Your channel provides many insights to people also considering a cruising lifestyle. As such they can learn from both your successes and mistakes. One area in which you could be more informative is: how to finance this lifestyle. You frequently indicate that the setbacks you have faced leave you very short of money. Before you began, how were you planning to finance all of this - boat purchase, planned refit, unexpected repairs, ongoing operating/living costs? Please help your followers understand your original and current thinking on this challenging question.

Your journey and experience is not atypical. You guys are not being singled out by the universe. We have been through a lot, ourselves, and can identify with your frustrations. We are on a Hunter Legend 40, in the anchorage outside of the BKH entrance. We spent two years on a mooring ball and spent almost all of November in the back country. Had to return to Marathon for a warranty issue on an electric motor. Trust me when I say that we have replaced nearly every major system on the boat. It eventually subsides and you get some blue sky but the boat is still a boat and when it happens, it happens out there. We'll wave real hard if we pass by on the way to the dinghy dock. Chins up!

To point out something ya'll probably already know but with running that starter battery that low over and over you probably want to pencil in replacing it sometime in the near future. Otherwise great job adapting and overcoming.

Missed you guys, glad your okay & FLOW is being FLOW... Get a18" straight edge, check the pulley alignment. Sounds & looks like one is out of alignment, maybe tweaked a bit, along with all the corrosion. Springing a leak in your engine is never good. Chinese batteries, really? Understand the price point, it's the QA I question. Upped my Patreon for a bit, best I can help with. Fair winds...

Looks like you need to replace the pully. Maybe put tape on the inside of the pully as a temp. fix, or maybe use JB Weld or any kind of two part putty to coat the inside of the pully.

I'm so happy that you guys are healthy and well ! I believe that you are the most open sailing channel on the site. NOBODY else tells the real trials and tribulations of cost, financial burden, and real life frustrations that you do. Everyone else just shows work being done or items being repaired with no mention of the real life impact these things have on the pocketbook. Thank you so much for showing the realities of boat ownership and what it takes for you to live your lifestyle. I know in my heart that just like you took on the task or healing Flo, that you will overcome the obstacles that keep falling into your path and that you will find your true course into the sunset.... Sail On ! (It's not whining it's .... explaining with feeling ;) )

Hey, good to see you back in the saddle again. Ah, the tacky tourist shop, Every beach community has one. Most of everything sold in these places is made in China, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. You can't even buy good old American junk anymore.
You need a new drive, or driven, pulley for the gen. Write down Year, make & model of the gen. Do a search online of the model#. This should lead you to sources for parts and engine drawings for your model. Find the correct part#, order it. Once installed, make certain the drive pulley and driven pulley are perfectly aligned with each other. You may have to adjust one pulley, or the other, inward or outward, to get them correctly inline. Start the gen, w/o the belt cover on and see how the belts are getting shredded. Are both pulleys turning, or is one frozen in place. That's all I have.
OMG, something else? On the the next adventure?..
You can't keep draining and charging and draining and charging you start battery. You are slowly killing it. If you could get one more battery, what kind of battery would it be?
I hope this comment brings you better luck.
    Alan from NC

We lived aboard, cruised for over 25 years. Grab a couple golf cart batteries from Costco. When you sail out of 1st world countries, low technology is the way to go. We have “rejuvenated “ a lead acid battery on Cape Verde with the help of a local welder and his big DC welder.
The good thing is, you won’t remember the bad days as well as you remember the Sunrises.

On the LFP battery front - I suggest that you plan for replacement with quality batteries Despite your limited budget, going cheap is likely to cost you more eventually. If you plan to stay with LFP, I suggest multiple SOK 206 AHr waterproof batteries. I further suggest a review of your overall electrical charging design. (1) Consider Alternator to both LFP House and AGM Start. This protects the alternator from BMS shut-down; however using a LFP charge profile will slightly undercharge the AGM. (2) Set external regulator to de-rate he Alternator so that it does not overheat when working hard to meet the LFP high acceptance rate. (3) Include A DC-DC charger from LFP to House to ensure that AGM Start is always brought to full charge, even when House is less than fully charged (OK for LFP).

You're running into the normal issues that people who buy (relatively) cheap boats run into, pay me now or pay me later. The less you pay upfront, the more you pay to bring it to reasonable specs. I bought a "free boat" and can't tell you how expensive that turned out to be. There is no such thing as cheap in boating. I'm thinking that perhaps you jumped into this lifestyle unprepared for the reality, but I think you're learning quickly enough to make up for it and still make it work.

Hunters tack so much at anchor because they have so much freeboard. You bought the boat in part because of the headroom for Cade, but that comes at a price. Hunters are very much coastal cruising boats. not really designed for blue water. And your cockpit enclosure contributes to the tacking, because it is so far aft and makes the boat handle like you have the mainsail up with no jib. I used to have a small cruiser with 6' 2" headroom in the doghouse, and it tacked all over the place at anchor, for the same reason -- lots of windage aft. I found it helped to put out two bow anchors in a "V" of about 60 to 90 degrees. She would still tack, of course, but the slack rode would pull her head around sooner, so she would tack more frequently over a smaller area.

So good to see you guys again been wondering if you quit. Or sank the boat ! Ha ha !
    All the fun intended !
Love how you guys are so open and honest with the troubles and the expenses. I really don’t know how I could ever afford this lifestyle. I would love to do it tho.
But most UA-camrs just show the glamour of it, and some of them show overcoming problems. They don’t open up about the cost.
But I don’t think you are whining, just being honest. I am sure you get discouraged. That is normal !
If you decide to give it up then so be it, but you would be missed.
I have enjoyed your channel a lot because the things I mentioned.
I hear that people that own Hunter Boats either love them or hate them, there is no in between.
Those that I have followed with Hunter boats all seem to be happy with them. I have heard anyone say bad things about them.
The reason they move around on the water at anchor is they move so easy. Another channel I follow with a Hunter says they sail very much easier than most makes.
Look up Captain Christa on UA-cam she has a 30 ft she loves.
But hey I worked at a boat dealership once boats are problems no matter what size they are. You maybe able to imagine how hunch people spend on their boat for just the summer, every year! It is crazy expensive!
I so enjoy your vids ! Keep them coming! I wish I could give you money.

I’m sorry it’s been so terrible but you have got to have reliable 12 volt power😵‍💫you could actually drown while you’re sleeping as Flo sinks.😊I would have given up on the lithium a long time ago,you need new standard batteries.Do not leave coastal Florida and anchor near land until you get everything working properly. You can put a seal kit in your water pump and sand all the rust off of your engines pulleys. If you don’t it will eat the belts very fast. All that’s happened to you is not accidents it’s because you don’t see a problem until it happens.I bet that seal has been dripping all along. The pulleys definitely we’re rusty from not being ran for so long. And it goes on an on…glad your not flying 🥴At some point you have to decide we can’t do this anymore. No money and not knowing what you’re doing or how to fix things before they fail is a good sign.Hope you read this over and over.I do love your videos ❤
