fr fr! I watched it at 8 and for the following years it was my guilty pleasure at night. The Goodnight Show was a great part of my childhood and so was the Sunny Side Up show. Pajanimals was my fav.
Ikr some of my favorite shows were on there I mean I was born 2 years before it even aired and I still have memories if you want to hear my list of my favorite PBS kids sprout shows please like this comment
All pajanimals episodes have been uploaded to UA-cam and was on Netflix at one point. I know because I binged it all as a fan of Jim Henson puppetry and just the character design aesthetic even tho tbh it’s very much for kids and not like say “Arthur.” Where there’s something for adults to get out of it.
I didn’t just grow up with this channel. I RELIGIOUSLY watched this until I was well “grown out” of it. To the point where my day was literally centered around this show, I got up to watch good morning, ate my lunch with the afternoon show, and went to bed when Nina said goodnight. I look back at it now and don’t know why my parents didn’t see the autism.
“dont know why my parents didnt see the autism” is singlehandedly the funniest fucking sentence ive ever read i want to print it out and put it on my wall
The Melanie situation is soo frustrating to me bc does Pbs think that people who work with kids arent allowed to have an adult life outside of it?? Like are parents, teachers, caregivers, ect. not allowed to talk about adult topics in their personal life away from kids?? Its so unfair to Melanie.
True, I agree it was ridiculous to fire her but I LOVED Nina even more. I grew up with both, I actually cried as a kid because I missed Melanie but I loved Nina even more. Also I'm not saying Melanie did anything wrong but at least they took precautions if she did do something wrong (Unlike what Nickelodeon did and let p*dophiles get away with making shows since the 90s). It's better to fire someone for doing something harmless than to let p*dophiles get away with making shows.
Fr, like I promise you, I as a 7 yr old in 2006 wasnt going to find Melanie's 1999 premiere of a pregnancy spoof meant for adults on the internet. It was literally the beginning of youtube and we did not have the same culture as we would now where it is probably easy to find this video. Completely unjustified
I THOUGHT I HALLUCINATED THIS SHIT!! Ive been telling my parents about it for YEARS but NO ONE in my family could recall it! Not even my younger brother who watched it with me at the time (I now realize he was simply too young to remember) I am going to go watch the good night show and sob. It was always so safe and soothing to me you don't understand how much this means to me thank you so much 😭💕
it's the exact opposite for me. I asked my dad about it earlier and he was immediately like "oh, yeah! I remember those shows, great shows!" I guess probably that's bc he'd always wake up early and stay up to watch them with me and was the only one to do so.
I watched sprout RELIGIOUSLY as a child and oh my god does it warm my heart to know people remember it!! It was such a big part of my childhood and all the shows I watched stuck with me. I miss sprout very much. I have a 3 year old nephew who would’ve LOVED sprout and it’s a shame there will never be anything else like it
I have a very vivid memory of watching Sprout late at night and this IRS commercial came one and I was absolutely terrified. I've been scared of the IRS ever since
I used to love watching Sprout with my children. I loved how good natured and practical it was. The Good Night show for example, a show helping children to fall asleep at night. It was sweet. I hated to see it go away like it did.
I loved the 2D style of Kipper and Angelina they used to air on Sprout, it really captured the storybook vibe. And the Sunny Side Up show would have Father's Day notes that you could submit online and they would scroll across the bottom of the screen during the show. Huge nostalgia
unbelievably unfair to fire an actor for something that they previously ACTED in. since when are you allowed to fire someone for what their job USED to be?
Sprout was EVERYTHING for my growing up!! Being a 2000s baby (2004 to be exact), I joined the Sprout club late (2009-2010 i believe) and I didn't know how much had happened or the shows that came before. Seeing this video gave me SOOO much nostalgia and made me wanna go look up sprout and watch it again!! It's unfortunately changed to a new name, but I really hope they continue to run the previous shows they had!! loved the video lula!!!
I was a 2002 baby and I would watch this every not as a kid. I feel like I remember not liking it, but I really liked how there weren’t any advertisements
2004 as well, I remember brining my backyardigan pillow that turned into a sleeping bag to my granny's house and watching Sprout after we got to her house in the middle of the night til teletubbies came on💀💀
I’m glad sprout is still remembered. I used to watch it almost all the time when I was around 8-10. My favorite was the good night show. My brother would always make fun of me because I was “too old” for this channel. But I didn’t care.
My parents always taught me that I was never too old for anything so I watched Sprout, Disney Jr., Nick Jr., etc. until I was in 5th or 6th grade and just grew out of it. :) I basically skipped the live-action show stage like “Liv and Maddie” and “Jessie” because of that but I’m cool with it.
SAME! I was around 11 years old when I officially stopped watching Sprout. I was told many times that I'm too old for this stuff. But as you said, I also didn't care.
Honestly I really regret my jump from Sprout and Nick Jr to Disney Channel. The more Sprout stuff that comes back to me, the more charm I find in it than what I still remember of Disney Channel
It’s like we had the same exact childhood 😅! I watched Sprout when I was 8 in 2008 and the night time shows bring back so much nostalgia 💛. I also got made fun of by my family for being too old to watch them to the point where they would ask me to change the channel when they saw me watching, so I only felt comfortable watching them when I was home alone. It forced me to move on to Nick shows like Big Time Rush and Victorious, which I really liked. I still wish I had the chance to outgrow my kiddy shows naturally on my own time, but I did eventually anyway.
I watched this show primarily during the early 2010s, up until I grew out of it and moved to other channels like Disney Junior. And I gotta say, the switch up from the barn to…that place for the Sunny Side Up Show is a MASSIVE disservice.
@lulaloopsey Thank you for talking about this I love the rubberdubbers and I grew up in the 2009-2014 Era so I know The Wiggly Waffle show to be honest The Wiggles was my favorite show
One of my favorite childhood memories is when my mom submitted me to the Chika show for my birthday :) it blew my mind as a kid and I thought I was a celebrity
I was born in November of 2004, and I remember watching Sprout from pretty early on, like late 2000s to early 2010s The Goodnight Show was probably thr biggest part of it for me, and seeing Nina's sand drawing segment in this video was incredibly nostalgic. I genuinely watched Sprout until I was in 4th or 5th grade. Compared to others, I've always been a little young or "behind" as a person.
I was also born in November 2004, and the sand drawing segment was always my favorite too. I remember some of my favorite nights were when my parents would let me sleep on the couch and I’d watch the Goodnight Show til I fell asleep. I used to dream of living in a treehouse like the one that Nina and Star lived in. Aw man.
Honestly I miss the Sprout channel. My household was very unstable and it was something that helped keep my cool when I was super limited on what I could/could not watch and do. Glad to see others remembering it just as fondly as I do
Great video! I actually have a cool story about Sprout! Back in January 2010 (I would have been 5 1/2 at the time) Sprout hosted the "Sing a Sprout Song Video Contest" where parents would film a video of their kids singing a song from a Sprout show and 5 winners would receive an iPod Nano. My brother (3 1/2 at the time) and I were huge fans of The Wiggles so our mom filmed a video of us singing a Wiggles song. The video aired on Sprout and we were selected as one of the winners. I still have the iPod today! There is an engraving on the back that says "Keep on singing! Your friends at Sprout." My mom still has our video that won and I have 6 hours worth of videos that my brother and I filmed on the iPod growing up. I may make a video about it because it's such a cool and crazy story. Again, great video! This one definitely brought back some old memories.
Tysm for talking about Sprout! I watched that channel a lot in my childhood along with Disney Junior and Nick Jr./Noggin! This makes me incredibly happy (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)☆ Also I love how ur makeup is the same color as the logo
I feel so old. I still remember when it was still officially called PBS Kids Sprout and Melanie was the host of the Good Night Show. I was 4 when Sprout first launched and I remember the exact day it became available on my family’s cable provider. I would watch Noggin until they went off at 6pm, and then go straight to Sprout until it was time for bed. Good times.
Melanie was so cool, I even liked her as an edgy 10 year old. My brother was born in 2007 and I'm pretty sure DirecTV added Sprout right around the time he was born, because that channel was on in our house almost non-stop. Once Noggin went 24 hours though, we jumped ship to that being our main little brother channel. He's 16 and I'm 26 now. Crazy how the time gets away!
Man, OG PBS Kids sprout fans Will remember Melanie, she was my favorite. I can’t believe they fired her, PBS gets overreacted. UA-cam was just coming out that year, kids at the time had no idea how to use the Internet.
TYSM FOR THIS VIDEO!!! as someone who grew up with sprout, it’s nice seeing someone talk about it since i don’t find much content relating to it. a lot of these shows (including the rubberdubbers!) are really nostalgic for me.
Pajanimals was such a beautiful show. I'm too old and my kids are too young to have seen it when it first came out, but all the episodes were on UA-cam in the 2010s, so we watched it there before bed every night. Wife and I still sometimes yell, "Bathtime BOOOOOGIIIIIEEEEEE!" without provocation.
I had my first kid at the height of Sprout, and loved the Sunny Side Up show with Chica. The way kids could send in letters and give online shout-outs to provide some sort of personal interaction was the coolest thing, and reminded me of a lot of my old shows growing up.
The disappearance of PBS Sprout hits HARD for me:( When I was in Elementary School, I would always start the day before going by catching an episode of Thomas & Friends while having breakfast. It helped me get ready for the day regardless of how things turned out. It was also a big help of me becoming a Thomas fan. Whenever I didn’t feel like watching the show on VHS or DVD, I just waited until the right time whenever it came on and enjoyed it. Once the show was removed and I got out of elementary, I officially left The TV channel way before it rebranded and stopped caring. I retained and cherish those memories of watching an episode of Thomas on there. It’s simple things like that can show how strong sudden changes can affect people:(
That’s how I got into the show too. I would always watch it before school, and at night when it would come on. I just got back into it, and the fandom, this year, after having a really hard time, and I’m just super grateful that I found it back then, and that my interest is reignited now.
I grew up with Sprout I LOVED the Good Night Show, Nina’s World, Noodle and Doodle, The Sunny Side Up Show (which was done dirty btw WHY GET RID OF THE FUN BARN? ☹️), Pajaminals, Poppy Cat and of course Seasme Street I had the biggest Elmo phase when I was little lol! I loved Sprout so much it was such a fun channel and The Good Night Show especially was super calming :D 🌈🦄💖
I swear as an 04’ baby the 2000s was something. Growing up, the Spiderman trilogy and The Dark Knight were everywhere, handhelds like the PSP and Ds were in their prime and Wendy’s had the yellow logo. I was watching Sprout, Noggin and Boomerang. Thanks for unlocking the nostalgia. 😅
I remember 8 year old me crying in 2017 because they took sprout off my grandma's TV. DEVASTATING TIMES. I immediately went to the website after my Grandma couldn't find it, playing all the games. Sara and Duck with forever live in my heart.
I used to watch Sprout all the time during the evenings. Was actually pretty heartbroken when they got rid of the PBS and acquired shows and eventually changed to Universal Kids. Besides the occasional Sprout Original Series rerun, it’s barely recognizable anymore.
I absolutely agree with you I grew up with a lot of shows on that channel and was kinda heartbroken too when I found out it wasn't around anymore and was replaced with Universal kids no longer airing my childhood favorite shows that were in sprout
If you had Sprout as a kid, that meant you were lucky enough to have cable/dish service. I grew up with PBS in its raw public television glory. That meant I’d get up at 6 in the morning, waiting for “Sit and Be Fit” to be over before “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood” was on, and then you had more PBS Kids shows until around 12 PM, with afternoon shows coming on around 2 or 2:30 PM. Those were the days.
Actually, my family didn't for a really long time, but 3 times a year, I would go to my grandmother's house and THAT is where I watched sprout because she had Dish. Didn't even know it came on anywhere but her house til I moved in 2014, and my younger sister was Watching it.
I’m actually shocked that the parents were mad about Sprout firing Melanie. Usually it’s the other way around: parents wanting to fire someone for doing something inappropriate.
Oh my GOODNESS, this took me all the way back to my childhood, Pajanimals, Chicka Show, Angelina Ballerina, Justin Time, LAZY TOWN. I REMEMBER ALL OF THESE, it was a key part in my childhood, and dont even get me started on the Good Night Show. We need this content for kids in this generation. Great video! 😭
Referring to Alyssa Milano as "some lady" is so crazy to me. I can't believe this is how I learn that the actress from my favorite childhood show had a hand in the death of my other favorite childhood show 😭
The waves of memories this video is giving me is insane, I forgot half of these shows and seeing this brought it all back and I’m so happy I grew up during the early era of sprout
Yall remember Noddy? Kipper the dog, Noddy and the goodnight show specifically during Christmas where star and other characters would just sleep stick out to my memory the most during this whole video.
I grew up with kipper when it was on nick jr. When i was older i would occasionally watch kipper on spout because it was just so wholesome and soothing.
I grew up with Sprout, i LOVED the Good Night Show. I don’t know why but the only reason I stuck around was the sand painting, it was so satisfying. I remember them painting a bicycle. anyways, thanks for bringing this hidden memory back!
You’re not the only gal who forgot about the Rubbadubbers. I actually thought I had hallucinated it at one point, considering it was practically Toy Story with bath toys. I used to get the DVDs of that show at the library all the time as a kid, along with a bunch of other Hit Entertainment shows like Kipper, Angelina Ballerina, Bob the Builder, and especially the Wiggles. I really loved the show because I was obsessed with playing in the bath and playing pretend as a kid.
I still sing that theme song to myself. Stupid Rubbadubbers. Tucked my nieces into bed and would sing it doing laundry. To this day I would not see a single episode but I could hear it down the hall while folding. Seared into my brain! It's fine Rubbadubbers, you can stay.
This was the ONLY channel I watched 😭 I was still in elementary school and my sister and I were completely lost when it disappeared. We had to start watching UA-cam lol. I also remember the two days in between Sprout changing from Sprout to Universal Kids - they randomly called it Sprout House for two whole days, and then switched it to Universal Kids 😭 We were so confused
I loved watching sprout as a kid. Thank you for shedding light on the Melanie situation because I remember her disappearing and being so confused and upset because I missed her. I always wondered what happened but as I was a little kid at the time, I just never knew.
I'm in my late 20s so I definitely was not the target demographic for Spout, but oh my god, the Rubbadubbers!!! I caught a bad flu bug when I was in junior high that kept me home from school for about a month, I stumbled across the Rubbadubbers while channel surfing one day and loved it so much, it just felt so warm and comforting! I think I really needed that return to the safe feeling of early childhood at the time and that was exactly what I got with the Rubbadubbers. I watched it every single day until I had to go back to school - I didn't want to admit to any of my friends that I had this intense emotional attachment to a show made for preschoolers, but I so vividly remember looking at the clock every day at school, knowing the Rubbadubbers was on, and wanting more than anything to be back at home watching 😭 It is such a core memory for me, and yet I always felt like maybe somehow I made that show up or misremembered it because no one I have ever brought that show up with has ever known it existed either! I was so excited to stumble across it again on UA-cam a while back haha
i'm glad i'm not the only person who knew of sprout and wondered about it's random and sudden disappearance. Sprout was my childhooddddd. Chika every morning and Nina every night. Noodle and Doodle, Super Why, The Chika Show... Even my big sister said while i was watching this video "oh you used to love sprout". Thank you for this video, you've done a service to me.
DUDE I remember sprout so fondly. Specifically I mainly remember the goodnight show and the sunny side up show, I just remember them both being so comforting and happy, so its a really nice memory. I think at the time I was watching sprout that I was a bit too old for it, but I still really enjoyed the shows. I also totally forgot about pajanimals and rubbadubbers until now omg.. And literally the other day I was thinking about noodle and doodle and could not remember the name of it or where I watched it, thanks for covering it!!
I used to always watch The Goodnight Show when I would have sleepovers at my grandma's house. She'd put it on for me every night when I went there, and let me tell you, it was SO FUN!!! I can still remember it. The amount of fun stuff they would do during that block of time was awesome, and I especially loved it when Nina would draw with the sand. God, what I would give to be a child again. I miss it so much. The children of this new generation have no idea what they are missing. This channel was, quite literally, my early childhood!
I grew up with Sprout and Pbs kids. I always loved playing the computer games. The rubberdubbers was a long lost memory so thank you for bringing that up! I loved it when I was little. My favorites on the channel were The goodnight show, the Sunny side up show, The Pajanimals and Kipper. But I also remember watching Pingu and The Wiggles a lot. I also really liked Noodle and Doodle...honestly the list goes on. I liked a lot of shows with puppets as a kid, so Sprout was always my go-to. But channels like PBS kids and Playhouse Disney/Disney Jr were also favorites of mine. Awesome video! :)
I didn't really grow up with Sprout mainly because Sprout wasn't a thing in Australia, but I remembered going on the Sprout website a couple of times instead just cause I was bored. It was fun because there were games and stuff I found on that website that I couldn't find on the other kids network websites I often visited during this time like Cbeebies, the Hit Entertainment website and the ABCKids website. Not to mention tons of programs on that channel I also watched on others like Thomas, Sesame Street, Angelina Ballerina, Fifi and The Flowertots and The Wiggles. I usually go back to the website on the Wayback Machine or on other archival websites just for the nostalgia but it's not really the same with the whole Flash purge. Good times...
I watched Sprout RELIGIOUSLY in kindergarten and everytime I bring it up, no one has any idea what I'm talking about. Thank you for making this video, the memories are flooding back.
Duuuude that is cause we had taste. They were watching Paw Patrol and Shimmer and Shine while we were binging the Goodnight Show and the Chica show like chads 😂
I use to grow up with sprouts as a lad and the Shows that stand out to me are the sunny side up show, pajamanimales and Thomas and friends (cuz I’m a Thomas fan, still am though not to barg) and I do remember rubber duppers and doodle noodle too. I do t mid if the show you mentioned are British the UK is so cool. I love this video brings me back memories, keep up the good work!
I loved Sprout when I was a kid. It was my go-to channel at night since sleep didn't come easy to me, meaning I saw the Good Night Show. My fondest memories were the fables, the little lessons, and one of the shows they often played with them- Kipper the Dog. It was just so cozy, and warm. Of course, there were others, but seeing Kipper always lifted my mood and made me more likely to actually get some sleep, haha I also miss the website. I played plenty of the games, but I primarily recall the Caillou dollhouse one and dressing up Chica. I wish I could go back, but the only way to do that is using the wayback thing and hoping it works properly.
@@marklopez7775 dude i haven’t watched it in yearsssss, i don’t remember a lot of the episodes unfortunately😭 i would have to rewatch it and become familiar with the episodes again
as a british person literally everyone around had forgotten rubberdubbers it aired every day when i was younger and i loved it so much 😭😭 finally someone who recognises the underrated masterpiece ‼️‼️
I remember the day I first heard Sprout was going to be changed to Universal Kids. I was super devastated because even as an older child during that time it was really soothing to me and helped lower my obnoxiously high stimulation. Even my parents were like "Why? that is so stupid!" Comcast pissed me off that day, I'm glad their viewership drastically fell off lol.
Fr, if Universal/Comcast wanted to have their version of Nickelodeon and Disney Channel, rebranding and replacing Sprout is NOT the way to do it. That was so unfair
@@ButterFlyGardenBlossom Right. And also, like she said in the video, if they really wanted to rebrand the channel so bad they could’ve just gradually changed things a little bit at a time. Instead, they just dropped all these changes on us at once and expect us to accept it. One of the dumbest decisions a company ever made.
I do remember the rubberdubbers on nick jr way before it was on sprout, although I never saw them on tv. I just played the online games on the nick jr website
I remember watching the heck out of the wiggles at the end of sprouts lifetime at my grandmas house. Still loved trolls and ruffruff tweet and dave after the rebrand tho and ruffruff tweet and dave is still a favorite of mine
I miss watching PBS Sprout. Thank you for making this video. I remember waking up every morning watching my favorite tv shows like Thomas, Sesame Street, and Kipper.
I loved watching Sprout back in the day. It made up for when normal PBS or Noggin would switch to the “grown up shows” since they had so many of the same shows. Honestly the part that was really weird was seeing Sesame Street reruns be from the era just before what was currently on PBS. So basically no Abby’s Fairy School and no Murray skits, but they still had Elmo’s World and old Ernie and Bert skits(yes even the ones that Jim Henson did).
I remember watching Sprout in the early to late 2010s shortly before the rebrand and this video was very nostalgic for me especially when it came to their original shows and blocks. I would still occasionally watch Sprout even when I was 10-11 because I just really liked the atmosphere and vibe of the channel. While it’ll likely never see the days it used to have, I hope that at least we’ll see it come back in really any shape or form
I remember when I was like 7 or 8, I knew I was ‘too old’ for sprout, but me and my brother (1 year younger than me) would watch it together anyways, there was just something truly comforting about it. God, the nostalgia.
I did grow up with sprout! born in 1998, I would watch it with my little sister, but I grew out of it by the rebrand so I actually had no idea it changed or what happened to it.
same. I watched PBS kids when I was part of that demographic but then revisited as a tween with my lil brother w/ Sprouts. Sad to see city life is what killed Chica. I guess thats what NYC does to ya in the name of show biz. lol
Loved the video and it helped answer questions I had about it when I lost access to it before NBC got full ownership. I grew up watching Sprout when it launched and absolutely Loved it! I adored Melanie (and fondly remember some of her segments leaving an impression on me) and was absolutely devastated when she just so happened to get fired on my Birthday and I'm still Not over it today. What made it worse was when Nina arrived and did some of the same crafts, stretches and topics Melanie had, making the times I enjoyed those with her, feel not so special anymore. It left me rejecting Nina for a long time until just a few years ago. Nowadays, I think it would be fun to compare those episodes someday if it's possible. I also remember watching the Rubbadubbers not just on Sprout, but Nick Jr too. Like the rest of the comments, I'm sad it changed to Universal Kids.
As someone who grew up with and loved watching Nina, it’s really interesting hearing from someone who grew up with Melanie. Also, I feel like I’ve missed out on watching Rubbadubbers lol
I grew up watching The Goodnight Show and I couldn’t remember what it was called until recently. so nostalgic, idk if I watched other shows from the network but I vividly remember the goodnight show
I was featured on sprout!! in the sunny side up show, they had a segment where they'd showcase the weather from some of the viewers and I woke up early one day, went on the computer to the sprout website, entered in what the weather was like, and it got featured on the show!! I fondly remember sprout and wish I had the channel around longer. 'twas a sad day when we got rid of the channel 😔
Just found your channel and i’m MIND BLOWN we’re the same age!! I’ve been thinking about doing stuff similar to this for years due to my constant fixations on older children’s media but i’ve always been also somewhat embarrassed of my interest in it. I’m so happy to see someone else appreciating and acknowledging this stuff!!! AND WITH THE SPROUT THEMED MAKEUP?? EATING. ALSO- the rubbadubbers were my shittttt!!! I also got really obsessed with it a few years ago when I convinced myself I made it up😭 I have a few pieces of merch I found on ebay and they’re such silly creatures. We just don’t do it like this anymore:,)
I remember when I was a kid my parents always made me go to bed before the goodnight show started, but I would always catch a glimpse of the beginning, so I just had this burning curiousity about this show I was never allowed to watch. Eventually I managed to stay up late enough to watch it and I don't remember my exact feelings on it but I do remember thinking Sarah & Duck was pretty cool lmao
My grandparents had DirectTV for a time and I was a bit older- but I’d watch Sprout from time to time. I never thought, I could be so nostalgic about something that I barely even watched.
I used to watch Zooboomafoo on Sprout and other shows too. It was my favorite channel as a little kid, but we had to change our channel listing and unfortunately, it didn’t have Sprout. I loved Sprout so much that my mom literally had to sit me down and break the news to me, since the channel played into my daily routine in many ways. Thankfully, I found PBS and Animal Planet to watch in the morning, so instead of watching Zooboomafoo at breakfast time, I’d get up even earlier to watch the show with the meerkat family and Steve Irwin doing the Crocodile Hunter show (I was a huge fan of nature and science 😂). Eventually, I moved on, but I don’t think I’ve ever forgotten about the channel. I think about it on occasion, though I don’t remember any other shows. RIP, Sprout!
As an ‘03 baby this video unlocked so many memories I forgot I had. The good night show was basically a part of my nightly routine when I was a toddler lmao
Sprout was the greatest thing ever for me between the ages of 4 and 7. I have fond memories from like 2012 when I would crawl up on the basement couch and stay up watching Sprout almost every night. I saw like more than half of every show they ever aired, and I even remember a lot of the commercials. It's so tragic what they did to the channel, but even more tragic that the majority of the Wiggly Waffle, Sunny Side Up, Sprout Sharing, Good Night and Super Sproutlet Show episodes are now lost media. I enjoyed watching the bumpers and the programs they had at different times of the day. It was a vibe.
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO REMEMBERS THE SUPER SPROUTLET SHOW! Also who remembers the Let’s Go Show? This was in the very beginning of Sprout LOL I grew up with sprout for its whole entirety cuz sprout existed for all of my childhood years (it launched the year I was born) and my brother’s childhood years too (but he grew up with the modern sprout but I still watched it with him)
We need stuff like the programming blocks of Sprout such as the goodnight show and the sunny side up show to be a thing somewhere again (maybe aimed a bit older) with like these characters interacting and talking about the shows and reading mail and such. It would be so awesome! That was my favorite part of sprout when I was south enough in NJ to get the channel.
I think about Sprout all the time, all the shows, all the memories!!😩we had so many good shows when we were younger!! what happened?😭I loved this video!!🩷🩷
I'm a 2008 baby so the goodnight show was my favorite when I was young and I think of it a lot but I could only remember Nina. I saw this thumbnail and almost cried!
I was born in 2005 and man..I could only remember Nina and star as well..and one of the things that Nina did was tell those stories with the sand art! I could never forget it..she truly had a beautiful talent..I miss her..she was like an older sister and role model to me🥰😭
Hearing the name Franny's Feet opened up a pandora's box of memories about trying on other people's shoes in real life and getting such an awful case of athletes foot that I had to be hospitalized. Fun times. Still continued to enjoy the show after I was better, though. Also have very vague memories of the rubbadubbers and the pajanimals. (I think the major thing that I associate the pajanimals with is DiC Entertainment, though I don't know if they were associated with the show or if I just distinctly remember it being associated since both the logo and the end of the show zoomed out of a window at night and showed stars.)
tbh its so refreshing to see someone talk about this, I grew up with stuff like pbs and sprout and my brother and I were so upset when it changed to universal kids. Nobody seems to acknowledge this and I'm SO glad to finally know what happened
AAAAAA FINALLY SOMEONE REMEMBERS SPROUT!!! I used to watch The Sunnyside Up Show so much, plus I saw promos for Justin Time and The Pajamamals on there all the time, oh how i miss it 😔
I kept on watching Sprout up until I was, like, 12. Some thoughts I had on Sprout included: -There was Zoboomafoo on the early days. I have no idea why I remember Zoboomafoo so distinctly. Maybe it was the Who Could It Be parts? -I'm impressed Chica the Chicken stayed on Sprout so long, considering Five Nights at Freddy's had its own Chica the Chicken that was clearly staying. -I had the opposite memories of Noodle and Doodle. I remember the cooking part but not really the arts and crafts part. -My sister, as an edgy teenager, saw who I'm pretty sure was Nina and said she must've hated her job. I don't think she does. -My father once got a little into Universal Kids. From what I saw is was just Netflix kids' shows dumped onto a cable channel. Also it was airing Totally Spies.
I miss watching Sprout on television from the autumn of 2012 until the autumn of 2016. It was one of my favorite television channels growing up. And it had a lot of good shows, like 64 Zoo Lane, The Chica Show, Nina's World, Stella and Sam, and many more. I am going to miss you, Sprout. You will be in my heart forever. 😭😭😭😭❤❤❤❤

@@marklopez7775 OMGG WAIT YEAHH THAT ONE WAS MY FAVORITE 64 ZOO LANE EPISODE I LOVED IT 😭 I knew the chameleon episode didn't sound right. Honestly, I don't remember that Stella and Sam episode. Maybe if I watch it again I'll remember it.
I swear I remember there being some major episode of The Good Night Show that involved several different guests from several shows joining in for some kind of celebration. I think it was linked to a similar event they did for the premiere of the show “Astroblast”, but that event as a whole except for the countdown to the show’s premiere is now lost. That’s a huge shame honestly and I really hope it can eventually be found.
Holy shit thank you. In 2014 my mom could afford cable for the first time in my life and I stumbled across Sprout as my favorite channel. After we moved in 2016 I didn't watch cable anymore until years later when I discovered it disappeared into the ether. I couldn't figure out what the hell happened other than small pieces of info confirming it hadn't all been a fever dream.
My daughter was born in 2014 and she LOVED Sprout. I watched it every day with her when she was a toddler (2 or 3) and I loved it too. Nina and Star and Chica give me such great memories of that time period!
Man… this video brought back so many memories as a 2004 kid. I had completely forgotten about the Sunny Side Up Show until you showed a clip and it hit me like a freight train. Thank you for this well-researched video essay. Keep up the good work! (also i love your hair and makeup)
i remember growing up on every single one of these shows mentioned and i'll never forget it. i'm so grateful i could experience these shows and grow up to love and appreciate all the care and personality that went into making them. i'll miss this short lived time in my life and thank you for the nostalgia trip! :>
Absolutely shocked to see a video about this old tv channel in my recommended! I remember watching this channel a lot when I was in preschool - elementary. But i could not for the life of me ever remember what it was called. I remembered the Goodnight Show segments and some of the individual shows I liked but this video really just brought up a ton of forgotten memories. I remember watching every show you mentioned and I'm realizing a lot of these memories of old shows i legit chalked up to just being childhood fever dreams or something. I wasnt around for Sprout's later years. At some point in my life I went one channel up to Discovery Kids (later The Hub) and that ended up becoming my Go To tv channel (mostly because I had grown past the Sprout demographic and was thus less interested I guess.) But yes, seeing this video remind me about my early early childhood and getting nostalgic for it all. I definitely think a lot of Sprout's programming did shape me a bit into who I am today. Solid building blocks. Thank you for shedding light on this old tv channel! It was nice taking a trip down memory lane and seeing what ended up becoming of the channel. Wonderful video! Edited for spelling fixes lmao
Sprout was my go to program when I was a child, I loved it and the shows like the good night show, the sunny side up show and even the sprout sharing show in the afternoon gives me so many memories. I watched Sprout till the end, even when it became became Universal Kids, but once that changed happened, I faded out of watching cable altogether, but Sprout still left me with a huge lasting impact to this day and I will always love it for that!
When we moved to a new city in like 2007 we spent the whole summer painting my room and moving in and so I slept on the hideaway bed in the living room couch. I remember watching the goodnight show every night and it was so comforting in such an unfamiliar place.
I miss sprout so much! I didn’t care how old I was, I kept watching it cuz it was so fun and cool until the “rebrand” happened.😭😭😭 I just want sprout back!
You know, most people don’t talk about Sprout. It’s nice to see that for a change. It was a very good program in its time, especially the Good Night Show. It’s a shame it’s been replaced 😞
I'm not even that far into the video yet but oh my god...finally some sprout coverage. Learning that she came to be literally 30 days after I was born is insane also?? Like...sprout was the day 1 thing fr
GOD I HAVE VERY SPECIFIC NIGHTMARE ABOUT RUBADUBBERS BC IT WAS THE LAST SHOW TO PLAY ON SPROUT AT NIGHT BEFORE IT SWAPPED TO ADULT SWIM...it was this show w/ a very heavy metal aesthetic so I got spooked so bad in my bed bc of the sounds and dark (as in color) imagery jsbdbs
I was 10 when my brother was born in 2006, and I remember watching Sprout with him occasionally. I wouldn’t say I am nostalgic for Sprout, but it does bring up fond memories of me spending time with my baby brother. I’m doubt he would remember this in the slightest, though.
In 2005 I graduated high schooling liked Imagination Movers I had just found the channel and started watching some of the shows, 2009 is the year my mom died
Some of my earliest memories are of Sprout, genuinely. I watched The Goodnight Show every night and The Sunny Side Up Show every morning with my big sister.... thinking about it makes me want to cry tbh
YES!! so happy to see a video like this about a channel I grew up with!! I was, funny enough, about to upload some sprout bumpers and commercials so this timing is impeccable!! I used to watch the show back around 2007 or so, and honestly when universal bought them it felt like looking at a husk of a loved one. :( So sad to see what happened.. EDIT: OMG THE RUBBADUBBERS, I HAD THE SAME ISSUE, NO ONE KNOW WHAT ON EARTH I WAS TALKING ABOUT????? ALSO for those that want a fun story, I remember Sagwa the Chinese Siamese cat airing on Sprout a long time ago, and I had no clue shows could just be taken off a network never to be seen again, so I would scroll through their scheduling to try to see when Sagwa would play again because I started to believe I just made it up?? And the only part of the name I remember was that she was Chinese, so I'd be scrolling looking for a 'C.' And every time. Every. Fucking. Time. I'd see the Chica show, I'd for a split second think it was Sagwa and I'd get sooo pissed. So because of my own misunderstanding I grew to hate the Chica show :)
please upload any bumpers you have!! if you have any recording of sprout just recorded with the shows too if you could upload them anywhere that would be amazing. i miss it :(
Unfortunately, I wasn’t old enough to remember Sagwa airing. But however, I do like the show, watching a few episodes, and had good dialogue watching one of the episodes, and also had good and nostalgic animation. Lucky for you, though, I didn’t like The Chica Show, either. There was a certain charm that was missing from it, something that rubbed me the wrong way, and didn’t have the same magic as a certain other Sprout Original (cough “Noodle and Doodle” cough). I always thought the show was weird, and unfortunately, even today. I was fine with Chica being just a Character on Sunny, but Chica getting her own show? Eh, didn’t really interest me, especially since I wanted more PBS and Sesame Street on Sprout, but it’s not like it helped that much. It probably had something to do with another show that got removed in 2010 (cough “Dragon Tales” cough), and the channel just wasn’t the same for me once they removed it. There’s this magic when I look at the Old Sprout, something that Later Sprout just didn’t have. Hm… Seems like for every Sesame Workshop Program that gets removed or becomes irrelevant to Sprout’s Lineup, the more dull and less interesting the channel gets for me. It was also probably because they weren’t airing Clifford, Between the Lions, and Curious George as well, I mean, yeah, We all know Sprout’s not gonna air every PBS Kids Show, even the ones that are not from the PBS Kids GO block, but still… If you hated Chloe’s Closet for the same reason you hated The Chica Show, then I am so sorry… Chloe’s Closet, in my opinion, was one of the only good Post-Rebrand Shows on the channel, and was the last show to be added before the Channel started to crumble once they added “Monkey See, Monkey Do” and axed “Dragon Tales”.
@@theganonmastermindcrapprod1798 Don't get me started on Dragon Tales haha, that was another all-time favorite of mine! And oddly enough I didn't have the same problem with Chloe's Closet, although to be fair that started airing around when I was growing out of watching Sprout, I may check it out in the future though for nostalgia's sake! :) But yeah, I had a similar cheap feeling from The Chica Show. From what I remember I think The Chica show was flash animated? so that might be one of the reasons I had that feeling about it, when they had perfectly good puppets right there haha. (although there are plenty of really good shows animated with flash, MLP and Dan Vs. come to mind) but I understand why they animated it. They don't have the budget of sesame street to work with lol. I wish they did added more PBS shows honestly. I would've loved to grow up with Arthur and Word Girl but never was able to find out how to watch PBS kids so I never got to :( Another show I miss that would air on Sprout was 64 Zoo Lane. I wouldn't go to bed until I saw at least one episode haha. As well as Kipper the Dog, but I never went mad trying to find that show as we had some episodes on VHS lol :) I'm happy you found Sagwa interesting though! I'm glad I got to introduce that cute little show to someone else all these years later. It's been a while since I've seen it myself, but I remember it being very calming to my child brain haha. I must have been only a few years old when I saw it so all I had to go on were faint memories of the animation lol! Old Sprout was the best, but I won't lie, when I found out Universal Kids is airing full movies like Harry Potter, I got a liiiiitle jealous of all the kids that get to have all those movies on cable without searching around. Although I guess kids have streaming services now huh? I used to pride myself in my collection of my favorite episodes and movies I had recorded onto the cable box haha! Thank you for the throwback :)

Same I watched this probably up until they disappeared and that was probably when I was in middle school
“dont know why my parents didnt see the autism” is singlehandedly the funniest fucking sentence ive ever read
i want to print it out and put it on my wall
Same dude. I watched the channel religiously until they started majorly changing things. I was so upset by the changes I switched to Disney shows.
I used to watch it during late at night, this brings back nastalgia I was born 2005 and I grew up on the show, loved chika, the Star of the show
I watched it in high school lol
The Melanie situation is soo frustrating to me bc does Pbs think that people who work with kids arent allowed to have an adult life outside of it?? Like are parents, teachers, caregivers, ect. not allowed to talk about adult topics in their personal life away from kids?? Its so unfair to Melanie.
also it was 7 years earlier. She was probably pretty young then judging by her age when she was on the show.
FR I grew up with Nina but the Melanie situation was just so stupid to me.
They were able to get Howie Mandel....of all ppl... to appear on the show but Melanie's video from 7 years prior is too much to handle...? smh

Even moreso when you realize that Thomas and Friends (which aired on the channel) had George Carlin as one of its narrators

TRULY had no idea the show ran for that long so to find out it was downgraded was so sad to see

I was born in November of 2004, and I remember watching Sprout from pretty early on, like late 2000s to early 2010s
The Goodnight Show was probably thr biggest part of it for me, and seeing Nina's sand drawing segment in this video was incredibly nostalgic. I genuinely watched Sprout until I was in 4th or 5th grade.
Compared to others, I've always been a little young or "behind" as a person.
the goodnight show brings back so many memories, like watching it after bath time while my mom combed my hair…omg my heart
Your friends at Sprout."
My mom still has our video that won and I have 6 hours worth of videos that my brother and I filmed on the iPod growing up. I may make a video about it because it's such a cool and crazy story.
Again, great video! This one definitely brought back some old memories.
That’s amazing!! So cool that you still have it all these years later.
aww that's so sweet! what a lovely memory :,)
Wow, that's awesome! That's a fun story you might be telling your future kids about someday.

Also I love how ur makeup is the same color as the logo
ALSO THEY DON’T GOT ANY OF THE SHOWS ON PEACOCK AND NOW I AM SAD

Justice for Melanie 🥺❤️

Yooo I loved Rubbadubbers as a kid! My favorites were Tubb and Winona 😊
The disappearance of PBS Sprout hits HARD for me:(
When I was in Elementary School, I would always start the day before going by catching an episode of Thomas & Friends while having breakfast.

I’m actually shocked that the parents were mad about Sprout firing Melanie. Usually it’s the other way around: parents wanting to fire someone for doing something inappropriate.
Yeah me too. At least Melanie didn't do inappropriate things in front of minors which is good thank God
I FORGOT ABOUT SPROUT!! My younger sister used to watch it all the time. I am absolutely devastated at what they did to the network i had no idea
Referring to Alyssa Milano as "some lady" is so crazy to me. I can't believe this is how I learn that the actress from my favorite childhood show had a hand in the death of my other favorite childhood show 😭
I nearly cry every time I remember Sprout, I was a 2010s kid and I grew up on Sprout. Im 10 now, and I still miss Sprout.
Omg so much memories from your comment especially with the Christmas sleep from the Goodnight Show. I’m about to cry from nostalgia🥺🥺
I loved having sprout on in the background during Christmas!! They characters would sleep all night with you on Christmas Eve
I grew up with kipper when it was on nick jr. When i was older i would occasionally watch kipper on spout because it was just so wholesome and soothing.
YES NODDY WAS MY SHIT
Oh my god Kipper!!!!! Thank you so much for unlocking this nostalgia trip for me!!!
I have trouble convincing anyone the majority of these shows existed. I was like the only one who grew up with this in my friend group it’s so sad😭😭
SAME SO MANY OF THESE SHOWS WERE SUCH FEVER DREAMS TO ME
I used to always watch The Goodnight Show when I would have sleepovers at my grandma's house.
Good times...
as someone who grew up with sprout, i was absolutely CRUSHED when i found out it shut down
I love your profile picture.
@@WolfgangXP65-67 this but i grew up with both paw patrol and sprout
@@ugteusof Paw Patrol did kinda hit tho but it sold out SO FAST 😭. I swear no one could tell the difference between a sellout band and Paw Patrol lol.
Same here!
same here. I just got back into it this year. I was going through a rough time and it really helped me, so now I just watch in my spare time.
@@selinapersaud7629 i hope your feeling fine
Does anyone remember Justin Time( or whatever that show was)
@@Lexiholder2534 omg YES i watched it a bunch. My fav was the italy episode and the flash games were so fun too
I loved Sprout when I was a kid. It was my go-to channel at night since sleep didn't come easy to me, meaning I saw the Good Night Show. My fondest memories were the fables, the little lessons, and one of the shows they often played with them- Kipper the Dog. It was just so cozy, and warm. Of course, there were others, but seeing Kipper always lifted my mood and made me more likely to actually get some sleep, haha
I also miss the website. I played plenty of the games, but I primarily recall the Caillou dollhouse one and dressing up Chica. I wish I could go back, but the only way to do that is using the wayback thing and hoping it works properly.
YESSSS KIPPER
@@slurpee4203 My favorite Kipper episode of all time is "The Swimming Pool". Do you have a favorite Kipper episode?
Kipper used to put me in a state of catharsis 😭 legit so comforting
@@angeL_ocracy I see. Well, what is your favorite Kipper episode of all time?
@@marklopez7775 dude i haven’t watched it in yearsssss, i don’t remember a lot of the episodes unfortunately😭 i would have to rewatch it and become familiar with the episodes again
I freaking LOVED Sprout! I remember literally crying as a kid whenever The Goodnight Show ended and the next show came on, THAT'S HOW MUCH I LOVED IT!
as a british person literally everyone around had forgotten rubberdubbers it aired every day when i was younger and i loved it so much 😭😭 finally someone who recognises the underrated masterpiece ‼️‼️
I grew up watching The Goodnight Show and I couldn’t remember what it was called until recently. so nostalgic, idk if I watched other shows from the network but I vividly remember the goodnight show
Sprout was such a big part of my childhood. So sad it has rebranded.
According to my parents, I had my name featured on the Sunny Side-Up Show on my birthday, one year, no bullshit, got up early that day and tuned in!
Eventually I managed to stay up late enough to watch it and I don't remember my exact feelings on it but I do remember thinking Sarah & Duck was pretty cool lmao
use to watch lazy town way back when sorry for getting off topic.
This was in the very beginning of Sprout LOL I grew up with sprout for its whole entirety cuz sprout existed for all of my childhood years (it launched the year I was born) and my brother’s childhood years too (but he grew up with the modern sprout but I still watched it with him)
Sprout Is My Childhood,I Loved Watching Kipper On That Channel & With All Of These Revivals,WE NEED A SPROUT REVIVAL NETWORK!!
Also, fun fact, Leo is portrayed by Noel MacNeal (Bear from Bear in the Big Blue House).
HOW DID I MISS THIS??? absolutely love Bear in the Big Blue House that’s so cool
I knew it was him!
Some thoughts I had on Sprout included:
-There was Zoboomafoo on the early days.

At some point in my life I went one channel up to Discovery Kids (later The Hub) and that ended up becoming my Go To tv channel (mostly because I had grown past the Sprout demographic and was thus less interested I guess.)
But yes, seeing this video remind me about my early early childhood and getting nostalgic for it all.
I'm from 2006, and I remember a lot of it! You never know 🤷🏿♀️
In 2005 I graduated high schooling liked Imagination Movers I had just found the channel and started watching some of the shows, 2009 is the year my mom died
It was also probably because they weren’t airing Clifford, Between the Lions, and Curious George as well, I mean, yeah, We all know Sprout’s not gonna air every PBS Kids Show, even the ones that are not from the PBS Kids GO block, but still…
If you hated Chloe’s Closet for the same reason you hated The Chica Show, then I am so sorry… Chloe’s Closet, in my opinion, was one of the only good Post-Rebrand Shows on the channel, and was the last show to be added before the Channel started to crumble once they added “Monkey See, Monkey Do” and axed “Dragon Tales”.
But yeah, I had a similar cheap feeling from The Chica Show.
I would've loved to grow up with Arthur and Word Girl but never was able to find out how to watch PBS kids so I never got to :(
Another show I miss that would air on Sprout was 64 Zoo Lane. I wouldn't go to bed until I saw at least one episode haha. As well as Kipper the Dog, but I never went mad trying to find that show as we had some episodes on VHS lol :)
I'm happy you found Sagwa interesting though!
