As an American, I have no childhood knowledge of Action Man, so I find these videos you do about this iconic line incredibly fascinating. Palitoy was an amazing company whose people clearly cared a lot about what they were doing (much like your love for this line is deeply evident). And the fire effects really pop. 🔥 🔥
WOW!... THE WORK PUT INTO THIS VIDEO IS INCREDIBLE! I found myself tearing up a few times remembering the days when toy companies would put fantastic efforts into their toylines. With this video,, the Detailed information, great production values, and a lasting effort to collect the whole line has set a higher standard for UA-cam channel documentaries.
I've just watched this for the third time. The production values are outstanding, from the editing, the dissolves, the effects, everything. But to me, it's the story/background you tell about the toy, it's more than inciteful. But you do that that for every toy history you do! It's hard to describe why it's so good, but it just is.
The Action Man Police Motorcycle was my all time favourite vehicle. I got one in 1980 and the uniform soon after. The uniform is also one of best alongside the Ceremonials of the early 1970s. Thanks for the video as it's brought back a lot of happy memories!
Hi Tony, I hope all is well. I did not become aware of the British name for GI Joe ACTION MAN until I started collecting around 1999 when I was 20 years old and Ebay started getting very popular. It was all very fascinating, and I was excited about learning the history of G.I. Joe and Palitoy’s ACTION MAN. It was like discovering hidden treasure back then. If you have time in the future, would you consider making a short video discussing your feelings when you as a young collector had the same revelation about ACTION MAN and discovering the GI JOE American origins. Thank you.
Tony! Your videos continue to blow my mind with the history that goes into them. This video is on such a different level! Thank you for putting the creative detail into it for us🙏. You are TRULY the Palitoy Action Man historian! Well done sir, well done.
This superb Action Man Emergency Series review / mini documentary proves once again, what an incredible toyline the vintage Palitoy Action Man truly is and how much Tony Roberts loves Action Man.
Wow. Congratulation guy. Best video. In Brazil don't have emergency serie with our Falcon. The Estrela industry here in my country could to do too. Good lock brother👍👊🇧🇷
I can imagine the parents on Christmas Day when that siren was going. 😂 I remember driving parents crazy with my talking police car. “Look out, he’s got a gun, bang bang!” Great memories.
Great feature! I never saw most of the design proposals that were put forward before I started there and the police boots were new to me, ( we could have used them on the Space Ranger !). You've done some great research on this. It's a great tribute to the design department, especially Brian's impressive dedication and input. He really is the best of the best. A big thankyou for celebrating this area of the range.
I have really enjoyed learning about Action Man through your channel. I grew up with G.I. Joe and would have loved mixing the two lines together. You always bring your love of our childhood toys to every video. Thanks 👍
This is a very well produced video Tony. Congrats on setting that bar very high. I would also like to add your collection of Action Man is truly amazing.
This was probably your best produced video to date. I started here with your early livestreams where you'd share various figures your AM collection, so to me, AM will always be the heart of Analog Toys. The images that you captured of this series are just a visual tour de force. I felt like I was looking at a modern catalog for these old 70's toys, only shot so much better than they were, even back then. I have only three AM figures in my collection, and I bought them at a time when I had no idea what AM even was. I just knew that they were GI Joe related, foreign figures, and that they looked cool to me (as I was also collecting 60's Joes, as well). I have learned so much about AM solely from your channel, and I'm always delighted when a new AM video makes a premier here. Thank you for being such an amazing historian and custodian to this brand of toys that started it all. While the folks who intimately know these figures will eventually pass on, what you've created here will live on forever and continue to educate and enchant collectors for generations to come.
Tony, American here so I grew up with no knowledge of Action Man outside of a passing mention in a book or two. I watch these videos entirely because of you man. Your passion and love for the subject is apparent and makes for an enjoyable and informative watch. Keep up the great work brother. Also, that custom uniform is fantastic, it looks every bit as good as the ones you have from cardbacks.
I know I sound like a broken record here but I love discovering all the facets of the Action Man range, having been an American kid in the 90s. I agree with the other comments here, the editing is super sharp here, love the fire transitions! Just like Palitoy, you show a lot of heart and soul presenting these toys in a professional light. Even that little cave diorama just adds that extra pop.
Incredible video Sir. Your thoroughness on this subject coupled with your efforts regarding video production are superb. The Action Man line was loaded with diversity that captured an imagination unlike many other lines at the time: changing from Superhero (Vintage Collection) to Police Officer fascinated me. Fortunate to live in Canada, as a child of the 70's I remember the earlier version of this brand along with its counterparts GI Joe, Big Jim and the Mego series as my locale was influenced by both UK and USA toy manufacturers. Thanks for the morning melancholy with my Java, I truly appreciate it. If you could whisper in Bobby's ear that an Emergency Set might work in a limited series edition, a case of Canada's finest crafted brew awaits you my good man.
The production value of this is great! I really enjoy your knowledge and storied takes with specific sets like this, as it's fun to imagine which figures I would find/choose if I lived as a child decades ago. Also, your custom officer looks very official! Fantastic video as usual.
As you said, these sets are vastly underestimated and I am guilty of just that myself, but thanks to you I'm now hooked into trying to find them all, dang it! Another cracking video, thanks!
well done Tony! I really think Hasbro - Valaverse are losing money not getting into this to complete their main lines. 1 - the emergency theme is a market on it s own, clean, and always popular - educational. 2 - who does nt want to complete their scenes - dioramas with civilians - realistic elements? at least police, fireman and medic, civilians - victims would definitively be a +. because I m mainly interested in those for stop motion movies, I give Marauders the edge. as one can build pretty much it s own set - universe without bounds, it s a sand box principle. one can build many factions and have plenty of civilians - victims caught in between. another great factor is the head fit system which provides one the opportunity to 'change uniforms' 'a la' 60s gi Joe, so your team can 'change' in civilian clothes at will too. like when on vacation or something. your character is then defined simply by the head, not the whole figure, as should be. my movie plan is on ice presently, as just both factions in Marauders amounts to about $2000 easy. if I want vehicles, civilians, buildings, it gets to $10 000 fast, while it s only 1/18 scale... and my apartment is really no ideal size for a movie studio, I d need a dedicated room at least... the dream is however really not dead, as I m expecting a flow of money in the future. and 1/18 vehicles are in the making via enthusiasts by 3d printers. also, I can always borrow from other lines like playmobil or cheap Chinese toys. while I still like 1/6 Joes quite a lot to display, it s a given that it s too big for extensive projects. yeah, 1/12 is good looking too, but still too big as well. I still think the future is 1/18 on the long run, especially if you want many vehicle types. cheaper, takes less space, just as much articulated, and always getting better. good show bro.
Another fantastic video, Tony! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and research about this segment of the Action Man line. You did an incredible job on this one!👍

Awesome video as always Tony! I'm always impressed by how much care and attention to detail Palitoy/Hasbro put into the Action Man and G.I.Joe ranges respectively. 3 D cells seems like a lot for just a light and siren, but I guess electronics weren't as efficient then.
I enjoyed this video, Tony brings quality and I appreciate his research and attention to detail. Side note: The black policeman’s prototype jacket reminds me of the first Mad Max movie’s policemen’s uniform look.
Great video! I’ve been slowly working to complete my LJN tv series Emergency! Collection from the mid 70s. A lot of the packaging is very similar to the Action Man packaging. I’m still looking for the Squad 51 vehicle and a few more accessories. Enjoyed the video👍🏻

That that Crash Truck is originally a Hasbro toy design is so weird. That's way closer to a British Fire Truck and Crash Truck than anything the American's ever used.
The smaller sets allowed us to mix and match- e.g. the crash rescue could be worn by pilots or sailors as their respective air force and naval response units in our imagined accidents🤓

As I told Brian over at Plaid Stallions, Hasbro really dropped the ball with this stuff. They could have brought this stuff over here to the States, along with the Space Rangers line. There was shows like Emergency and S.W.A.T. and The Rookies on TV,they would have went well with those.
If you still need a siren for the fire tender I have a spare I would be happy to send to you 👍🏼 if you don't want to risk taking yours out you could rig it separate so you can display with just your lights or then play the siren. Shame they produce all those bikes. I hope to get hold of that policeman and bike set. I might ring up that vintage toy shop as they've got the action man skier and and a Canadian Mountie uniform and see if they can put them aside for me till next month I liked that realistic police uniform you created coz that's the only one in existence its gonna push the `value up
4 days ago I thought I pick up one action man came back with 2. Action man Field commander and field radio and G.I Joe. Duke. The woman at the vintage toy shop even said Have you caught the bug. Told her had 1973 action man green Beret army soldier she said she'd keep an eye out. Told her the 70s action man was better. Must admit my 1973 action man Field commander and my 1992 G.i Joe Duke look far better than my 1982 talking commander with eagle eye
The added production value of this video really puts it in a league of its own. This almost feels like a Netflix special.

👍🏼brilliant...
Side bar-
