seems comparable to the G series by fostex, I really like my E series 2 and 16, the type C is a whole lot better than the later S chips, though the e2 is a more standard master 2 track recorder, tascam and fostex both cheaped out on them for sure, but given that they do sound pretty amazing all things considered
I got mine from a guy in Germany off eBay. He said they were custom built and ready to go but I had to modify them a bit to fit, no big deal but after that they worked great. If I am not mistaken some other Teac decks bushings will work on the MSR 16S.
I think this is the guy I purchased them from. I had to cut a little off the backside with a hacksaw and vice for them to fit, but they worked great after that. www.ebay.com/itm/TASCAM-TEAC-MSR-16-Reel-Table-Assy-5801133400-/194493784955?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=707-127634-2357-0
Hello Marcus, my name is Armand and I am from Santiago de Chile. I have two reel to reel machines that I bought on ebay from the USA. A Tascam 32 and a Sony TC-560d. Anyway, there are other stores that can sell good machines outside of ebay or reverb, where I can buy things with shipping to Miami, which is where I have a mailbox? Greetings, I loved your channel, good luck.
Hey Marcus! Can you share where you bought the new reel table bushings? I have one of these machines and my reel table bushings are causing a truly painful wobble; I'd love to get them running in alignment.
Hey Marcus. I got new reel table bushes but for the life of me I cannot get the old bushes to separate from the reel table. How on earth did you get these apart?
@@endearments That was not easy. I ultimately had to carefully put the reel table in a vice and chip away the old bushings. I think I had to use a drill to get one of them off. Needless to say, it took some time.
I have one for sale on Reverb if anyone is interested. Comes with the snakes/new pinch roller/remote + new unused reel of RTM tape and the Tascam brand rolling cart/stand for it to be racked in. I'm in Petaluma CA.
@@kevinsmusicroom1362 I'm going to be testing it out with the M3500 mixer soon. Everything has been in storage, and everyone on Reverb wants a working machine :) You can message me there
LOVED this machine !!! I remember buying it when it came out . It was very exciting to have so many tracks …

Hi, what was the company you used in UK to upgrade the deck? Thanks
I purchased the part from Tascam Ninja. I think they no longer have that part though. I got another one from a guy in Germany but it was his last one.
What is the name of the company that makes the bushings?
They don’t sell them anymore, I would look at Tascam Ninja.
Yep, Tascam Ninja now makes these for the MSR16 and others.
Hi Marcus! My MSR-16 is in need of new reel table bushings as well- can you tell me what company made them for you in England? Many thanks!

Try Tascam Ninja

@@marcusdolby1 Thanks, I saw those but for that price I might be able to find a local machinist to make a couple on a lathe. Thanks for all the help!

He had them listed on eBay, not sure if he still does. You might want to check Tascam ninja dot com also.

Hi Marcus, Is this deck still available for purchase? If so, how much are you selling it for? Thank you in advance. ~ Steve
Hey Steve, I listed it for $2,000 and it sold almost instantly.
Is it for sale?
It sold months ago
That’s going to be one of those “ I SHOULD NEVER HAVE SOLD THAT”. Hahaha
