    I should have mentioned that if you've got a Sony mirrorless, and if you shoot a lot of real estate style video, you should set one of the memory recall modes to the best settings for filming ie: aperture at F5.6, manual focus, steady shot off... This will save you time and make sure you don't forget any (I've made so many mistakes leaving active steady shot on on the S3 for example and ruined a lot of shots)

      hey guys, just noticed this request to explain why active stabilisation can mess up your shots. I wish I could post a video in the comments because it looks terrible but hard to explain. In short what's happenning is that the in body stabilisation fights against the gimbal and is counterproductive. The gimbal (if properly balanced) should remove all vibrations, therefore, the camera thinks that a "push in" shot needs to be stabilised, it will crop in and out to compensate an already stable shot, introducing weird motion. I'll try to include some shots in my next video using a gimbal (in the next couple of weeks)

      Hey mate, I'll do another video on the Ronin S2 at some point to cover this. One thing to keep in mind is that gimbal settings will change from one setup to another. ie if you change the camera body, the lens, the filter or even the cables. The best way to start is to auto tune your gimbal, this does most of the work. Then it's just about fine tuning the settings of the tilt and pan depending on what you need to achieve :)

      I love the GM12-24 and shoot quite a lot super wide for both pro work like real estate but also for personal projects. I'm not too familiar with the F4 version. I used to have the GM 16-35 before that is slightly cheaper and does an amazing job too. If you don't mind having an adapter and don't need super auto focus, the Tokina 11-20 2.8 is actually super affordable. I've got this one for my EF mount cameras and sure it's not the perfect lens but for 1/4 of the price you can get it with the adapter and it's worth it. Hope this helps

    • @GuillaumeCornetfilms

      Nop, the good thing about this lens is that it's only the front element that moves inside the barrel which is less than 10mm. Since the lens is fairly "compact", the center of gravity does change much and the RS2 or above will have no problem handling the shift of weight

    • @GuillaumeCornetfilms
      @GuillaumeCornetfilms  2 роки тому +1

      I'd probably stick to the 12-24 or 16-35 because I like to be very quick for my real estate shoots, want to be able to zoom in for more closer up shots and don't want to have to change lens and rebalance my gimbal. Moreover, 1.8 or even 2.8 is overkill for 99% of the shots. As mentioned in the video, I usually stop down to F9 for everything so that most of the picture is sharp.
      The 14mm1.8 seems like a really cool lens tho and would love to use that lens for creative action sequence or portrait with super shallow depth of field!

      I rarely do for real estate as explained in the video. But if I really need there are 2 options. The first one I'd do is use my Polarpro mattebox I can either attach it to some rods or use one of the adapters (haven't used them ever). However, I wouldn't recommend the matte box on a gimbal and the other solution that is great is that the Sony 12-24 GM has a slot for a small nd filter in between the lens and the camera sensor. It's really small and perfect for gimbal work.

    Hey! Do you think autofocus is important at all for real estate?
    I'm debating between either the sony A7IV or the Blackmagic 6k. Eventually I'd love to get a drone that can support the camera, so I figured great autofocus may be handy. Is it worth going 6K to future proof, at the expense of losing quality auto focus?

    • @GuillaumeCornetfilms
      @GuillaumeCornetfilms  2 роки тому +1

      99% of the times I'm shooting manual focus. So no, I don't think it's important at all, unless you film a lot the agents and that you don't have time to set up shots.
      The reason why I like to shoot 6K or 8K is not so much to be future proof because 4K is honestly really sharp already but more or so to have the option to reframe in post without losing quality, which I do a lot especially for real estate.
      If I were to do only real estate, I would go with the A7IV simply because it's a full frame and that you usually need to go super wide and it has plenty of dynamic range but in the end, it always comes down to personal preferences and the gear you like to use the most and offers the best worflow. Hope that helps

    Seems like you choose to simply shoot at whatever shutter speed comes out @F5.6 since you don't have a VND attached. That's kinda the problem with this lense for video. If you want to be able to choose your shutter speed you need a huge NISI filter set or something similar since the front does not allow usage of screw in filters.

    • @GuillaumeCornetfilms
      @GuillaumeCornetfilms  2 роки тому

      Kinda true for outdoor shots. Indoor will very likely go down to 1/50th and I'd play with the ISO. There is a slot for a ND to go between the lens and the sensor on this lens but haven't found a good solution. If I absolutely want a 180degree shutter, the polarpro basecamp mattebox does fit at the front of the element with the ring adapter but at 12mm you can see a lot of vignetting..

    • @GuillaumeCornetfilms
      @GuillaumeCornetfilms  3 роки тому +2

      I disagree :) try to film at 2.8 with the Sony GM 12-24. Easy to get everything out of focus. The depth of field is too shallow, even 5m away or more
      I personnaly love filming at 2.8, but my point was, if you want to reduce your chances to be out of focus, you'd rather stop down to F4-F9 and crank up you ISO. The sony handles high ISO better than most cameras. This allows you when filming to spend more time worrying about your composition rather than wondering if you're in focus.

    Im trying to get sharp image. do you have any expierience with such a settings? rather then 180 angle?

    • @GuillaumeCornetfilms
      @GuillaumeCornetfilms  3 роки тому

      For real estate, having a higher shutter speed won't make the image sharper. It might reduce the motion blur on ceiling fans or trees outside but you will encounter lots of issues with lights flickering with lights inside the house so I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you have a ND filter, such a high ISO will result in overexposing even at F7 in most bright scene but this would be counter productive as the ND filter will reduce your sharpness already.

    • @krystiannaja8675

      Yes it does. It all depends what you're trying to achieve. Keep in mind that the 180 degree rule is in order to achieve a "cinematic look" or motion blur that you eyes are used to. What are the priorities for a real estate video such as the one I was doing? bright and large spaces, clean composition and camera moves, flowing edit. I get the sharpness by making sure I'm always in focus and I'm filming and exporting in 4K. THat way I'm sure that 80% of the viewer watching on their phones are seing something sharp. They won't notice motion blur for this kind of video.

      I will cover my in camera settings in another video. What do you mean by export settings?

      @@GuillaumeCornetfilms they probably mean best export/encoding settings as the last step after editing, aimed at getting the best quality when uploading to UA-cam. There's quite a few conversations over at Reduser about this topic. I think FCPX just has recommended best settings for UA-cam

      @@GuillaumeCornetfilms sorry. if you have to focus manually, do you use a follow focus? I assume you don't touch the lens when on gimbal?

      For the Mavic Air, I don't use any specific LUT. Just my overall creative look. When using the M2P or the new Air2S I use the DJI Luts for Dlog M to Rec709

    l'inconvénient du 12-24 est que c'est compliqué de mettre un ND Filter a cause de la optique globe.

    • @GuillaumeCornetfilms
      @GuillaumeCornetfilms  3 роки тому +1

      je confirme, cependant il y a un slot entre l'objectif et le sensor qui permet d'utiliser un ND. Je n'ai pas essayé mais ca serait une tres bonne solution

      @@GuillaumeCornetfilms c’est assez galère la manipulation, minutie et risque de salir le sensor. En en plus il n’est pas variable 😩. J’ai voulus l’acheter mais trop compliqué pour la vidéo. Domage
