Robert Neely I think the Scream mask is copyrighted or something lol. I think they had that issue so they just mad up a new one. Scream basically invented the voice and mask so it could even be patented for all we know.

ashguy1370 No the original mask was copyrighted so they had to make a new one. And they made it somewhat similar because they had to at least try to please Scream fans. I looked into it. I'm not sure about the voice but that could easily be copyrighted as well since it is so iconic.

After seeing this I'm still not excited about this show. It just looks like your typical, generic slasher flick and we've been there and done that a thousand times in horror movies. I don't need a whole show dedicated to it. And that wouldn't been a problem if it was so damn predictable and bland. The entire time I was watching it I'd felt like I already saw it. If there was something unique about it I'd be into but there isn't. When Teen Wolf came out it reminded me a lot of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel but it had it's own favor. The point of the scream movies was to kind of poke fun at horror movies and how stupid they are. This series could be trying to replicate that by having dumb things like that happen. Or maybe they just weren't thinking. Either way, I find humor in it, so it's not really a let down for me.
Even if this doesn't have Woodsboro or the original mask, this captures the essence of Scream, and I'm definitely watching!!!

switchbuckle5th The tv series seems to be a commentary on social media. It's more intelligent that i expected it to be. After all these years and Cabin In the Woods it wouldn't make much sense to make it meta about the genre.
I hope they at least reference woodsboro and old characters as fun little Easter eggs.

switchbuckle5th Well to be fair, if this mocked the horror genre, then it would be cliche. Scream, Cabin in the Woods, etc already did it. The social media approach is new. I think the only other horror film to really utilize social media is Unfriended and that was decent IMO.

Tart squeeker well I doubt Scream or Scream Queens will continue on for further seasons. It isn't possible unless each season is a new killer. Then, you could probably only punch out three or four seasons without too much redundancy. Despite this, Scream Queens definitely looks more superior than this. Hopefully, they are both good. I'm going to try to watch this since it is summer vacation! Woot woot!
I think this show will follow the main 3 characters while adding new characters in every season (kinda like the Scream series did). I hope it's a AHS esque where there is a new storyline every season but the same actors... that would be meta.

As a huge fan of the franchise, this wasn't bad at all. I just wish there was a chase scene. Also, I wish Nina's dialogue was less.. stupid. The mask looks good, but I don't know. I'll give this a shot. I just hope it isn't full of stupid dialogue.

What's the point? These shows are all the same. Some stupid killer stalking some big-breasted girl who can't act who is always running up the stairs when she should be running out the front door. It's insulting.
Yup... and then the sequel always has to bend the rules and make everything bigger, but at least it's better than having to go through the end of the trilogy where all bets are off and even the main character can die (like Ripley in Alien 3).

I really liked the pilot. It took the satire straight from the film and added it to a tv series. I loved Noah's description of modern day television and the show itself... slowly unfolding the story while we get attached to the characters, thus impacting the death of the characters even more. I didn't understand how this could work, but now I see how genius it really is.

Honestly, coming from a fan of the original Scream, I love this opening. It's a clever twist on the original opening with Casey Becker's killing. Instead of an unknown caller, the killer texts the girl on her boyfriend's phone.

A lot of people seemed skeptical about this series, but after seeing this...I'm actually kind of excited to see this series! It's a VERY modern take on the Scream franchise with a little originality thrown in there to spice it up. I think this will be a great horror series!

Not bad. It felt like it recaptured the spirit of the _Scream_ series, and I love how it uses modern social media as a plot element, such as text-messaging, while also using it to update Ghostface Killer's M.O. While I do feel the chase should have been a couple minutes longer, it was actually pretty good. So with that said, I'm going to give the show a shot to watch, and see how it holds up compared to the movies.

Kinda sad that Nina died. Wish she survived or atleast lived longer. We learned some things about her. She is the pretty, bitchy Mean Girl, the Queen Bee of the school. She may not have been a good person, but those characters are still interesting and Bella definitely did a good job playing the role. And if Nina lived, something potentially could have happened that could change her and give her character growth. For example, Tyler could still die at some point in the story, and other people that are close to her, and she realizes "Okay, we are all in this together, we are all humans in the same danger, anyone could die, my 'superior popular girl' status won't protect me, making fun of other people is not going to help me and wouldn't stop me from being the next one to go" And if she doesn't come to this conclusion herself, someone like Emma, Audrey, Brooke or Noah could give her a pep talk about it.

I'm watching this mainly for Bella and because I LOVE when her amazing acting abilities are able to truly shine, especially since she's considered by many to be a non-credible actress because she made a name for herself in the awful Disney Channel show Shake It Up. I also wanted to comment about a fun fact about this scene and the scene in the original. The original was played by Drew Barrymore (which pretty much everyone who is watching this probably already knows) and has actually worked with Bella in the Adam Sandler movie Blended and have been close ever since. But that's not the fun fact that I'm about to tell you. Both of them were actually offered a main role in Scream (Drew with the movie and Bella with the show) but both turned them down because they both have always dreamed of doing a death scene. Great and talented minds think alike I suppose.

Watching this back to back with the opening of the original is painful. The first did did it perfectly, and this lacks any of the style or suspense.
I was only going to watch this because Bella Thorne was in it and now she's dead so...
She appears throughout the series in flashbacks, showing her backstory with the whole video and probably explaining why she died first.

BecomeTheNew Not really, I'm a fan if the actress and the only reason I was going to watch was because she was in it. Plus I wasn't interested in the show very much. And I am allowed to choose what I do and do not watch for my own reasons, so please respect them.

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but my problem isn't with your opinion on my reason for not watching the show. My problem with you is that your being unnecessarily rude. well, not scary, but not as bad as i was worried about. the fake head looked terrible. the chick's murder was cool. but, the killer's bastardized Ghostface mask is still shit, and the costume reminds me of the I Know What You Did Last Summer killer, or Urban Legends: Final Cut
still, Ill be watching this.
