Jorge been living off a knee that he got tattoo on his chest, he hasn't improved or beaten anyone of top 5 or got a win since 2019. Compare to guys like colby and usman they maintain the style of fighting daily.
I like Masvidal but he is past his prime. He won't ever touch that belt. If he could have done it, he would have done it by now. He is a certified gatekeeper at this point. He should campaign for a boxing match with Jake Paul and get that bag. That is is best move.

No there are still several good money fights for him in MMA yet, the biggest being Conor obviously, also Nate Diaz if he wants the rematch, and Wonderboy Thompson too I'm sure since both him and Jorge are sick of wrestlers lol. Vicente Luque is coming off a loss now too, another potential banger.

Nah he’s got decent takedown defence. But it’s different when you’re fighting someone like usman or Colby. They grew up wrestling and are all American college wrestlers
he’s trying to defend against ncaa all Americans, dudes who’ve been grappling since they could walk. He could be fighting for another lifetime and would only scrape the caliber of wrestling it takes to hit those levels.

Jorge never invested time into wrestling all round, I feel like he focused wrestling training on purely defence all these years, but the best way to fight a wrestler is to show them you can out wrestle them in the position they try to impose, Jorge backing up against the fence willingly, and presenting them with opportunities to wrestle, instead of being where he knew he needs to be to prevent the grind and ride out game from happening, is why he can’t survive against Usman and Colby, also, him not having the cardio he needs to have at the highest level, is the reason why he would be more afraid of the wrestling, when you know that this certain type of situation involving a certain array of movements will tire you out because you don’t have the endurance to battle through it, you’re in trouble

I dont want to take anything away from Colby as he did win fair and square, but I honestly think he got into Masvidals head to the point that when fight day came, Masvidal kinda froze up a little even in his standup. His usual "calm/have fun/aggressive" style was nowhere to be found that night. Idk what actually went on between these two best friends turned enemies but it definitely impacted his game... But still, even If i am a Masvidal fan i think even if he was fighting his usual way and was in shape, I think the outcome wouldve been the same except that we wouldve seen a much more explosive masvidal that maybe drops colby a few times but still probably will lose by decision to Colbys aggressive stamina and consistent control with his wrestling..

Fact is Covington is a premier elite fighter 2nd only to Usman in the division. Masvidal is a journey man street fighter who lacks the variety to ever be an elite mixed martial artist. Wrestlers typically make better mixed martial artists bc its alot easier to teach someone how to strike (see Usman and Colby) than it is to teach someone the instincts involved in wrestling/Ju Jitsu. The latter 2 really need to be started at a young age to develop the instincts required to be great at them

Masvidal is a journey man level fighter who has personality and is good at marketing himself. The knee to Askren gave him the spotlight and a chance at some huge pay days.

J. Masvidal has been comfortable striking and on his feet throwing wrestling away all his MMA career.
Mazvidal needs to work off his back with wrestlers. He tries to get back up EVERY single time killing his gas tank. Instead should welcome the ground game and go for submission. Style makes fights and he can't prepare well for wrestlers.

this sport isn't just about winning its about putting on a show, having fun fights. if this was just guys wrestling and holding each other down the whole time, it wouldn't be fun to watch. the reason Jorge is so successful is because he gets into fun fights and wins them, when he does win. the only Jorge is talking about is being able to stop guys from just holding him down so he can fight his fight, which isn't holding guys down the whole time.
