i got one of these machines and i really like it, i wash my diffuser out before and after use by running a single shot over the empty basket, it also helps heat up for use ,i have set the concave to 3 inside the grinder and use 7 on the fine-corse adjustment wheel on the outside i get 6 double shot cups from the hopper before having to refill, always have a damp cloth handy to wipe the milk wand as well as the inside of the diffuser holder in the machine. and i aim to run a pressure at 11o'clock on the gauge. i use filtered water to fill the tank even though it has a filter inside. my water tastes better after being filtered then what comes out of my tap . the deffuser funnel is a must for not making mess under the grinder as it holds the peak of grounds before tamping. love good coffee and this makes great coffee at home

This is branded as Breville in the USA and it a usually $599. I’m a coffee novice, but I love mine and since I’ve been home on parental leave, I’ve been able to make a lot of espresso. It’s really user friendly and it’s a great machine for the price.

Great review and on point. Although if I had to add one thing to the video, it would be to maybe not hold your portafilter with ready coffee for too long idly set on the machine without pulling a shot, since the shower-head is hot and it will burn your grounds. Other than that really great advises and maybe you can try a naked portafilter, because it will help you with improving your shots drastically and the b-roll from it will be amazing. Stay safe and keep on doing good videos!

Hi. Great video but unfortunately we missed the important part about your dose amount. How many grams you use for double shot? I cannot agree with you about the gauge! I am using this machine about 3 years on and gauge always confuses me. I found best flow structure always in higher pressures. I think this machine only suffers with fresh oily beans. Maybe time to invest for separate grinder machine.

Cuz it’s a monster. That’s why it makes noise. A corvette is fast, it’s not built to be silent. The machine is a workhorse. It’s not that it’s a single boiler why the steam wand takes time it’s because it’s thermal block boiler. It’s slower. The other sound is the purge, it does this because after your froth you can go right to pulling a shot. The new version of your model is the pro. It’s thermal jet. Heats in under 3 secs.

I steam the milk first, finishing by positioning the jug on the spill-tray for a rolling swirl. While that's happening I grind the coffee, tap and distribute (don't use a tamp anymore), by which time the milk is done. Then I pull a fresh shot and add the milk. Quick and easy.

Worse coffee machine, ever. If you just want I nice cup of coffee it’s the wrong machine. It’s for a professional barista, the designer must have shares in coffee, as the amount of coffee wasted, you can use a full bag of coffee beans to dial in, I can never get it right, gone through bags and bags of expensive fresh coffee, and still end up with a bitter coffee, the coffee is all over the counter tops the floor, it’s a night mare. The worse thing I ever purchased. I am not exaggerating. I seriously regret the purchase of this expensive machine. If you like coffee bu5 don’t understand the science, you will rip your hair out over it, and never get a decent cup of coffee. I really think they should be taken off the market.

The hopper size is fine, coffee beans go stale after about 3-5 days in a hopper due to air and light damage. Light is really bad for coffee so a small hopper is actually preferred.
You should purge a single shot of water before and after every brew. It keeps everything clean.
The pressure is incredibly important, it should always be within the black range. Don’t use palm tappers...
Also, never tamp a mound of coffee, you end up having a thicker and uneven compression of coffee. It greatly risks channeling.
To prevent spills, tap the sides of the PF with your tamper while it’s grinding. Then gently tap on your counter and it will evenly distribute the beans. Consistent and evenly pressed coffee is vital.
That grinder is okay for entry level but will need to be upgraded to a stand alone eventually. I have this machine and it’s great for those starting out.
Your milk should be between 60-65C to be optimal.

Hey Mika, Thanks for your feedback, that's really helpful. I have now changed the way I tamper. I also have a Dual boiler with a Smart Pro Grinder. It's quite different. Which coffee home set up do you have? Don't forget to subscribe to my channel, I am about to release a new video about the Dual Boiler. Thanks again for your message and please keep them coming. Francois 🙂
