Hey, you probably have a modern GPU, so you can use Windows-Key + G to open the XBox-Game-Menu. There, once enabled, you can record the last 30 seconds of your gameplay, so you'll lose less footage when something happens :)
The duration can be set in some menu too, I think, upto 2 minutes, I believe.
