*Construction seemed sturdier than other units I considered **MyBest.Tools** Noise level was reasonable. Good pressure and cfm capacity for a small reasonably light compressor.*
Ok kold winter night up here in the mountains. Snow softly falling while I finish my cheese sandwich and sip My cocoa listening to your video. And I just fell asleep. Thanks for telling me my bedtime story. I'm 80 yrs old. Dandahermit😅😅
I have the Viair one compressor with a 2.5 gal tank.... I have saved several people having my onboard air compressor....its really nice
Awesome, Ive been gathering supplies to make my own air system using the a/c compressor on my trail rig. Your new air compressor gives you a darn good reason to install train horns!
MossyOak83 and h
You have the best videos on youtube and have inspired many of my projects. Keep up the good work!
Man I love your videos. You did an awesome job with the fabrication and such making it a nice clean self contained unit.
Awesome video again, you gave me the idea to do this as a all in one unit and make it fit in a pelican case. Glorious!!!!
EVEN SEVEN YEARS LATER, I STILL LOVE THE PRE-ASSEMBLY!! 🤣🤣
You should be able to wire your gauge light to the switch beside it. Just ground one wire, and connect the other to the switch. Depending on which switch terminal you connect it to, it will be on with the key, or only when you have the safety switch on, your choice. Never mind, you already figured that out. This is what I get for commenting before the end of the video
Nice air mod Matt!😎👊💙
Excellent, how to video. Keep up the awesome videos
what did the system cost in the box before installing it on the ride......? n any up or down sides yet to the system so far going threw winter n summer n etc,......
Very cool set up.
If running front and rear air lockers how would one set up the plumbing for that? I think ARB lockers need 90psi.
Could you just run a pressure regulator from the extra port you have plugged on the manifold for both ARB lockers and their solenoids?
Would that be strong enough to run those tools properly? What is the flow rate of this unit? How many cfm @ 90 psi.
how well does it run the impact im looking for a on board air system that can support a 1/2in impact
Good job. Good choose are good compressors. Dan
right when i saw the title i thought it was for an air suspension till i clicked on it lol
i luv the setup it gave me an idea for a work truck!
I am way late, but I just got to the insulating the relay bit and I wonder if you could use spark plug boot or distributor cap boots slid over the wire to cover the nut terminals, maybe a little trimming and finagling, but if I've learned anything from you guys' videos, it's that you're all pretty good at that haha
The intro was total fire
great work
Another way to have air is to plumb your compressor to your bumper and use them like a tank that way you could hide your pump behind the spare tire in the quarter panel and gain storage space in your cargo area
great installation job. it looks really good. i stumbled upon your channel while surfing for cherokee vids after purchasing my second xj.and had to subscribe. love your creativity and humor. I am curious about that unit. the rated cfm for your 380C compressor setup from Viair is only 1.84@90 psi. each. Twin mounted units, providing 3.64 cfm @ 90 psi, Most air tools for automotive repair will require a minimum of 5 to 6 cfm to operate adequately. Have you had an opportunity to use your 1/2" impact gun with this setup in the field?
okay that intro was goddamn hilarious lol I had to pause the video to write this haha
REDNECKclarkE lol, thanks
i wonder if an angled spark plug boot would of fitted over your positive connection that you were talking about at 26:26
Great video brooooooo!!!!!
Will the power cables reach my battery on a long bed Ram 2500?
I enjoy for the nice review
please show full installation of the airsys with airbag
I can't stop laughing because of the beginning
how much did this nifty little kit run you?
Ever used liquid electric tape? Pretty neat stuff
Have you checked how long it takes to air up tyres from around 18psi to 32psi using this set up?
Do you recommend this over the ARB TWIN AIR COMPRESSOR? I am looking to put an air compressor in my JEEP JK. But am torn on which one to get.
I run the arb twin pumper never let me down has better flow rates then any other kit ive seen and uses less amperage
I tend to go overboard with the teflon tape myself. I was wondering when you only put 3 wraps on those fittings if it would seal tight.
I'm just now re-watching this. Considering the ground location and longevity.... (depending on where you live) amperage will travel through the body. If you live in a rust belt type area that can cause bodily corrosion in that path way given how many amps those things draw. I learned this from a guy that grounded a hydrogen generator in that manner, although the generator was basically on almost the entire time the car was on. I don't know how much of a problem it would be 15-20 years down the road. But if you live where they salt the highways I would just run a dedicated wire straight from the battery. XJ rarity increases every year and you don't want to be fixing body rust that's been accumulating for over 10 years beyond your awareness.
Is this the high speed or high pressure one?
how to finding a vacuum leak my crusie control is not working and heating 👍
Nice vid
Instead of using the white Teflon tape you could use the yellow which is a little thicker & doesn't tear as easily & seals better.
Amazing. I'm so mad this is 6 yrs old. Do you know if theres anything better out now?
For the power to the switch. You said we could go to the "ignition hot" if we wanted it to NOT run When the key is off. I was thinking fuse panel with a Relay if it was a high amp switch. But it comes with a ring termnal. I heard you say "ignition hot" when hooking up switches too. What do you think is the best spot to hook up a ignition power wire?
I usually go to the fuse panel.
Trail mater said those are junk, apparently he's had a couple, they don't hold up, what do you think? I prefer ARB.
Did any of your threaded connections leak air? Just wondered if anybody else has as much trouble as I seem to have getting hose & fitting connections air tight.
no, never had that problem but I did test them with soap and water.
So turns out that VIAIR "forgot" to list the price on any of the products their web site offers. Would you mind informing us how much that particular model costs?
Yeah it's just ya know pocket change it's just coming In around 6 hundo lol I'm obviously joking about the pocket change part but from what I can tell is that this is one of the baddest onboard air systems
I wish I had one, and now I wish I had my jeep.. but the guy that got it, loves the crap out of it! So thats good, I guess. ha ha
Hey Matt, Just stumbled across your videos two days ago, they're awesome! Subscribed and will be watching more. What was that noise off camera in the end of the video? Wife takin' pics because she thinks your hot?
is there a bigger version
Mat.... i love your jeep!!!! it is a sexy beast!!!! can we shoot message back and forth about ideas on a tj??
I feed my air ,amp, and power inverter with 3 runs of 0g. With a limitless lithium battery . these air units under load fill , do you know how many amps is drawn ?
I have dual 485c's (largest compressors viair makes) and each draw almost 40amps while running, but I haven't found anything I can't do with it. Both are 100% duty rated @90psi. 3.81cfm each.
🔥🔥 I have 4 VIAIR air compressors and a 2 1/2 gallon tank. I’m looking for the best hose that does not leak air pressure when I’m running 200 psi. Also, I would like to know how accurate are the digital air pressure gauges with a pressure sensor that you screw into your air tank with a digital gauge in the vehicle to monitor the air pressure. I would love to know how accurate those gauges really are. I would really like to know what’s the best air pressure fittings as far as the fittings and the airlines to use to reduce air pressure leaks. I have pumped my system up to 250 psi. None of the hoses blew off but there’s small leaks that I am having a hard time finding. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
can you advise me. i have a 2015 nissan juke nismo rs and wanting to bag it and no one seems to want to help with a bag kit
I'd change the car if nobody does aftermarket.
I know Audi, Porsche VW all use the same system and it can be swapped one to another if you wanted to change it out.
Maybe think of an older Cayenne
I know this is an old video but how did you get the oversize spare to fit? Please answer
I have a video on it. Google bleepinjeep spare
perfect well priced
Hey Matt ! wouldn't you have been better to install it un-switched (ignition switch) since it is mostly for tools & inflation purpose when the jeep doesn't need to be running and you're out of the vehicle. And also for your purpose of taking it out sometimes It might have been better to use a quick disconnect for the power/ground cables no ?
But I love the video and your set up.
bleepinjeep I meant that you don't have to have the ignition switch on to power your compressor just it's own switch to turn it on. The same way that I have my winch set up on my Jeep. I can use it with the ignition on or off this way it can be use for pulling something without having everything else on that comes with the ignition being on depending on your vehicle... It's perfectly safe since it is fused and has it's own on/off switch but hooked straight to the battery.
I used my ac compressor for my oba. Got about 60 bucks in mine and was super easy to do. You got to give up you ac. But mine didn't work that great anyway.
I thought initially it was going to power an air -ride system. However, hearing what you actually plan on using it for, I would be very surprised if that unit will power air tools with enough air continuously to make them run properly. Maybe with the twin compressors but I still doubt it. It would be fine for airing up your tires, basketball, football, beach ball, raft, etc and maybe run an air horn or two but air tools...I'm guessing no.
Now that the video is a couple of years old I'd love to see a follow up comment as to how well it works (whether it works) with air tools as was the plan for it.
Soulrider2012 I think it'll work well, because of the 2 1/2 gallon tank. I just bought the 480 c with 2 1/2 gallon tank. I'll let you know how it works.
flex93312 well.....???
i think itll do fine.. youll obviously be waiting fo rit to catch up but youre not running a tire shop so if you have to spend an extra few minutes waiting for the compressor when you need to swap tires or take one off for trail repairs not a big deal.. idk what the refill time is but id guess less than 2 minutes to go from 50psi to 120psi
a die grinder with this would be pretty unbearable but in the woods in a pinch itll do the trick, the tank size is really the limiting factor not the pumps you could add a tank if you had room
after watching the rest of the video it was 96 seconds from 0 psi to full psi and i would think you could get 5 lugs off or on with one tank assuming you studs arent a rusty mashed mess
Stupid question, but if you're gonna do a self contained removable unit, why not just get a cheapy one from the local tractor store? Something like this is meant to be shoved up in some nook on your vehicle somewhere and just always be there when you need it, especially since like you said its just for air tool and tires etc..
A ground to the foot of the compressor would work too..
Do you know the price?
Looks good but my "vehicular wiring ocd" would have kicked in and I'd have re-wired everything instead of coiling it behind it.
wiring ocd is a good thing to have
Do you think it would be cheaper and easier to wire in a converter box and just plug in a compressor from Harbor Freight?
Would be cheaper and easier but will be much slower... Not as much air
BleepinJeep how do i go about wiring a whole bunch of things like i dont think i have enough room on my battery to put all of the positive wires like lights winches etc
Sawyer Helle ua-cam.com/video/aG37G9dBXv8/v-deo.html
I'd tried it on my truck, the hf 2000/4000 inverter with the 8 gal, compressor wouldn't run; now the useless 3 gal pancake is WAY too slow for me and is only good for bike tires, forget any tires for road/off-road use.
Is there a build thread for this jeep..thing is sick
X311xjp yes, there are 83 videos here: ua-cam.com/play/PL1U__4as20wHOiPKzZcCSwgcZOWybKJtm.html
Which viair system is this?
Think this would work for a 49 inch tire.
looks like a bomb
some one has a 10 galon 12 volts compresor
why the vial compressors if you have york on engine?
no york...
Sorry if dumb question, but why is on-board compressor needed? In case you want to run tools to do auto work on the trail/road (mobile auto shop)? Fill tires (as if someone would be on the go/trail with uninflated spares)?
Thanks!
You air down tires on the trail. When you get on the road, you need to air up.
Thanks!!
lockers and winch air free spool
cool

The safety valve should be on the tank it self.
nitros bottle check air compressor check
Nutsack
All my connections are going directly to the battery
As a heads up, the store link is not working. Good channel however!
+Ean Gdaniec try it now, if it's still not working you can always find it here: itsajeepshirt.com/collections/bleepinjeep
BleepinJeep Alright!
Those compressors are air cooled and are prone to run hot so they really don't belong in the engine compartment. Dandahermit
Safety Glasses!
Definitely not big enough to actually use for power tools. Notice how the compressors instantly kicked on from just a burst of use?
How much was that
Dang how do u like the product so far
❤❤❤ you should see my system I’m running 4 compressors just for my air horns of pumped up to 250 psi and nothing came apart but I’m using 170 psi pressure switch so it does not go over 170. I put the system together to wake up the stupidity of the American people on the freeway before they hit my truck they hear my extremely loud airhorns. ❤❤❤ no I did not mount the air compressors under my pick up truck bed. They are in my toolbox out of the weather. ❤❤❤
Sorry, Bro, but this is the wrong tool for your particular job. They sell specific compressors for what you are going to try and use this one for. I understand people trying to get all creative, but when you do the math, this system is counter productive, and most-likely will not even propel the internal piston of an airtool, at a usable speed.
