Glad you're passing along the knowledge you've gained on to those of us with less experience! It's frustrating enough to try and learn a craft without having a mentor! "You learn from your mistakes", shouldn't be the slogan for Bladesmiths. Scrounging around UA-cam for as much information as you can is frustrating! Glad I ran across your channel! Subscribed instantly! Really enjoy your videos, even though I've only seen two of them. Got some catching up to do! Geaux Tigers!! How this Louisiana boy ended up in GAINESVILLE, Florida...disgusting!!🤣
Thank you Mark for the kind words. I’m glad to help any way I can. I know how frustrating it is to want to make something and suffer through many obstacles. When I started making blades, we barely had an internet. There were no forums, UA-cam or Facebook. I bought magazines and went to shows. I tried to pick their brains and some would offer a little info but it’s hard to learn anything without doing it and seeing it done. I finally was befriended by a couple outstanding knife makers at the time and they put me on the right path. But I am continually learning things and I love it. Making these vids helps push me to learn more and hopefully help someone along the way. I never feel that I “have arrived”. I only wish I was 30 or so years younger and had that much more time to grow. I love the craft and enjoy giving back...it’s part of growing I feel. Thanks for your support!
@@TonySeverioKnives . I'm a bladesmith and been doing it since 10 yrs of age and always try to learn new and better ways to make my product better or the process smoother and easier while not jeopardizing the product. Thanks again a full time follower now.
Hey Tony, love the channel. I've watched Tim's video on using stainless and it opened my eyes. The only canister I've done was using ball bearings (its on my channel) and I used liquid paper and I ended up having to grind away the canister. Never again! Thanks for the videos... good production on them btw!
I was using 309 foil but the cab was 316L. The foil stuck to the billet but not the can. But it was not to bad to grind off. The stainless tube sticks to nothing! Good luck and let me know how it works out!
@@TonySeverioKnives I had really good success with my first canister so I think I'll be doing a bunch more. I'll be putting together a bunch of billets for later construction... it gets too hot to have the forge at forge welding temps (or on at all!) here in California so I need to stack them up. Thanks for the tips and videos... and thanks for subscribing to mine. Maybe we'll do a collab at some point. ;-)
Thanks Jim. It will make a blade but I know the pattern is going to suffer. I needed more cubes and closer to the final dimensions before forging so as not to distort it to much.
Did you know that the cross is first seen in man's history in Babylon? It appears in connection to Nimrod, and his Dagon fish god priests that look like modern Catholic mitres and capes. And also why Romans were using crosses to crucify. A part of their religious belief and blood sacrifices to Tammuz. Tammuz is mentioned in Ezekiel 8.
Oh yes, very aware of the history of it. It is also the device my Lord was nailed to. For me, it is a symbol of his death and a reminder of his sacrifice. Thanks for watching!
Awesome job, great approach on experimentation and repeatability. Thanks for sharing with the details :) …… Subscribed ! Old guy, Jim M. from Pennsylvania.

I forgot to ask, what kind of stainless are you using? I'm going to buy some 304 since its cheaper... does it matter?
Hey Tyrell, thanks for the comments. Yeah it’s light and day with the stainless. I had the same results with liquid paper. Thanks for watching!

I always use white out by paper mate the dollar store stuff just won't work. 20 cans in a row never had one stick.
This is amazing
Thanks buddy!
