Charlie was the epitome of the old adage, "90% of success is just showing up." And show up he did, indeed. For 57 years. Every show. Every rehearsal. Every studio take. It is a fitting exit that he should leave us before ever seeing someone else upon his throne.
We are all somehow lessened by this man's passing, and have a lot of ground to cover to make it up.
    Rest In Peace, Mr. Watts.
    You have certainly earned it.

In tears. Rock, jazz, class, love oozed from the man's every pore. Every rhythm, every fill, every nuance on his hi-hat, every time he moved a drumstick or kicked the bass drum was dead on perfect according to the song, and that extra little drag or groove he could put on a song is the hallmark of a truly great drummer that no mere technician can ever pull off. I learned tons from him about percussion and being a gentleman. What the Stones have given the world is immeasurable and so is what Charlie gave the Stones. The world is a poorer place for his passing. We not only lost a great musician and human being, The Stones died in a sense today, because despite their many amazing incarnations, without Charlie Watts there is no real Rolling Stones. A truly sad day for anyone who loves music or aspires to higher consciousness. Tears keep flowing. Long live Charlie Watts.

I am a product of the fifties and sixties. I have seen many of the greates come and go. But the Stones in my head would live forever! Short of an accident or major incident The stones would play forever! Charlie kept the beat! Though a bit Jazzy was in his soul he rocked out like no other. You can talk about the great ones! The Beatles-Gone/ Elvis Gone/ Queen while still here Gone without Freddie! It seemed impossible for The Stones to leave this planet. The rest of the Team is still there but the heartbeat is different now.
My take away is Thank You Stones for 50 plus years and may this group rock into eternity! I am heartbroken and sad for the stones, the fans (and selfish me, for me too!) Life goes on but now to a slightly different beat. I toast you Charlie and thank you for all the joy you have brought to me.

Charlie was the 'integrity' side of rock and roll. A music that has helped to shape much of the country, much of the world in questioning things like life, authority on all levels. Charlie was called the 'rock' of the band much like what glue is to surfaces in keeping something together. And that was, and still is, important to this groundbreaking genre of art and those who have thrived on it. Charlie was a human being, but also part of a huge symbol, a symbol that will continue on into future generations no doubt. Whether it be rock, the Stones or Charlie himself, we as a society would benefit by maintaining these stories poetically because in reality? They maintain who we are as we look back at our pasts. Stones forever.

The good news is you have an incredible treasure trove awaiting your exploration and discovery. No one can match the Stones breadth, depth or impact over the past 57 years. They cast a long shadow and left us - and you - with an amazing collection of songs; lots are rockers, but many are exquisite ballads, along with great blues and country tunes as well. Enjoy listening in depth to the 'world's greatest rock n roll band'.

RIP Mr. Watts. I heard that Mick Jagger once called you "just" his drummer. Well sir, you were THE drummer, and the heart and soul of the band. This is coming from a bassist, who couldn't perform as well without the likes of you sir.

I remember it so well. I heard the opening riffs of "Get Off My Cloud" when I was 14 years old and I said "That's my kind of drummer." Charlie was always so non-challan and stone faced at times and he seemed to just be laughing the whole thing off, all the antics of Keith and Mick. It was a joke but he was in on it. Ringo was right there, a great drummer, but Charlie always hit the downbeat. RIP buddy. I hope I meet up with you when I get up there and I get a chance to jam with you. That would be nice.

Charlie Watts was never the most flashy drummer. He wasn't known for the frenzied solos of Cream's Ginger Baker, or for placing explosives in his kick drum like The Who's Keith Moon. Instead, he was the subtle, stoic heartbeat of The Rolling Stones for almost 60 years. We all Brazil fans will miss Charlie. RIP 🇧🇷
