The truth is that Pantheon has been in trouble for a long time. I only see this new "mode" as a last gasp before it finally dies. I'm not a Pantheon hater or anything. I supported this game back in 2014 with a 100 dollar knight's pledge because I wanted to support Brad McQuaid's vision of an old school MMO. Sadly, I think with his passing that vision went with him. This project is not what I bought into 10 years ago. RIP Brad. RIP Pantheon.
Did we not see this coming? When Brad died, the only real driving force went with him. Sorry to see it go, but it was a long short in the best of days.
I've had people mention this Pantheon game to me before in the past, I was never interested in it. That said, if it does ever release as planned I will check it out. However, my approach is it's DEAD until proven otherwise.
Pantheon isn't the ONLY reason, but it is the BIGGEST reason why I, too, no longer financially support any crowd funded or Kickstarted project at all. Whether it's a video game, board game, or other product, I no longer contribute to those projects. I've been burned on too many of them, and Pantheon was the last straw. I really hope that 247 DOES achieve the goals they want to, and it DOES result in an actual playable MMO in the future, but I'm done holding my breath.
I support them, but I only support ones by reputable companies. I can't imagine how anyone could consider Brad McQuaid reputable after what happened in his personal and professional life post EverQuest.
I was very happy with my backing of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and my backing of Frosthaven. 2 high quality games well worth the price I paid for each backing them.
Yep. People need to stop paying for things that don't exist yet. I think by this point, everyone's had enough warnings. Or like, choose wisely. I've funded some Star Citizen, but I waited until it was a permanently available game. I already have my monies worth, if it ever releases then even better.
Hellgate London was my first experience with these pre-fund grifters. I think I lost $300 on that. I was floored to discover people were throwing 1k+ into Pantheon.
1. The art style is universally hated (people saying they don't mind it are on copium, ignore their lies) 2. You've ran out of money, 247 isn't going to succeed. 3. Half the people excited for pantheon have left and anyone new will see this cartoon game with half it's population saying how annoyed they're with the direction, those new people will not join the game. This MMO is not launching. If you go back to the old art style and make the combat more fluid, you might have a chance of success.
I didn't mind the art style change, but no copium. This is a joke, and I'm glad I trusted my gut to not back and just watch from a distance. rofl. I'm not super picky about art though, so that's probably part of it. Absolutely right about everything else tho!
can a real fan that understands this ip (classic everquest) is to be developed as a caretaker and steward would, win the powerball and just purchase the rights, what would it cost? surely its not worth anything at this point but could be resurrected with the proper care, if pantheon continues down this path i see a class action lawsuit on their hands, people bought into the game with the original art style (not fortnite or wow) and with the original gameplay of eq, if they dont want to make that game anymore they should refund everything and go away
When they switch to lobby shooters, they're doing it in order to meet their minimal legal obligations in order to avoid lawsuits. It essentially means they're giving up and cashing in.
When Chris Jappa Perkins shamefully admitted they had not implemented surface swimming I laughed out loud. 10 YEARS and no surface swimming.

I miss Brad. We were facebook friends and would frequently check in and debate mmo mechanics and what made the vision great.
Pantheon died with Brad. Sad to see.
RIP Aradune.

we did see it coming, Brad was the name they needed to get funding, its really limped along over the last few years.
They had 6 years with brad and only made a demo that couldn’t support an actual player base

best mentality to have with these!

after crowfall and Eternal Crusade, i said never again!

theres people out there that have put well well over $1k into Pantheon.

You speak the truth, seems like they are doubling down though

Absolutely right about everything else tho!
Pantheon is a dead man walking
Vanguard was a great game. Someone should buy it and complere and expand it. Much cheaper and faster than developing from scratch a new game.
10 years just to announce they are taking a 6 month break from making the mmo....thats obviously a good sign
