My theory for Book #3. Since Isla died in the past, and the dead can be found in the other world, there is another Isla there, one who was at her peak of Grim Love, this one will ultimately end up with Grim. The Isla we've been following will ultimately end up with Oro. It lines up with everything that's been said about how "her heart has been split in two", and pays off all the imagery about how she's light and dark, life and death, yadda yadda. It also means that it doesn't end up doing an ACOTAR with Oro ultimately "losing", so all the shippers can be happy at the end of the series.
This is such a galaxy brain take, I'm going to believe it. Although I do wonder if Alex Aster is actually consistent enough to pay off anything that happened in this book later lol
It just feels like the Lightlark series is a photocopy of a collage made from torn printouts of other books... Pieced together on top of the photocopier after slamming the lid down. Wow... Just wow...
@@littleduckbookclub At this rate, it's just the publishers showing their true colors without bothering to hide it anymore. More power to the good writers that push themselves through that system. It's a rough process, and can be soul draining. But, there's quite a few, myself included, that are just forgoing the insanity and just posting it for free. Not even the self-publishing routes. Just posted somewhere for others to possibly find. Quite liberating. It certainly beats the mental strain people put themselves through when constantly submitting their work to constant rejections... It's painful to watch on the writing forums some days. And if they do get accepted, it's for a few thousand dollar advance and the company will barely put any effort to market and sell it. I know for a lot of writers getting a big publishing deal is the dream. But, it just feels like playing the lottery these days. At least the lottery ticket only costs 15 minutes and a few dollars to get.
1. Imagine if of all of Germany disappeared if a KanzlerIn died while in Amt??! I hate to say that this is a hilarious thought, as a concept 2. I love these PowerPoints. I love the animations where characters just slide around 3. The effort put into this?! Unreal!!! Merry Christmas.
I'll give the credit of the "pocket world being destroyed if it's opened and killing everyone, you can't escape and staying trapped is the only way to live" idea being good.
as non native speaker listening to non native speakers for almost 4h and understanding everything is bonkers! loved the video btw the animation is almost exact to what was playing in my mind while reading this book
It's a stupid twist for sure, though I don't actually know if the kind of people who are fans of the book would hate it. Maybe they just enjoy someone throwing fantasy spaghetti against the wall in book format?
This book is giving me whiplash and confusing the shiiit out of me... I could not name you one plot point, it's like children's content with tons of effects and something crazy happening every split second 😭 I know Aster was inspired by Sarah J. Ma'ass's writings, but the beginning of this book also makes me think of shadow and bone: the flying creatures picking people off the ground and ripping them to pieces and Isla's hallucinations of Grim getting between her and Oro (Alina's hallucinations of the Darkling getting between her and Mal). Anyway, I love the PowerPoint presentation, I'm subscribing haha
Maybe it’s a reach, but the scene where Isla talks to Cleo on the balcony feels like the scene where Bella and Rosalie have a conversation where she reveals her tragic backstory and they talk about babies.
underrated channel!! :) btw I think the reason why they had lightlark island as a mini universe or whatever is bc SJM did that as well with her other books or at least hinted at it
omg that makes so much sense. Really fascinating how you can trace practically every major worldbuilding decision in the Lightlark Extended Universe back to other extremely popular Romantasy books
This was hilarious! The drawings and presentation are amazing. Love it. Especially the question mark and tombstone at the floating feast were just so good! xD
This was an incredible podcast 😂 Great presentation, great commentary. Looking forward to listening to more in the future!! About to go listen to the FBAA episode 👀
read the first book and not the 2nd and WTF WAS THAT 😭😭😭😭 ?!?! but thank you for this riveting presentation and for saving me from that mess. but in all seriousness, this was super entertaining and loved the commentary, thank you both 💞
He is bargain bin Rhysand which I suppose is enough for the intended audience to like him? But I'm with you, he's such a piece of shit, Isla has no actual reason to like him, which makes it comical how the narrative insists on him being the coolest sexiest guy alive.
50:00 Not gonna lie, the mental image of the panther going "c'mon, you know how this works, do it properly" was quite funny. EDIT: Never mind, it's a lynx I guess XD
We're glad you enjoyed this! It' been really fun to put together. Nightbane really didn't make much of an impact at all, at least going by what I've seen around on social media (at least compared to Lightlark). It's kind of surprising.
I just finished reading this book and I'm not really sure why Grim declared war? Like couldn't he just tell her the truth or wait for her to remember? It seems like a lot could have been sorted out through conversation, I don't understand. I'm really confused!!
The whole investment thing grim said, I was like six of crows "I protect my investments" who The giant snake Carden who Going with grim to that Festival where he gives her clothes and is almost naked, rysand in acotar with her on his lap barley clothed who Oros friend circle is literally rhys inner cicle 2.0 A depressed main character at the beginning of book 2, feyra who A sword that just dissapears and the dragon guarding him gave my harry potter vibes, that cave with the horkrux necklace And we have twins and and one dies, frad and george who At one point she writes you hate him a dozen times on a piece of paper to remind herself that she hates grim, cardan who She is my wife, again cardan who
Ah yes the glorious underrated genre of a podcast with slides, happy to watch

And somehow that bad photocopy got people on tiktok so hyped that it became a bestseller... kind of incredible in a depressing way

The powerpoint makes this so much better omg
It's a joy to behold honestly. Anna did a great job with it
Listening to this and I keep asking myself: Weren’t we supposed to open a door and stop lizard monsters from ravaging the land or something 😂
Part of the Nightbane Experience TM is just repeatedly asking yourself "why are we doing this now?" and never getting an answer
The grim hallucinations are giving Edward from twillight
Oro with his golden retriever boyfriend vibes makes a great Jacob replacement too

That would be so funny. What do we Germans even have to live for if there's no KanzlerIn?
This is endlessly entertaining!! Thank you youtube algorithm for bringing me here!!
I'll give the credit of the "pocket world being destroyed if it's opened and killing everyone, you can't escape and staying trapped is the only way to live" idea being good.
That's the thing, a lot of ideas that come up in Lightlark and its sequel aren't bad in and of themselves the execution is just so bad T-T
as non native speaker listening to non native speakers for almost 4h and understanding everything is bonkers! loved the video btw the animation is almost exact to what was playing in my mind while reading this book
I'm glad you enjoyed this! Anna's animations really captured the spirit of Nightbane perfectly
The art is fantastic I have been inspired to do the same for my favourite stories
Anna did such a great job with the powerpoint, it really makes everything 20x as good
This book is so unnecessarily long, but your explanation of the plot makes it so much more bearable. Also the slides are kinda cute ❤
I feel like Lightlark's sub-world plot twist is imitating the terrible plot twist from the Divergent series that everyone hated.
It's a stupid twist for sure, though I don't actually know if the kind of people who are fans of the book would hate it. Maybe they just enjoy someone throwing fantasy spaghetti against the wall in book format?

There is so much happening but somehow none of it really matters, really.
And you're so right, the Shadow and Bone vibes are off the charts there T-T
Maybe it’s a reach, but the scene where Isla talks to Cleo on the balcony feels like the scene where Bella and Rosalie have a conversation where she reveals her tragic backstory and they talk about babies.
You know what? I would not be surprised if this was in fact the case, given how much Alex Aster copies from other books lol
I keep repeating the intro, the delivery of the lines is so impeccable and it makes me crack up
3rd book in this style would be slay from u guys !!!
we're definitely planning on it! can't sit out another opportunity to make fun of Isla
underrated channel!! :)

I've near heard someone so defeated after not reading a book
Nightbane will do that to you 😔
I loved this rant! It felt like I was listening to two of my friends losing their shit over a book at a sleepover.🤣
Glad you had a good time! Nightbane really is ideal for the surreal energy a sleepover can produce.
this format and presentation is GOLD!! I love it
This was an incredible podcast 😂 Great presentation, great commentary. Looking forward to listening to more in the future!! About to go listen to the FBAA episode 👀
Glad you had fun! This was a delight to put together ngl Also hope that you'll enjoy the FBAA episode as well :3

I felt the same way T-T Anna did the world a great service in not only suffering through Nightbane but also making the powerpoint!
"Imagine if the Bundeskanzler worked like that" people were already pissed with 16 years of Merkel, imagine fucking 500 years 😂
I just found my new favorite youtube channel
Can anyone tell me what exactly Isla sees in Grim? I'm confused about it. All I can see are the horrible things he does to her.
He's...broody? And tall???
There's no real in character reasons for her to like him other than narrative impetus.
He is bargain bin Rhysand which I suppose is enough for the intended audience to like him?
But I'm with you, he's such a piece of shit, Isla has no actual reason to like him, which makes it comical how the narrative insists on him being the coolest sexiest guy alive.
Why is she surprised about the animal companions? Her tutors had them in LL.
this is my new favourite book channel yall r iconic
This was such a wild ride! O.o The drawings are just amazing, absolute perfection, 10/10 i love ❤❤❤
And the ride isn't even over T-T She's making even more of this nonsense
Im so glad i found this y'all are so funny
Yes the Eldritch Tome of Madness, Nightbane. Cast it into the ocean lest it destroys your mind and soul.
Question is if this video discussing the Tome of Madness has become its own vector of soul and mind-corroding information...
50:00 Not gonna lie, the mental image of the panther going "c'mon, you know how this works, do it properly" was quite funny.
EDIT: Never mind, it's a lynx I guess XD
It makes no sense but it's actually a panther whose NAME is Lynx
Just found you ladies. Good stuff and unique way of reviewing! I subbed!
Just found this channel and I'm ready to binge every single video lol you guys are so funny
Hope you enjoy the rest of the videos as well :3
Id wanna see you do a collab with Crow Caller
I certainly wouldn't be opposed to that 👀
@@littleduckbookclub Watch this space, I'm their editor so Ill pitch it to them. Ducks x Crow: The Lightlarkening
Enjoying this so much girlies! I finished Nightbane last week and hated it but can't find many people talking about it :)
We're glad you enjoyed this! It' been really fun to put together. Nightbane really didn't make much of an impact at all, at least going by what I've seen around on social media (at least compared to Lightlark). It's kind of surprising.
yay someone else is talking about nightbane,,,
glad to be of service!
I just finished reading this book and I'm not really sure why Grim declared war? Like couldn't he just tell her the truth or wait for her to remember? It seems like a lot could have been sorted out through conversation, I don't understand. I'm really confused!!
You and me both tbh Nightbane makes so little sense it's almost like some sort of fever dream but as a published novel T-T
The whole investment thing grim said, I was like six of crows "I protect my investments" who
The giant snake Carden who
Going with grim to that Festival where he gives her clothes and is almost naked, rysand in acotar with her on his lap barley clothed who
Oros friend circle is literally rhys inner cicle 2.0
A depressed main character at the beginning of book 2, feyra who
A sword that just dissapears and the dragon guarding him gave my harry potter vibes, that cave with the horkrux necklace
And we have twins and and one dies, frad and george who
At one point she writes you hate him a dozen times on a piece of paper to remind herself that she hates grim, cardan who
She is my wife, again cardan who
Alex Aster really just put some of the most popular things from the last decade in a blender and sold it to people huh
I love this and im mad i didnt think of doing something like this first lol
don't be discouraged, there's always room for more people to make fun of nightbane in this format!
ive found my golden mine
