after all the wildfires in California what can the US forest service do to restore the Mycelium in the forest?

Great question Patricia - the first step is to make sure all the new trees and perennial plants we plant are inoculated with ECM (ectomycorrhizal fungi). From there we can inoculate seasonally in areas that lack mycorrhizal fungi but are already growing.

Many ECM types have mushrooms or puffballs that can be gathered to make a spore slurry in a blender and then reapplied to the forest floor at the feed of the living trees.
