During rush hours, there is a peak direction express and local on some of the branches and reverse basically means it is the reverse peak direction during rush hour. For example, during a.m. rush-hour, 5 trains go express in the Manhattan bound direction and 2 trains make local stops in that direction, the 2 being peak direction local and the 5 being peak direction express, and the opposite direction is the reverse peak direction. Vice versa with p.m. rush-hour as the roles in the directions are swapped.
