The Daemonculaba Admittedly while Horrid at least serve a practicial purpose the creation of more Corrupted Astartes. Admittedly if not for the Chaos aspect then such a horrid but practical means of creating Astartes could be extremely useful. Especially because all evidence suggests that the creation of the Unfleshed is because of the Chaos aspect of the Daemonculaba. In theory without the Chaos corruption of the Daemonculaba it could be a very efficient way of creating Astartes with little chance of failure.
The Daemonculaba uses Chaos sorceries as part of the transformation of women into those damn things. The Dark Mechanicus uses Chaos like our tech uses lithium batteries. If the Adeptus Mecahnicus tries that it will just be torturing a bunch of women for nothing but an exterminatua as soon as theyre ratted out to the Ordo Mechanicus. Besides, remember Legienstrasse? I doubt the Imperium's gonna risk something like that again
Honestly I think the reason why the Daemonculaba is so shocking isn't fully because what it is but who is doing it. When you hear about it you think "this has to be something the Emperor's Children, or the Word Bearers, or the Drukhari would do." But then you hear its the cold, calculating Iron Warriors then you go "holy FUCK."
If you want true Body Horror from Warhammer look at Skaven and Drukhari Flesh Craft, imagine being captured, then every aspect of your form being riddle, wriggling, changing from warpstone or chemicals being injected or implied, this can result in variety of insanity you being turned into a flesh rug, a flesh room, a flesh box, or occasionally in the case of the Skaven being turned into some variety of their own kind which for some males or and all females of the Human, Dawi, or Eldari Persuasion that are partitioned from those captured for the purpose of enslavement creating new Skaven means being turned into a Skaven Broodmother.
"taken aback" bro cried! This thing was so traumatic that it made a freaking Space Marine fall down in all fours and start sobbing by the trauma he went through!
Also thinking of other things Uriel has experienced, the scene where he watches corrupted Necrons de-inter a marine from a dreadnought is also up there.

An interesting take would be a chapter from the view of one of the "mothers", describing how she loves all her children, but only the Unfleshed are worthy. Trying to live long enough to sire worthy children, yet seeing only the unworthy raised up.
I do find the Daemonculaba very out of character for the Iron Warriors, I can see many other traitor legions committing such horrible acts like these but Iron Warriors would be the last I would assume because they hate mutations.
They do hate mutations, but the end product (rapid, low mutation rate., stable astartes production) for the resources put into it makes the whole system "worth the investment" to them. they have much in common with fabius bile in what tools they are willing to use as a means to their ends.
My thing about it is the daemonculaba is horrible but *as far as we know* that one attempt with Honsou was the only time it ever occurred. And while theoretically it could likely be redone somewhere else I get the feeling its the sort of setup that is kinda hard to get working right given that Honsou's own setup was regularly fucking up. Moreso something I think is a lot worse is just the general idea of Genestealer cults because they're literally everywhere and 90% of them are at a fundamental level breeding cults, something that lends itself easily to...bad things happening on a large scale. Even worse the book Deathwatch shows you people don't *need* to be brainwashed by the Patriarch in order to make hybrids/purestrains, which is honestly kinda fucking horrifying to think about.
Yeah, the nids themselves may be animals, but they cause a great deal of harm and evil in the setting. lets not forget that where everything else (including the forces of space hell) has a soul, they have a giant shadowy hole surrounded by teeth.

When it's like non-stop Drukari Event Horizon body horror I just don't take it as seriously and my brain shuts off and I just observe the gross spectacle without much emotional investment.

@InquisitorXarius I don't see how the Skaven broodmothers would be worse than this? The harrowing part comes from the presumably sentient skaven women being drugged/lobotomized in early life, and then used as essentially breeding cows and/or war monsters for the rest of their existance. As disgusting as it is though, it is not too far off from how reproduction works for most mammals with the female usually having no say in the interaction and getting the short end of the evolutionary sticks. However THIS is looking at kidnapped, fully aware human women getting another human shoved in them and birthed back out again through a horrendous chaos ritual...
Skaven Broodmothers are in my opinion more horrid than the Daemonculaba. For reference the sheer quantity of extreme exstacy and pain a Skaven Broodmother produces is not something even Slaanesh will not touch. That is saying a lot.
...that makes no sense, the Slaanesh part i mean. also from i know of brrodmothers they are barely sentient (whether thats natural/accidental mutation or on purpose is never stated) and their sheer size would make giving birth barely noticeable considering how small a skaven pup would be compared to the mother.
Honestly it's just your usual chaos shenanigans, tamer than usual, even. The poor women are higher than an eversor, so it's not like they feel anything or are even aware of what's happening to them.
Look at any of the Chaos gods, and you’ll find body horror. The Iron Warriors are Chaos Undivided, so it’s really no wonder that they would be up to something truly reprehensible in that department.
I got into chaos when I first learned about Warhammer 40k. So I was curious about how more traitor Marines were made. That's when I was pointed towards this thing. Don't know if this is worse or better than Fabius Bile.
On the plus side this is just how some Iron Warriors are made. Not every chaos marine. I don't think World Eaters have the patience for any of this for example.
@@CoffeeMausWorld Eaters tend to go the route of volunteering Space Marines (loyalist and traitor) by shoving the nails in to whichever ones they can find convenient enough to be unconscious.

"40K is too dark because of Daemonculaba" I guess Commorragh and its inhabitants, nuking entire Tyranid infested planets from orbit and everything related to Slaanesh is not dark enough.
Not personal enough. Things on a such a large scale are incomprehensible and incomprehensible things are incomprehensible. Drukhari are the worst ever a daemonculaba would be a kids school project but afaik nothing they do has been described in detail and it would just get so extreme and avant garde because of how far they've developed.
after seeing the other grimdark stuff in warhammer 40k the daemonculaba for me now feels slightly less terrifying when compared my first reaction of it (still messed up though).
A lot of my friends, and my wife, constantly berate me for not being into horror films and the like. This is because 1) Ive never had an interest in modern day horror and 2) THIS SHIT had effectively desensitized me to anything they could throw at me. I have to constantly remind them that I am into COSMIC horror and 40K, which are arguably worth more in concepts, shock value, and not letting you sleep at night than the drivel they push on me.
Finally, you're incredibly apprehensive voice actually fits the topic! I love how this is from the iron warriors too, The least chaos out of the original traitor legion
I like the Deamonculaba. It gives me hope for the people horrified by it. The skin thing is bad. But as lads we are all worried about the ladies forced through this. You haven't been jaded by grifters like Tate or Fresh and Fit yet. You still have that natural desire to save the princess and that is a good thing. You're all still good lads.
for anyone who dosn't know what the thing in the title is and is squeamish/ has trouble with body horror, the answer is yes. And by body horror I mean the slimy, malformed wet kind
The daemonculaba honestly isn't any worse than the usual 40k grimdark edginess the brand is known for But what sets it apart, and why even the fans of the tabletop go "dude, wth?!" Is the presentation. How vivid he makes a picture of the whole thing, and how well written it was so as to pace the reader and feed their mounting dread as the process and the struggle is detailed. If it was anyone else we would've gotten the quality writing that made "Grey Knights Bathing in the Blood of Sisters of Battle" stuff. So yeah, it's not the contents, it's the presentation.
Is it? Holy demon, ofc it is! Sofar I've found only 1 existing artwork(by an unknown russian artist) of said demonculaba, on the 1d4chan's(or try 2d4chan if first is unavailable) page - and even they were not willing to show said artwork, instead they provide you with a link to it with words "you were warned". The Uriel Ventris series is directly intertwined to the Honsou series by same author. Latter begins with a masterpiece that is Storm of Iron novel. Say, now there's an idea - a video for both uriel ventris and honsou in the future, hm, yes-no?

...that makes no sense, the Slaanesh part i mean. also from i know of brrodmothers they are barely sentient (whether thats natural/accidental mutation or on purpose is never stated) and their sheer size would make giving birth barely noticeable considering how small a skaven pup would be compared to the mother.
This should not be a question...
Trust me...there's much worse that hadn't been written.
@@teezzmegee972Agreed
@@teezzmegee972slaanesh… it’s much worse than what we are shown. Name any ILLEGAL S devience Slaanesh is probably into it
@@teezzmegee972Theres much worse that has been written, Clan Moulder Shenanigans, Drukhari Haemonculli, and Skaven Broodmothers.
Worse
It’s worse than bile
The sad part is this falls into the pile of "Things we stole from Dune and turned up to 11, because grimdark."
Good old Dune Wars - The Xenomorph Strikes Back.
Answer: yes. Before I even see the video; yes.
I remember you mentioning when you were streaming that you were reading the Uriel Ventris series, and was just waiting for you to get to this part... So glad you made a video lmao, honsu is so awesome
"40K is too dark because of Daemonculaba"
I guess Commorragh and its inhabitants, nuking entire Tyranid infested planets from orbit and everything related to Slaanesh is not dark enough.
I really wish Iwas the man I was 12 minutes ago.. 😨
Mr. Bones: Daemonculaba is one of the most disgusting things in 40k
Me: *starts eating chicken*
Skaven Broodmothers: AM I A JOKE TO YOU?!
after seeing the other grimdark stuff in warhammer 40k the daemonculaba for me now feels slightly less terrifying when compared my first reaction of it (still messed up though).
The daemonculaba is the great filter. It separates the wheat from the chaff, the boys from the men, the cringe from the based
The really freaky thing Is this concept shows up in quite a few sci if stories. In fact this is almost 1 to 1 how the tleilaxu in dune make clones.
The Axlotl tank.
The iron warriors are one bad cocain trip.
Graham McNeil took tea breaks while Clive Barker wrote the Daemonculaba sections
I’ll say it, this is my favorite story for 40K. I don’t care what anyone says, Chaos is fun when they are like this.
The daemonculaba honestly isn't any worse than the usual 40k grimdark edginess the brand is known for
But what sets it apart, and why even the fans of the tabletop go "dude, wth?!" Is the presentation.
Short answer: Yes
Long Answer: No, it’s worse
