excuse me but I just noticed your comment…I wanted to ask that very same question. Hello! Thank you for these informative videos! I have a question with the frame measurements. The width is computed using half the bust measurement plus half the ease measurement twice?
I'm not sure I understand the instructions in the book correctly.. did the author use half the bust measurement (without ease added) plus half the ease measurement? In your video, half the bust with ease measurement plus an added half of the ease was used for width of the frame. I'm having trouble with the waist dart width because the excess take up is very small if I followed the book. Help please. And thank you again.

Pls enlighten me heheh Im just confuse why 😅 heheh Im just a beginner starting to learn pattern making. Thank you for the video! Its very helpful.
With the armhole depth, It’s what the book instructed. The armhole circumference is for adjusting or altering the pattern once you’ve already made the toile or Muslim. So if you observed that the armhole is quite big, you can always refer to the Armhole Circumference measurement. I hope this helps you! ❤️
Ahh i see I get it now ☺️💕💕 I have another question Miss Brit is it okay if the bust point is higher than the armhole depth ? Because encounter it that the bust point is higher with the armhole depth line.
I'm trying to draft this. Once and for all can you help explain this formula? For example 18 5/8in I'm always confused with the / is it divide or point . Or what please explain in tape form. Sorry I really need to know this because it been in almost all your tutorial.
I would like to ask you add tolerance 2x in the bust area (2 2/8 inch & 1 2/8 inch) ?! Before and during the drafting? Does it make the bodice bigger?! Or its just normal?! Thank you!
It does make the Bodice bigger because of added tolerance, i suggest if you don’t have the book the formulas here are accurate. List all of the measurements required with added tolerance or you can just add the tolerance when you’re drafting the bodice.
Good explanation God bless 🙌 🙏 you and your family . How to measure 1 6/8"on measuring tape while drafting on bodice of Front and Back Bodice please 🙏 explain
add the seam or sewing allowances before you cu them on your actual fabrics. btw tolerance shouldn't be confused with seam and sewing allowance. a tolerance is for the movement, like an ease when the actual garment is worn. sewing or seam allowance are the ones you stitch on your sewing machine.
Edit ok, so I ignored the tolerance lol and now I've got too little space with the 3 darts at the bottom and it won't add up to my waist circumference anymore. But I'm still confused because if my brain is right, it would need a whopping 5" rather than the 1/2 of 1,25" tolerance (2" waist dart, +1,5" back waist dart + 1,5" side seam dart). I am now cutting the two peaces in half for more space.
Hello! 🤗 I watched both of your tutorial on Basic Bodice Pattern. I find the Dennic Lo system much easier than helen armstrong (maybe beause of the way of measurements heheh). Hi there the shoulder darts is on the bias part, match the notches of the dart opening (from the shoulder seam) draw a line on the one side of the dart and pin horizontally not vertically, pin everything in place until the dart end. And sew that the best advice I can give. Do it patiently. Sewing a bias part can be such a b*tch. Don’t pull your fabric too much it will distort your dart. Control is the key
For a sloper, don’t put any allowance. But if you want to check the bodice, use the sloper to trace off the bodice and you can put sewing allowances around (excluding the center front, place it on the fold of your fabric)

Hi Britt. How and where do you get the armhole width to compute for the armhole depth?
She measured around her armhole and then divided it by 2. So the circumference of atm where it joins the shoulder divided by2
