I did the Curtis sidequest on Black 2! Had to use serebii as a guide because the spots for triggering the calls are super specific for whatever reason. But getting to trade with them isn't too hard once you meet with them in person. If I recall, they automatically show up at the Nimbasa Ferris Wheel once a day after that, and after riding the wheel with them (because they develop a crush on the player through the phone calls), they offer to trade the player a Pokémon that is otherwise unobtainable in the game and the player can offer whatever they want in return. Now unrelated, but I'm hoping someone reading this can confirm that I didn't imagine this (I can't check because my copy of X doesn't work anymore and I can't find any proof of this online and I'm going NUTS): there's a building in Lumiose City where they're shooting a cosmetics commercial with a Mamoswine in the lobby. I also didn't know there was a repair option within the eShop, so I deleted the game after it refused to open and kept crashing, and I tried to re-download it but was unsuccessful... I didn't like X much and I hadn't played it since like 2014, so I'm not too torn about it, but it still sucks to lose a game. 😔
i remember finding the old man on accident and, not wanting to give up a valuable POKEMON9thought he'd keep them forever) I left a freshly hatched caterpie with him. lo and behold, I get the Caterpie back and read the note. Your pokemon also comes back with a free Comet Shard, iirc. I kept that caterpie and trained it up alongside the shiny I was breeding for, just because. it was a sad but wholesome side mission.
Worth pointing out Gamefreak likes to hint at the next pokemon game they are working on regularly: Diamond and Pearl opens with the Red Gyrados on the Lake of Rage as well as having Jasmine give you the Waterfall HM, in Anistar City in X and Y you can find a sun dail with four islands on the horizon (a nearby npc mentions the existence of moon dials). This is what I can remember off hand, but I know there is a lot more. Also, near that same truck by the SS Anne in FR/LG, you can find a Lava Cookie.
Fun fact, the og truck seems to have been from a cut town in the center-right of the map. The square path? There was meant to be a cargo area there. My guess is they realized how out of place it would have been, but didn't want to abandon the unique truck sprite, so they hid it as a little Easter Egg. Also, in FRLG, if you trade a Pokemon with Cut (NOT white out! When you return to the pier the ship will instantly set sail!), but before going to the Sevii Islands, you can surf over to the truck, see the updated sprite, and get a Lava Cookie to the south of the truck.
I knew you could turn off the cameras, but why would you rob yourself of the EXP? EXP is such a commodity in Johto, I can't imagine wanting less of it.
8:58 not many people know about this one? Well... Perrserker was really, really overused in raids not too long after the release of the game. So, I think almost everyone knew about that one
Another thing about AZ's Floette is that it has a signature move "Light of Ruin', which can't be learned by anything else. This suggests to me that "AZ's Floette" is its own special instance, where most other Pokemon are like "a (Pokémon) owned by (Trainer)"
The book with the oversized spiked qwiulfish is actually the secret that you need to use in order to be able to catch Manphy in the legends arcues game
Bro I love your videos but I can’t lie sometimes I just spend like 1-2 minutes at a time getting lost in the pokeball gif background lol, like it puts me in some sort of trance
Yeah, the grass cutting thing was useful if you didn't want to have wild pokemon Encounters. You don't even have to be standing in the grass itself for it to work, but since it only cuts a 1 block radius in every direction around you, it's a lot slower than taking a step or two in, first. Plus, in Gen 3, when they have the really tall grass, it takes two times to actually remove it. First attempt turns it into regular grass.
With the overqwil hint in BDSP, it wasn't simply a hint There's a quest where you can catch Manaphy, and that book is the only clue you get for what the hell to actually do to get manaphy
Bonus fact about GS safari zone: its theorized that the exclusion of the safari zone was because the glitches surrounding it became more widely known during GS's development, and instead of taking extra time to fix the issue, they just scrapped it altogether
It seems more likely due to space limitations, because GS has almost all of its available ROM space taken up by game contents and the compression system used to fit it onto such a small cartridge. This includes a lot of unused content and events that never got distributed outside of Japan.
I've actually gone out of my way to trade galar meowth in SV because I don't know how many people would do the classes and such, and Perrserker is a really good support 'mon in raids as it gets Taunt and Helping Hand, plus the hidden ability(which you can access thanks to Ability Patches existing now) boosts steel type moves
Given how little importance the town is, and Crystal only adding the extra battle or two for the Suicune story, I doubt most people even stayed in the town long enough to figure out you could softlock yourself. It wasn't even in the Crystal guidebook
@@seki108 I feel like saying Cianwood is of little importance is a bit unfair considering you have to go there to advance the story and there's also a Gym there (I don't know why I felt the need to nitpick this)
@@Ultradragon16 But those both really only take a few minutes usually, so it doesn't feel that important or worthy revisiting after you talk to everyone once.
I doubt that AZ's Flowette was just leftover data because it has a specific Pokedex entry in USUM, and was brefly obtainable (if you hacked it) into HOME with a model and everything. It's a choice that TPC/Gamefreak made to not release this Pokemon and it's slighly confusing why they never did. You mentioned the truck in Let's Go but the truck also exists in FRLG. If you can get there with Surf without making the SS Anne leave the truck is still there. There's even a bonus item, a Lava Cookie!
AZ's Floette flower also appears in ORAS under a tree in Sootapolis city. This probably proves that whatever they had planned, it was cancelled very late in development if it still made it to ORAS.
Not to mention it had a signature move, with complete stats and finished animation. Really disappointing they didn't at least distribute it, even if it wasn't with fanfare
8:20 that book is actually a self fulfilling prophecy also a closed time loop Because the protagonists of PLA are the Lucas and Dawn from bdsp so you read that in the book and at some point you are sent back in time and do what’s told in the book therefore completing the loop and fulfilling a prophecy
Not really a secret, you just have to beat the scientist standing directly in front of it. And I'd prefer NOT to turn them off. Each one only triggers one time, and it's a great way to get a decent amount of experience. You can fight a few, go back and heal, and then keep going where you left off.
The Canalave Library book in BDSP is actually the intended way to figure out how to do the Sea’s Legends mission in Legends Arceus, outside of using the Internet. PLA gives absolutely no hints at what to do for it and intends for players to have played BDSP and make the connection. The book says exactly what you’re supposed to: have a Buizel, Mantyke, and Overqwil in your party, go to Cobalt Coastlands in the evening and swim through the two spikes sticking out of the water, and the go to Seaside Hollow and find Manaphy and Phione.
There are a lot more secrets in Alola, but I get the need to condense the content for a video. Before reaching the cave for the first trial there is a house, apparently it is Guzma's house which he left and his parents will tell you they miss him and don't know where he is. Another secret is that in one of the Ultra Wormholes you enter a world similar to the one you came from except that it is now destroyed and abandoned due to Guzzlord. There are obviously more but as a bonus, during the post-game (Episode Rainbow Rocket) you fight against Maxie and Archie from the different ORAS games. After defeating them they will both tell you about how they wonder if "someone" like you had stopped them they might not have destroyed the world with their plans. Okay, maybe it isn't so much a secret as it is a detail I hardly hear anyone talk about from the games.
Guzma's father also says he "Tried to beat that boy into shape, but then I was the one who got beaten." He has a bag of golf clubs that are bent up. The implication is that Guzma was abused and then hit his dad with the clubs to get back at him before running off.
Btw Papasea, the scorched slab can sometimes be renamed "Don't catch it." If cheats are detected on your save file. It gets renamed this because missingno. becomes the only encounter there.
You probably already knew this, but the books added to the Canalave Library in bdsp, actually gives you the info you need to solve a puzzle in Legends Arceus. It's more than a lore drop, it's more than just a hint to the next Pokemon game at the time, it tells you the setup you need to recreate to solve a puzzle in PLA. And, if I remember right, that puzzle is mandatory for story progression in PLA. Though my memory has gotten worse over the years, and my mind is known to forge false memories at times, so take anything I say about things I "remember" with a grain of salt
Also about the Croagunk statue from Sinnoh we get it's "origin story" in Legend Arceus, there is a side quest that the nurse asks for a Croagunk to use It's poison to make some medicine or something like that. And then after a guy gets better by using it, he says about making a statue or something as a homage for the Croagunk species that helped him. Oh and not only AZ Floette had unique design and stats, it also had an unique attack called Light of Ruin.
Very cool info, I didn't know about that side quest. I actually have the real-life croagunk statue. A few pokemon centers in Japan did an event in 2009 called "Croagunk Bazaar" where if you brought in your DS with a full team of croagunk, you would be able to purchase special croagunk related items, like this statue and it only lasted a few weeks. I did not do it myself, but I bought it second hand because I have always loved the statue in game.
The Crogunk statue in Hop's home was theorized to be an antique that was passed down by Laventon, who is supposedly their ancestor. See, there was this side quest in Legends Arceus that asks you to catch a Crogunk for medicine use, and after doing that, the man who got cured by the medicine will show up chopping some trees saying he wants to make statues of Crogunks to worship them. It is possible Lavento went back to Galar in his older days and brought a Crogunk statue as a souvenier over there.
when you mention the book in the library related to hisuian qwilfish evolution, it'd be relevant to mention that book and what it says IS the only clue to how to solve a sidequest in legends arceus in order to obtain manaphy in that game, since the pokemon listed there are needed to complete that sidequest, it's not just a foreshadow it's an entire solution to a sidequest for legends arceus
The book in canalave library is doing more than just hinting towards overqwil, it's saying what the conditions are to unlock the manaphy in that mission in Legends Arceus. EDIT: the following is untrue- "It's pretty neat when you realise that it's the special mission you only unlock if you have BDSP save data on the user profile on the switch"
You don't need BDSP save data. I don't have either of them but I got the quest and caught Manaphy. I don't think the book was hinting at a specific mission in a game that hadn't been conceived of at the time, but I DO think it was hinting at a Qwilfish evo that got pushed back repeatedly.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio you're right about unlocking the mission, my mistake. The book 100% relates to the mission in PL:A though. Wdym not conceived at the time, we'd seen previews of PL:A well before BDSP dropped 🤡
Had to check the Joycon thing in Sword and Shield. Since I have the special edition of Tears of the Kingdom Switch. While it doesn't have the intricate design, it does have it's base colour, which is gold.
4:27 I'm surprised you didn't mention the other NPC from that house. When I got to that house that was what I liked the most cus if you say yes he'll start playing the Route 10 music from Black and White 1, which is such a beautiful music and I find really neat that they left it hidden if you wanted to hear it since the actual route is no longer accesible.
The reverse wheelie thing was called a Stoppie in Vice City. My guess is that it was a braking animation on the Mach Bike to add realism to how a bike would be ridden if you were going breakneck and stopped immediately.
I got all the Yancy trades in black 2 and funnily enough those aren’t even the most tedious Pokémon to get in the game. The secret grotto Pokémon are much harder….
It's not in the original BW games because it works like some kind of event. You were to bring a specific sealed item from gen 4 to gen 5 and talk to an npc that can unlock it. In B2W2 I think you can find it by talking to the backpack guy in the lostlorn forest.
Also that book in BDSP is also something you can do in legends Arceus, collect the Pokémon in that story and go through the Arch way at the beach area, and Manaphy will appear as a new side quest. Also, considering that most games have hints towards future games. We might not know what's coming next until the next gen comes out, and then we can go back and relook for the hints in SV.
In all my years of playing pokemon I did not know you could turn the cameras off in Rocket HQ. Though for the truck they did give a nod to the rumors by placing a lava cooki there in Fire Red and Leaf Green which is an item thats supposed to be exclusive to hoenn
3:55 I'm pretty sure it's more implied that that guy is from GSC/HGSS and is the one who stole the power plant's machine part considering the way he talks and how he montions he went back to Unova, his home region after team rocket "bye-bye a go-go" which probably means disbanded which the guy from the Johto games actually doesn't know until the player tells him
Man... what if the front-wheel sprite was actually a scrapped landing animation from an unused idea where you jump off of ramps and terrain puzzles with the mach bike? That'd be so sick. It's a bummer pokemon hasn't truly yet incorporated BMX into its map design 😂
The Yancy/Curtis fact is incorrect. They first call you when you stand on specific tiles. After you find enough tiles to trigger these calls, they then meat with you and take the Xtranciever back. From this point on it's up to YOU to call THEM. They can only be called on a specific set of routes at random and you have to call them 50 times to unlock the trades. The trades can only be done once per day.
In Pokemon ORAS, The Scorched Slab gets a bit more importance, as after you catch or defeat Groudon (OR) or Kyogre (AS), a hidden passageway will open in the Scorched Slab, which leads to a room where you can catch Heatran.
There was so much planned for gen 2 with gold and silver, but time constrains/limits meant a lot of things got cut including cinnebar island, the safari zone, among other things
Dude it was MORE THAN A TRUCK. Why would they put an unused asset in a spot we didnt have normal means to access? That truck wasnt used ANYWHERE in the entire game. A time before the internet, we were wild with claims and those spread through states without internet. It was a crazy time

@@Unwillkurlich That sounds super fun, but I think you could only make the final call that leads to you meeting with them in person after you beat the League.
100% know about the mamoswine in XY.
I never understood what the point was tho. It's in one of the cookie cutter buildings along the outer ring of the city (i feel like its in south boulevard, but it could be north)
I imagine the only reason it's not easily found online is because nobody knows wtf thats about, and if they do its just not impressive enough to post about.
Either way, just know youre not crazy :)
Btw, wdym your copy doesnt work anymore? Mine stopped reading at some point, but i figured out if i press the cart in and hold it down, it'll read again. Else, eject and try again. It's always worked at some point for me when i wanted it to.
@@PrinceTalonSabre THANK YOU
My copy is digital and it seems the data in the microSD got corrupted or something. 🥲
I didn't even realize until a couple of hours away from the eShop closing, when I was checking to see if I had any funds left over and then noticed something was up whenever I highlighted the game on my home menu.
A Front Wheel Wheelie Is Called A Stoppie.
7:17 fun fact that truck does make a reappearance in gen 3's fire red and leaf green.
6:38 The Pokemon you leave with him will also have maxed out happiness when you get it back.
i remember finding the old man on accident and, not wanting to give up a valuable POKEMON9thought he'd keep them forever) I left a freshly hatched caterpie with him. lo and behold, I get the Caterpie back and read the note. Your pokemon also comes back with a free Comet Shard, iirc. I kept that caterpie and trained it up alongside the shiny I was breeding for, just because. it was a sad but wholesome side mission.
Scarlet/Violet will have at least 1 secret unknown to us until later since it will be a hint to the generation 10 game
4:25 I just realized...
What if the forbidden lover Aqua and Magma grunts in B2W2 are the two lover grunts in OrAs?
That lady and her Machamp…what a surprising story😢
It's called a Stoppie 1:50
With the overqwil hint in BDSP, it wasn't simply a hint
There's a quest where you can catch Manaphy, and that book is the only clue you get for what the hell to actually do to get manaphy
You said amato iwato and I immediately got war flashbacks of being amato locked in yugioh
In Gen 4, there are also certain days where pokemon spawns are decreased. idk why, but it's cool.
3:22 we will never know which person he was talking about...
The tentacool is actually available in crystal... I literally got it last week... did nobody know it was in the original gen 2 games?
8:20 that book is actually a self fulfilling prophecy also a closed time loop
Because the protagonists of PLA are the Lucas and Dawn from bdsp so you read that in the book and at some point you are sent back in time and do what’s told in the book therefore completing the loop and fulfilling a prophecy
I NEVER knew about turning off the cameras that’s wild. Good video!
No Hiker in Mt Chimney and looking at the window in the ferry in Gen 3? Binoculars showing Articuno and a text regarding about Snorlax in Gen 1?
That bike rack one i never knew, wow.
Also forgot Diamond and Pearl came out on my birthday, good game to share a birthday with!
Happy Birthday!
The amount of people who didn't know about the cameras in Gen 2 worry me, the game literally tells you that you can
Not really a secret, you just have to beat the scientist standing directly in front of it.
According to the Unown puzzle things, the two spikes are known as horns
@@legitimatefbr9714 Pinsir's horns to be exact
While I am not 100% sure, I believe that the Switch in your home in Scarlet and Violet also matches the one you play on, just like it was in SwSh.
The front wheelie was probably to animate a hard stop.
Btw Papasea, the scorched slab can sometimes be renamed "Don't catch it." If cheats are detected on your save file. It gets renamed this because missingno. becomes the only encounter there.
ssssooooouuuurce? im trying to search it up but no luck
Btw Papasea, if you use a rare candy on the scorched slab missingno it evolves into Pikablu. My uncle works at Nintendo, true facts
Pretty sure the rocket grynt in Icirrus is actually the one from the power plant mission in HG/SS
G/S/C did it first but yeah same rocket grunt
In Scarlet and Violet there is also the art in Nemona's house that looks kinda like an Ahs Greninja, although I don't know if it's really a secret
0:40 Im pretty sure this isnt a secret tho
The Crogunk statue in Hop's home was theorized to be an antique that was passed down by Laventon, who is supposedly their ancestor.
See, there was this side quest in Legends Arceus that asks you to catch a Crogunk for medicine use, and after doing that, the man who got cured by the medicine will show up chopping some trees saying he wants to make statues of Crogunks to worship them. It is possible Lavento went back to Galar in his older days and brought a Crogunk statue as a souvenier over there.
Doing a wheelie on the front wheel is called a stoppie
when you mention the book in the library related to hisuian qwilfish evolution, it'd be relevant to mention that book and what it says IS the only clue to how to solve a sidequest in legends arceus in order to obtain manaphy in that game, since the pokemon listed there are needed to complete that sidequest, it's not just a foreshadow it's an entire solution to a sidequest for legends arceus
You forgot about the ash Greninja Easter egg in nemona's house in Cabo poco
While OR/AS didn't add TOO much to the Scorched Slab, it does contain 2 extra floors and you can find Heatran there in the post-game.
7:37 shows the Pokeball plus CHARGING STAND, not the Pokeball plus itself 😅🤣
I noticed that too, lol
The front wheelie animation might not have been actually doing a wheelie, but rather jumping over a crevice on the Mach Bike.
I had no idea we could turn off the cameras in gen 2 I grew up playing those games just decided to battle them for the exp
The reverse wheelie thing was called a Stoppie in Vice City. My guess is that it was a braking animation on the Mach Bike to add realism to how a bike would be ridden if you were going breakneck and stopped immediately.
6:30 also the Pokémon you let him take care of will have maximum friendship once you get it back, so the old man took really good care of it
I got all the Yancy trades in black 2 and funnily enough those aren’t even the most tedious Pokémon to get in the game. The secret grotto Pokémon are much harder….
I found another secret, when i clicked the like button it changed color!
Snarl is a TM in gen 5, but you can't find it anywhere
It's not in the original BW games because it works like some kind of event. You were to bring a specific sealed item from gen 4 to gen 5 and talk to an npc that can unlock it. In B2W2 I think you can find it by talking to the backpack guy in the lostlorn forest.
I've always thought that using cut to cut grass was common knowledge
8:58 that haircut 😂
Bruh picked up a lava cookie that was sat underneath a truck for god knows how long. Nasty, I bet you fed that to one of your pokemon too. 🤢😂
The bike wheelie could be explained that there was some instance where the player would be stopped by someone or something and has to break abruptly.
3:55 I'm pretty sure it's more implied that that guy is from GSC/HGSS and is the one who stole the power plant's machine part considering the way he talks and how he montions he went back to Unova, his home region after team rocket "bye-bye a go-go" which probably means disbanded which the guy from the Johto games actually doesn't know until the player tells him
A front wheelie is called a stoppie as that is the only way to really initiate the trick.
I knew you could surf through the statues even at the E4 in Lance’s room if I’m not mistaken. Had no idea you could fish there too lmao
Man... what if the front-wheel sprite was actually a scrapped landing animation from an unused idea where you jump off of ramps and terrain puzzles with the mach bike? That'd be so sick. It's a bummer pokemon hasn't truly yet incorporated BMX into its map design 😂
I grew up in Portugal and the Frog statues were to keep Gypsies out, I wonder if the Kroaker statue is the same ;O
The poster for the festival in SV’s DLC can be found around Paldea. There’s on on the restaurant you battle Larry in
In RYB, the Lass Trainer after Rock Tunnel mentions Munna. “I wish there was a pink Pokémon with a floral pattern”
In Pokemon ORAS, The Scorched Slab gets a bit more importance, as after you catch or defeat Groudon (OR) or Kyogre (AS), a hidden passageway will open in the Scorched Slab, which leads to a room where you can catch Heatran.
Didn't know about the Tentacool, noice
I miss the Acro bike. I miss doing wheelies and bunny hops.
Our pokemon bike doesn't hold up to the actual Acro bike.
a „front wheelie“ is called a stoppie
FYI a wheelie with the front of a bike is often called a stoppie
There was so much planned for gen 2 with gold and silver, but time constrains/limits meant a lot of things got cut including cinnebar island, the safari zone, among other things
Ten years later you get to do all the events with crystal stuff too.
Dude it was MORE THAN A TRUCK. Why would they put an unused asset in a spot we didnt have normal means to access?
That truck wasnt used ANYWHERE in the entire game. A time before the internet, we were wild with claims and those spread through states without internet. It was a crazy time
it took me YEARS to figure out how to do the yancy side quest thing. As a 13 year old, I stayed up until 5 in the morning to get all the tradable pokémon from them. Good times.
"Wheelie on the front" Thats called a stoppie
Scarlet and Violet also has the Controller "secret"
I'm a simple guy, I see papasea, I like the video
