I love Tim Minchin so much. He never ceases to inspire me!! I really loved his point about how America has lost its connection with its past culture, and that's entirely true. It makes me sad, really. I'm very lucky to have my moms half of the family be from England, so I grew up with that culture being very heavily integrated into my life.
Some might see this as just fandom, a practice I usually avoid, but I'm beginning to see the Tim as a deep thinker. He seems have a clear mind. His performances are fun, but the stories and monolog are also interesting.
I just discovered Tim at the BBC special comedy Proms 2 weeks ago and I can't stop watching his youtuve videos! He is a total artist, very complete, a genious and I'm very happy he is finally getting the attention he deserves. I'm sorry he wasn't apreciated as such in Australia.."you can't be a prophet in your own land..." Thanks for this gift you are sharing with the world Tim...
me and my brother absolutely love this guy. we managed to catch him when he toured this year with his orchestra and it just so happens his gig at my local arena was actually on my birthday- and omg the show was fantastic, in all my 22 years it was my best birthday ever. we loved it so much we have now vowed to go watch him every single time hes in our town, stalkerish i know! lol but Tim Minchin- i adore you, ure a musical genuis! i wish you all the best in your career!! keep up the great work!!
@choquera I had the same happen with me....discovered Tim at the Comedy Proms and I too cannot stop watching his UA-cam videos and have bought all dvds and cds that I can!! He's a genius and I crave watching his talent! I totally agree...Thank you Tim for sharing your gift with us!
Kind of an off topic fun fact I just found out via the power of Shazam. I really liked the sound of the intro music so I Shazamed it. If anyone else happened to dig it and were interested, it's an Austrailian band called "Even". If this is common knowledge, I apologize for being redundant, but as an American I'd never heard of them. BUT I Spotify'd them after and they are really good!! How the hell they're not more popular I have no idea! They're a good combo of The Charlatans, Stone Roses, Beatles, and...Nirvana, maybe? They've got the heavier rock beats and melodic stylings of Nirvana-especially In Utero era, but with the instrumentation of The Charlatans and jangly guitars of early Beatles while all the while sounding original and maintaining their own personality as a band instead of another Oasis-y, indie copycat. If you like that sort of thing-look 'em up! Im happy I did! New music to love! YAY! ...Now, back to Tim...
I am late to Discover Tim Minchin and late to post on here. But I just wanna thank you for doing the work of uncovering The Australian band, Even. I'm going to go look for their songs. They are very Beatlesque but unique at the same time. Thanks again.
As an Aussie, I love Tim’s work because he is essentially Australian without the “Fosters”, “Kangaroo” bullshit. There is true talent in Australia, Tim, Bazza and dear old Clive show you what it’s all about. Our heritage is British, so why not combine our interests and talents. Onya Timmy.
He's such an intelligent guy. I love it.
