as a Bishop over 3 weeks ago:-), is that as members we must practice discipleship by loving people where they are at! When the Missionaries first visited me, I thought what a unique group! I had no intention in joining any religion. I had grown up Lutheran with Catholic, Baptist family members. I was curious about the LDS beliefs and not afraid to ask questions. At one point, the Missioaries challenged me to be Baptized on my upcoming birthday. I was so shocked that I laughed at them. I told them there was no way I was planning to join their Church, I was just curious. Months later and a personal miracle that revealed to me that the Church was truly God’s Church, I was baptized, on my birthday!

May I ask what made you believe that it is the true church? I grew up a Mormon in Utah. I thank God I believe I am now saved by grace & grace alone. God opened my eyes to the truth of who He is and what Jesus did for me. There is nothing I can do to make it heaven except have faith in Him! Your testimony troubles me. Please seek the truth about Jesus. Read your Bible. Show me where the Bible is wrong. The Bible completes the story of Christ. I will pray that God will open your eyes to His truth, and not the made up truth of Joseph Smith, who was indeed a false prophet based on the story of his life.

Im glad you was able to be on the show...im a south eastern babtist/pentacostal raised Tennesseean and ive had a very nice experience with the Mormon missionaries elder Cheney and Maughan love you guys if you see this but anyway ive been reading the book of Mormon and have thoroughly enjoyed it im almost done with it almost to 4th nephi... there are differences i have and some things i don't fully understand about the church but i gotta tell ya this book is very babtist haha no offense to my Mormon friends..i had a chance to visit the local lds church where i live with a friend who was raised in it and it was nice very different than the hell fire and brimstone preaching i grew up with..it was peaceful and very reverent and i appreciate that but anyway God bless you pastor jeff and all you unscripted Saints..love from Tennessee 🧡

If you meet the missionaries, even if you are LDS or not, feed them dinner, lunch, or what ever. Be kind to them. They have parents back home who love them and worry about them. A photo and a text to their mom or dad saying they are OK, and healthy and safe, does world's of good back home. Even if you never join the church, you may gain a life long friend

@@ATD1990 I'm sure the church could (and in a way does) provide sufficient means to feed the missionaries but, for the most part, two nineteen or twenty year old missionaries are unlikely to eat particularly well left to their own devices. The missionaries role is to socialize and a great opportunity for them to do that is over a meal. That's my take.

Nothing wrong with feeding them but the church has Soo much money and strongly encourages young adults to go on a mission they could at least pay for their mission and traveler housing food ect and if someone wants to have them over for dinner no big deal ethier but I think it's messed up they can't fork over more money to the missionaries.
I watch this episode quite a bit. Both Hello Saints and Saints Unscripted have been so deep and help me as I am a new LDS convert. I appreciate the respect, the seeking to understand one another. Lots of bridges built through this
These two groups give me so much faith in Christianity as a whole.
I grew up in an area where I was a Latter-day Saint with a lot of Christian friends of a variety of other faiths. We had great discussions, even spirited disagreements, regarding our faith. When the discussions were over, we put differences aside and were great friends with common Christian values. Pastor Jeff reminds me of my good Christian friends. I appreciate them and support them.
Latter-day Saints are Christians, too.
My husband and I love the LDS people and community. We are nondenominational Christians and we love discussing our differences in faith and loving on LDS - we too believe in curiosity over barriers. ❤ in love and Truth 🙏🏼

Loved this video. I grew up a Lutheran, went to many different Christian churches and eventually became a Latter-day Saint. I have seen and experienced all of the confusion out there about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from both sides of the isle. We really do need open, honest and calm discussion for others to really understand the Church.
When I have conversations with people of different Christian faiths I feel like its hard to say we disagree on a lot of things, because ultimately our conversation is about Jesus Christ and how we can have a stronger relationship with him.
No real covenants, no real relationship

I saw my first video of Pastor Jeff go to General conference recently and loved his video because I live in New Zealand and have never been to General conference. I appreciate these conversations so much! In a world where faith in God has become increasingly criticized I am so grateful to feel the spirit as I listen to men of different faiths talk about faith and religion. We all need to know our Savior and that is the point. He loves each one of us no matter what church we go to. “Ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you”
I've had really cool conversations with a couple of Muslim friends, too. It is amazing how much we all agree on.
Pastor Jeff is extremely respectful and works hard to invite Christ-centered conversations that acknowledge multiple Christian perspectives. This is the reason why I subscribed to his channel Hello Saints. Pastor Jeff and his channel are 180 degrees different from the many "Mormon-bashing" channels I have come across that are hosted by other pastors.

Awesome stuff! I have a background in Protestant faith and a degree in theology and only recently have been engaging with LDS members this past year. I’m about to be engaged to one now and after a few months on studying the faith and going to church may get baptized LDS soon too. Congrats. But be sure you are converting for yourself and not a fiancee. Too many I have seen where the last minute convert has shall roots and bails on the faith not long afterwards leaving women and children heart broken. Not accusing you. Just asking if you would convert if you never married a member or saw another member again? Just be honest. That is all. Ponder, mediate, fast and pray this is the path Christ wants you on.

There are very nice kind, loving atheists. I have atheist friends. We have great conversations. But in the end, who will we be with in heaven?
These conversations are great. I agree, but at the end of the day, each goes back into their corner like a boxing arena and nothing is really resolved.
Jesus rebuked people. As God, he was total love. As God the Father, He is he good parent who disciplines his children and keeps them on track.

I think that we need more respectful conversations like this. I love how Jeff doesn’t come across as attacking people who believe differently than him but instead fights criticism with curiosity. I think he is an example of how we should treat everyone inside and outside the church. Christ taught that we should love one another not that we should shake our fists at each other because we have different theological beliefs.

I live in Texas. As a member of the LDS faith, I have heard nothing but hate and bigotry from Evangelicals. In fact, I had an evangelical client that nearly ruined my career when she found out I was LDS when I didn't order alcohol during a client dinner. I have seen his channel and avoided watching it because I was very suspect about it. I assumed it was just another evangelical speaking lies and hate against me, and my people. I am now curious to watch his channel. I have no issue having respectful disagreement with someone, but I am just tired of all the hate. I have suspicion of evangelicals, just from my prior experiences, but I don't hate them.
Good to have healthy skepticism. By their fruits ye shall know them. Protestants harken back to the Puritanical protestants famous for witch hunting. I keep a healthy distance as evangelicals have little love of Christ in them towards any outside their group.

I got hate when I lived in AZ, but I didn't let it bother me. Got beat up in school several times for my faith. But I've also seen our own church members be jerks from time to time. No one's perfect.
@@DannyAGray I get it. I heard horror stories about Utah, it might be a predominant religion picking on the minority religion issue. That said, how many anti-any religion podcasts and UA-cam channels are there from LDS members? How often do you see the LDS wards putting on anti-evangelical classes at church (the local Baptist church here puts on an annual anti-mormom class each year, I attended out of curiosity, it's was pretty terrible). Evangelicals will often say I worship a different Jesus than they do, by the way they treat those that don't believe the same way they do, I tend to agree. That said I do have some evangelical friends, they are decent people, but I don't let them know I am LDS, and won't unless they ask.

I remember a news story (I think it was in New Mexico), where a town was cut off by flood waters. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the town shared their food storage, and helped the town get through the crisis. The news article that covered it stated "we have two groups to thank for getting us through this crisis, the Mormons, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."

I grew up in a protestant church. I am still active in that church because many many of the people in that church are friends and helped to raise me and I helped to raise many of them. I joined this church about 2 years ago. I still struggle with doctrine on both sides. What I do know is that the book of mormon is true... so why am I still prompted to stay active with this other group? I lead the youth group and work with the protestant outreach team. I know many people think I need to "pick a side" but I don't know if those are different sides.

I have been telling Christians for along time when the time comes we will have to unite because persecution is coming to all Christians regardless of denominations. Hey guys, I loved your show, believe it or not, I`m 70 years old and up until many-be six months ago I never heard of the Mormons, but I`m learning I found a movie on how they all got started it was a very cruel time. The way I see it I couldn`t understand why two different religions that believe in the same God are fighting each other when there are more important battles to be fighting, satin, let us get together on that one Please.
I am according to the books a member of the LDS church. I was a convert as and older adult. Prior to joining I was an member of an Evangelical church. I told my missionaries that I would leave the LDS faith if at one point I felt that the LDS scriptures contradicted the scriptures of the Bible. That is where I am at currently. That being said, I love the people who are LDS, they have been nothing but good to me. I respect them tremendously and will always have them in my home. I never referred to myself as a Mormon when I join the church but as a Christian who just so happened worship as a LDS.
🙏🏼💕 praying for you - there’s no condemnation for those in Jesus of the Bible. Modern revelation has taken the LDS farther and farther from the God of Israel - so many parables come to mind but He loves you always. Honest feedback, I was unwilling to watch HelloSaints (when youtube pushed it to me) because I get enough 1 on 1 anti-lds aimed at me at work, I don't feel the need to add to it, however I'm grateful ya'll met up cause now I know I can go check out Jeff's channel without having my guard up a bit as you guys talked about. I got the chills when Pastor Jeff mentioned that people of faith around the world are deconstructing their faith right now. I have noticed that so many of us are really questioning our faith and letting go of harmful cultural traditions and striving to focus more on Christ. I love the idea that these kinds of conversations can edify us regardless of whether or not we still disagree on some specific doctrines. I think it's beautiful that these conversations can help us all feel closer to Christ and think of Him more, talk about Him more, and reflect His love more.
What he calls reckless is really, love. Being open to Loving like Christ, allows the Holy Spirit to convict one to step out in faith. It’s intentional.
I probably need to recollect the details from my mission journal, but if memory serves me right, there was at least one lady, I think evangelical, who invited us in one California summer years ago around 2008, gave us water, and I think we taught a short lesson. She was uncommonly kind for someone espoused to another denomination. I’m still thankful for that kindness, she’s probably a better person than I am, I’m hesitant to invite others into my home for that sort of interaction. Let’s face it, religion is a hot topic, it takes immense maturity to chat about differing beliefs without one side or the other getting their feathers ruffled, and I’m not sure I’m as unrufflable as I ought to be. I like to think, and I'm finding out it's pretty much the case that whenever I ask a friend, a co-worker, etc. to tell me about that person you knew who was LDS... That kid in high school, the person down the street, that employee at the bank, that acquaintance from the gym, etc. I am happy to learn that in almost every case the answer is... He was a great guy, he or she set a great example, he was a sharp student and someone I really admired! 😉

I love Pastor Jeff’s message that we can know Christ’s disciples by his love for one another, even those he may not agree with.
It seems anything true is always surrounded by lots of opposition. Christ was rejected and hung on a cross by his own, so I would assume Christ’s Church today would also be surrounded in opposition, even by other Christian churches. Thieves don’t break into empty houses.
I really appreciate the comments and attitudes presented... Pastor Jeff, I respect how dedicated and convicted you are to your faith, but how do you know, really know what you believe? Is it what you'd call a personal revelation or just you logical understanding? I understand you are very well trained and educated, is that what you fall back on, or what. I've really enjoyed these videos with Pastor Jeff. I grew up as a protest Christian. When I was looking into the church I definitely had some similar thoughts and feeling as Jeff originally did of automatically dismissing any beliefs that were different. But then like Jeff I started to feel curious because there were a lot of similarities to my beliefs, but also a lot of differences. Little by little I started to learn more and all their "weird" beliefs when explained started to not sound so weird. I still wasn't at the point where I believed it to be true but I started to understand why they would believe it and it didn't sound so extreme.
Eventually I learned to recognize the holy ghost more and felt it both at my protestant church and at the Church of Jesus Christ. I prayed a lot, I fasted and then felt clearly impressed to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, so I did.
Now that all aside my dad was super against the church. He grew up in the Bible belt, very Baptist and even was really against a lot of different protestant churches. So you can imagine how happy he was. He definitely had the attitude that Jeff talked about of "sit down and I'm going to tell you why you're wrong". I felt very attacked and judged by protestants. Both new ones I was meeting and ones I had grown up with. It really saddens me to see how contentious things can get between protestants and latter-day saints when yes we have many different beliefs but our core beliefs on Jesus Christ being our savior are the same. It really makes me not want to be around protestants much because of my experiences. I wish we would unite more on our common beliefs instead of fighting against each other on the different ones. I can only image God looking at all of us disappointed to see believers fighting amongst each other instead of coming together. I think bridging the gap is excellent and a good example to nonbelievers. I also agree that with so many falling away from both our church and Christianity in general that this is a great time. I think we should be able to disagree and be respectful and still remain friends. I also don't think our intention should be to convert the other person.
I think it can be really hard for everyone to feel comfortable and respected because a lot of people get offended and get that fight or flight feeling when we feel attacked, like was mentioned. But this video is a great example that it can be done.
Anyway long winded comment but this really hits home for me with my experiences.

I am a former LDS church member, now a protestant. Almost my entire family is still active in the LDS church, and I highly respect their faith. I love the discussions of Saints Unscripted (SU) AND Jeff from Hello Saints (HS). My favorite discussions however are when both HS and SU meet together and discuss similarities and differences. Those discussions are so respectful and considerate. Thank you for that.

Thank you for a respectful conversation, and asking questions is helpful. Debate isn’t, because if a knowledge of God comes through the Holy Ghost,it can’t be debated. We can only try to tell each other about what we have spiritually experienced.
The word "debate" stands out to me. There really is nothing to debate, as in attempting to convince via fact and logic. One may "inform" as regards doctrine, but convincing only comes through prayer, the individual connecting to and being informed by the Spirit.God bless.

Loved this! My husband and I have many friends from other faiths including several pastors. One memorable activity we participated in was an open question and answer between our two faiths. My husband was asked to be on the panel by and with our pastor friend. Anyone in the group could submit a question by writing it down. Each question would be answered by whomever it was directed to, or both if applicable. The intent was a loving, open, and honest discussion about beliefs where people could feel comfortable asking any questions they may have. This was such a spirit filled evening that I will always remember! I believe all involved were uplifted and spiritually fed. In fact, as we approached and exceeded the preset time, the pastor was starting to wrap it up, but the group wanted to continue. I think we went a whole hour longer. Not only did we have a fabulous discussion, get questions answered, and feel a powerful manifestation of the spirit, the bonds of friendship were strengthened. Thank you to those of both channels for fostering the type of loving and welcoming atmosphere that you do. I am already a subscriber to both.

Jeff, In your search for understanding Latter-Day Saints, I would invite you to listen to the Podcast “Unshaken” by brother halverson. It is in podcasts like this, seminary lessons, institute classes, BYU religion classes, education week classes, etc that doctrine is taught in a way that is more typical of Protestant churches. These are the places where professionals discuss doctrine through scripture in depth, and you can really see what draws LDS people to Christ through the church. The Easter week podcast is exceptional. I would invite you to take the time to listen. Thanks for your insights and open mind. You are loved.
I’ve made a similar comment before…I think Jared Halverson is so knowledgeable and such a great bridge builder like Pastor Jeff!! I haven’t missed an episode of Unshaken since I discovered his channel! 🤩
I used to listen to Padtor Jeff, Hello Saint quite regularly. But then I felt that he was covertly planting seeds of doubt in Later-day-saints. I dont mind hearing how our theology differs, i dont mind hearing the doctrinal disagreements with our apostles.
But then I had to ask myself WHY was I willing to spend time with a pastor who may be using subtlety to undermine my faith.
I find Saints Unscripted and Come Back, much more interesting because often they highlight those who have doubted and have returned even stronger. I love the come back stories
I also listened to an ex-evangelical who is calling out Pastor Jeff for building an off ramp for those LDS who are struggling. Pastor Jeff has come to Utah with the intention of building a congregation of exiting LDS.
He is very kind and gentle and very persuasive in presenting his perspectives. I think he has been very successful in reeling in those Later day saints who are wobbly in their faith.
4:55 I've heard of people not realizing different nicknames of our church are all the same church.
It was often confusing for people to recognize the difference between the name of the church and nicknames for the members (even among members of the church). I was never comfortable with the church itself being called "The Mormon Church" but I thought it was fine to call members of the church "Mormons".
It's a good reason for our recent counsel to use the official name of the church (as well as helping people understand that we are Christians).
Pastor Jeff, I think it is great for Christians to speak with LDS missionaries. I love to talk with them & have invited them for meals several times. That said, I would not suggest that a born-again Christian speak with the missionaries who has not studied up on Mormonism & the doctrine/terminology or they will walk away thinking there is not much different between them & LDS. This is because there are terminology differences. We use the same words, but they have different meanings. I would suggest you have a class at your church for those interested and share the differences in terminology & theology before they meet with the missionaries.
Pastor Jeff hit the nail on the head. An active member of the LDS faith and we as Christians regardless of our denomination ar weird. The very belief in a Savior is odd if you really think about it.

The most important thing for ALL is to realize we Latter Day Saints are not Christian...let me explain... We ARE Christian, in the sense that we believe in and follow our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ - but we are NOT Christian as far as the mainstream definition goes...we do not come from the Catholic Church or out of Protestantism. We are a RESTORATION of an ancient, Abrahamic faith. THIS is what mainstream Christians do not understand. We are not a new Church, we are THE Restored Church of Jesus Christ. Our beliefs are ancient. Our God is the God of Abraham. I would say we more fully embrace the Bible than Christians who only HAVE the Bible. The Bible is saturated with the true gospel, which involves a God who makes covenants with His people. We are covenant Israel, the House of Israel. In the end, there will be no Jew or Gentile...but SAINTS of the Most High God. "The first shall be last and the last shall be first." The book of Ruth is a type and shadow for our day. Boaz, a Jew (Christ) marries Ruth, a Gentile (the Church/the Bride of Christ), and in this covenantal union, automatically lifts Ruth's mother-in-law and the kindred of Boaz, Naomi (Jews), and all the kindred dead as well. Jesus is coming for His Bride (the Church), and will also be coming for His covenant people, the Jews. We know this, because it's all in the Bible. Jesus will stand on the Mount of Olives (after coming for His Bride) and the mountain will cleave in two, and the Jews will ask about the marks in His hands, and Jesus will say, "These are the wounds with which I was wounded in the House of my friends." And THEN...they will finally realize that they killed their Messiah...that Jesus is, and always was, the MESSIAH!! They will repent and renew their covenants with Him. In the end....all who enter into a covenantal relationship - a marriage - to Jesus Christ...are called SAINTS. So, when other Christians say we are not Christian...it really doesn't bother me. Fact is, we are NOT like the rest of Christianity, and we are not supposed to be. We are set apart. Our role is to gather Israel, to bring the FAMILY back together. Our divine purpose as Latter Day Saints is to be as Ruth, who, through marriage to Boaz (Christ) lifted up Naomi (the Jews). From what I can tell, mainstream Christians are only looking forward to Christ. As Latter Day Saints, we are BOTH looking forward to Christ's Second Coming, but are also reaching BACK, remembering the Jews and our kindred dead, and gathering Israel.
Actually, LDS are restoration of what Martin Luther broke. Do read the book The Truth about Martin Luther and you will see exactly what Luther, un anointed by God, altered. The bible books discarded, rejected priesthood authority, faith alone saves, ordinances are stupid, once saved always saved doctrine. LDS have more in common with Catholics and Orthodox than Protestants because they are the outliers. Jesus had to restore his teachings to one the opposite of educated, arrogant, self appointed Luther- Joseph Smith. This was so faith affirming to me.

One of the things I find funny is that some Christians think they will convince me that their faith is more correct than mine by ridiculing my beliefs. Whether you have a religion or not according to my beliefs you are saved by Jesus Christ and exalted according to the life you lead. You don't have to say or do anything for Christ's atonement. So when someone tells me my religion is a cult and I'm going to hell I have to smile and tell them I love them as a child of God. I know we will see each other again after this life. So I don't have to win a debate, just love you all.

Wow! So glad you did this show with him! I feel the EXACT same way that we all need to unite as Christians! People that are falling away from Christ news this unity! We all need to have discussions like this. Or no discussions just unity and love as followers of Christ. Maybe more churches will reach out to an LDS gal like me and include me as a Christian?? That would be wonderful!

God is the spirit we emulate in order to thrive. In this complicated world with opposition it becomes an undertaking that takes a lot of study, learning, and struggle.
Surely, Christianity in all perspectives can understand that despite variations in sect and denomination, coming together in the principle of what Jesus Christ (with every name He is and every praise be given) has taught, as all are accountable, but to each according to their knowledge, faith and desire.
Disagree doesn't mean enemy.

Pastor Jeff, that familiarity you speak of among the Saints is how Isaiah described what would happen as people read the writings of the prophets in The Book of Mormon. (Isaiah 29:4)
My own ancestors were Lutheran ministers in Denmark who read The Book of Mormon in the 1840s and said it’s here it’s finally here… God has spoken to his people again! They recognized that same familiar spirit and came to join the Saints in Zion. The marvelous work and wonder (Isaiah 29:14) we believe is a fulfillment of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ ❤

What I find as a member, being born and raised Roman Catholic, becoming Born Again Christian from 21 to 27, and a member of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints for over 32 years plus, recently released as a Bishop over 3 weeks ago:-), is that as members we must practice discipleship by loving people where they are at!
Continue to love them whether they are in or out of the Church, but lovely teach correct principles and let them govern themselves💯❤️🙏🏽
Our duty is to BUILD UP God’s kingdom and BE ALL IN 💯‼️🥰💪❤️🙏🏽👍 - How live in compliance with God’s commandments, BE faithful and endure to the end the Sacred Temple Covenants we have made; seek and pray for continual humility and wisdom from God, repenting daily as we seek inspiration and revelation to LOVE, SHARE and INVITE ALL to Come Unto Christ with MUCH love having a perfect brightness of HOPE and a Love of God and ALL men (2 Nephi 31:20). As we do so, like Nephi of Old the Holy Ghost will show us what to do, but the scriptures will tell us what to do❤️🙏🏽‼️
There are NO Coincidences in the work of the Lord, the stone cut without hands is moving forward with glory and majesty and it CANNOT BE STOPPED as WE understand to put on the whole armor of God, and TRUST the Lord (Proverbs 3:5,6).
