    Just wanted to thank you for the time you spend putting out all your videos.. from general tips to installation guides. Also wanted to say anyone who would criticize you for being "preachy" shouldn't be anywhere near a drone. I find your videos informative, entertaining, and all around excellent. You're a great member of the drone community, and if more drone pilots would have the same outlook as you we wouldn't see near the blow black from the larger population for our hobby as we often do.

      I am subscribed to your channel as I'm very interested in furthering my experiences with my P4. I've followed some of your videos and enjoy your enthusiasm and thought. I'm really thinking on your "make a bundle" ideas and am trying to go about it the right way. I even made a test video with iMovie and posted it on UA-cam "private". Again thank you for sharing your correct ways of thought and doing things.

      I'm glad these are helping and I am close to finished with the next clip in that series and a new one for the Part 107 test prep. Keep filming and editing so it will be natural for you when you get your business started. I really believe that this aerial video market will explode in the next few years so don't miss out!

    Another excellent video. About to be the owner of a Phantom 3, my first "large" drone, but have been working out of town for the last month while it sits at home. Read through the manual, have been on forums, and have watched hours upon hours of unboxing/reviews, tutorials and general maintenance and how-to videos. Your videos are some of the most logical and fact based I have come across, and they are laid out in a simple but in depth manner. Right on, thank you.

    As all the videos you publish, this one is a masterpiece. You really have a talent for this sort of thing. Your communication skill are superb and the way you organize the material is truly remarkable. You are never boring, always informative. My only suggestion is that you make a drone checklist video. As any pilot will tell you, in aviation with have a pre-flight checklist, a checklist during taxi to the runway, a checklist before take off, a checklist after take off, and so on. There is a checklist for just about everything we do before and after a flight.
    Thanks for all the effort, time and energy in helping us to make our drone flying experience a safe and enjoyable one.

    I'm a new p3s owner that was lucky enough to run across this video. Thank you for putting this video together, very professional and informative. I would not have considered all the circumstances you have described, but now that you have, it all makes such good sense to me. I've clicked the like button and subscribed. I'm looking forward to a lot of fun flying my new quad, my wife got it for me for Christmas as a surprise and have started reading up and finding expert advice online to soak up some knowledge so that I'll reduce the odds of crashing right away. I just wanted to say 'hi' and thank you for sharing your expertise. Great video.

    One of the best drone channels out there, having the insight of an engineer in regards to drones is really valuable all fact no nonsense and I enjoy long thorough videos. I’m new to the hobby so I’m taking in as much as I can and I really enjoy learning about drones. Took my Mavic air for my first maiden flight and it is exhilarating, man has always aspired to fly and being able to fly a craft with crystal clear footage in real time is such a rush. It blows my mind that this technology is available to the average consumer for a quite reasonable cost. I’d love to get a FPV headset for my Mavic, I think that is so mind blowing and almost puts you up in the air.

    Just watched this as well as your '10 best accessories' video. As a younger drone flyer I actually really appreciate your content. there's so many "wild and crazy drone superstar" channels doing a lot of haphazard things that having your "drone dad" content is actually kind of awesome. I find myself going back and forth between their channels for entertainment and "what not to do" and your channel for information and "what to do correctly" content. It's a really good contrast to have and I really appreciate the time you put into these videos.

    I was flying a Phantom 3 Std. and received a warning message, "magnetic interference, signal lost" for awhile I lost contact and the dorne drifted several hundred feet. Fly away. Finally, after repeated tries I did get it to return home. It was 1800 ft out. When I investigated my flight path and video, I notice the drone was over (200 ft. above)power lines when I lost contact. So as a engineer myself, I know there is strong magnetic forces given off by the lines. It then sent back message it was landing ! I got it to stop landing. Just something else to keep in mind when flying. I like your videos, very informative!

    A good video and a reminder of the regular checks we should take before we fly. I do all of these but it's a nice reminder without the feeling of being lectured at! The one tip I liked was the checking of the propeller mount which I hadn't even thought of checking but will do from now on and I may even buy the aluminium replacement!? Nice work.

    Another great video Rick, thanks for sharing!
    Great info regarding the batteries. I'll have to start looking at those a bit more closely. As for the blades, I learned early on with my Syma drones to always keep the blades clean. My Syma X8HG was my second quad that I learned to fly on and the stock 1080p camera that came with that thing was incredible for being a "toy class" drone. Being that it was a fixed camera, any problems with the blades (dirt, debris, bugs, etc) would in turn transfer to the video footage, causing a slight jello effect, which would often ruin the footage I shot. Cleaning/checking the blades before and after each flight ensured a much smoother flying experience and produced much cleaner video. That habit then transferred over to my Phantom 3 Professional and along with the batteries & boundaries , is something that should be included on everyones pre-flight checklist.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  8 років тому +1

      Thanks a lot for the support. It sounds like the experience you built up on the Syma is serving you well on the P3P. I love that drone and really flew the blades off of ours. Its got a sentimental side to it as well since my son started flying with me on that quad. I appreciate you watching these clips and hope they're adding value to your flying.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  8 років тому +2

      I agree, it's one of the most critical parts of the machine and if one fails, down comes your drone. Of all the failures I've seen, more than 80% are blades issues. Thanks for watching and subbing the channel.

    Good video. I'm going to have to watch this and make notes. I got as far as Batteries and I agree with you also I think that Batteries are the cause of allot of issues with other drones as well. I heard mention of how checking your aircraft just like a pilot of a full size aircraft does is a great point to stress because we don't get in-side these aircraft and fly so checking things carefully is taken less seriously. I check mine and will check anything I fly a bit more carefully. I won't die if I crash but it could injure someone or cause property damage. Thank you for this video !

    Thank you for making this. I have had my Mavic Pro for years, and have never thought to do a pre-flight check - even on something as simple as checking the blades. I am pretty sticky about making sure the batteries are good, and the remote is fully charged, and so forth, but I never thought to stop and check the blades, even though I've crashed once, and I know how easily the blades can be damaged. I appreciate you making this video, because I now realize I should be looking at the blades and check the drone with a quick once-over before getting it into the air. Cheers!

    Excellent presentation. I can't agree more on the preflight checks and frequent battery vigilance.
    The "thing:" about these 'copter' drones is that they do not (at all) resemble helicopters. In a helicopter you can have a complete power failure and then safely land the machine. In a plane, same thing. (need a nice spot to go to of course...) A drone has very reliable brushless DC motors - that's great - but when there is a power or motor failure, there nothing to be done. It's coming down.
    Perhaps, in the case of a single motor dying or blades failing there may be the means to control the drone to a low impact landing - that would be up to DJI and the others to design. (Two motors at lower power than the 3rd for example). TBD.

    Hey! Your videos are looking absolutely amazing, and this in mind you're spending so much time on the videos, you need to start monetizing these videos! You can easily start making some easy money! And a 30 second ad will not stop me from watching these great vids!

    • @Dronevalley

      Thanks a lot for the kind words and the support. I always worry about monetizing the clips and scaring people away from the channel. I'm pretty new to the whole UA-cam space and am still trying to figure it all out. I really enjoy flying and started the channel to help others enjoy it too. I'll keep making the clips as long as you guys are enjoying them. Be sure to sub the channel so you don't miss any and thanks again.

      I agree with monetizing your videos. You put out great videos, put a lot of effort into each one, and I see no reason you shouldn't be able to make a few $$$ from your work. Everyone on UA-cam does it, and very few put the time or thought into their efforts.

      Will Masterson Ad blockers are my friends. Especially UA-cam ads are annoying. I like Vimeo a lot more. Far better video and audio quality. And also a monetizing system. Great youtubers like you should also go there. There are many quality vloggers on vimeo. But youtube still has way more content.

    Hi, great content. Another good thing to use is the safe to fly apps. I always do a check before flying and it checks numerous conditions such as environmental, no fly zones etc. anyhow keep up the great work. Could you possibly talk about intermittent screen distortion on the ph3 adv. apparently known prob! Do you know anything about it. Taa

    First fly, one of the propellers shot off for no obvious reason, and the drone crashed from 300 ft. Sent the drone back with my video clip. Got a new one from the warranty.

    Ty for taking your time to make these videos. Have you ever bought and reviewed those aluminum mounts under the motor? I ask because I just bought a new P3A and it had cracks and I had to send it back to dji. I will get it back this week and wanting to know if I should get these mounts and do they actually work?

    As a M.E., I can tell you that Electrical tape is Definitely Not a good thing to put on any electrical connectors contact surface! And I assume that is what you are trying to protect. Even the best Electrical tape routinely leaves some of its' adhesive on whatever it is applied to, after it is pulled off! And even the adhesive is designed to prevent current from passing through it. And this on an electrical contact surface, means problems to an electrical connection! I would recommend using a snug fitting "boot" that is manufactured for this purpose. Or an anti static plastic bag that new electrical components come in. Check the retailer that sold you the Drone. If that isn't possible, I would suggest a clean linen bag to keep the battery in. But anything that wasn't manufactured for this purpose could cause more trouble than no protection at all but good old "TLC"!

      Les, I always try and fly line of sight and have only lost my quad twice. Both times were in the pines in NJ when I was rounding a set of trees and accidentally parked the quad up in the timbers by flying too close. I was able to find them but have learned my lesson. Thanks for the post and I hope you sub the channel so you don't miss anything. Rick

    Does the warning about flying near cell phone towers apply to radio towers? My property has a 60' radio tower used by a ham radio operator. You provide information on topics I would otherwise not be aware of. Thanks for keeping me safe and flying.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  5 років тому

      Jan, thanks for the post and your question is a tricky one. It's not necessarily the type of radio tower (frequency) that poses the danger to your quad, it the amount of transmission power. With cell towers, there is a ton of RFI generated (radio frequency interference) at very high power levels to relay the signal. This can drive a quad nuts because it's like trying to hear a conversation at a table in a very crowded and loud restaurant. With the Ham Radio tower, the output power would be much less so you should be OK, but it really depends on how close you fly to the antenna. My suggestion would be to stay as clear as possible to avoid any issues. I hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions. Rick
