This is perfect, this is how I remember RE1. I played RE1 first time in 2004 on the PS1 when I was 13 years old, when I got it as a present from relatives in Germany. My parrents house was 100+ years old, that was in pretty bad shape with glass windows, that was inherited from an old couple that was living there. My room was on the 2nd floor facing the street and I first played the game on a rainy friday afternoon right after school.
Who starts off voicing their own thoughts with “fascinatingly”!? 1. It’s not fascinating, it’s barely of interest 2. What sort of ego-driven bell-end speaks like that? Example: Normal person: “I like cats” Bell-end: “fascinatingly, I like cats”
It will always be a memory at the back of your head when you hear a song or soundtrack and you still remember the feeling of being in the room in which you first experienced the song or soundtrack. My memories are of sitting in these save rooms for hours and hours while I was afk, texting or eating, or simply taking a break. There was that brisk air in the room during winter when candles were burning and the windows were open. A great smell. Very unique, but im sure someone can think of their first RE Run
I remember working at a restaurant and whenever i would open this door to a tiny inlet for filling a mop bucket (about the size of benders apartment from futurama) i would just chill and play this song (or a moment of relief) in my head. Its weird thinking about it now but fuck it i was young and more imaginative
I really like this comment, and I know exactly what you mean. For me, it's the feeling of working late when town is starting to quiet down. It's getting dark, occasionally headlights slowly drift by and their reflections cascade down the walls. I'm quietly busy and, for some reason, it's the most at-peace I've ever felt.
These soundtracks back then had such a magic feel to them that you just don’t get now these days. This is very relaxing, thank you for uploading this.😎👍
Reason is as games have become more cinematic with full voice acting and not much to the imagination, the soundtracks have gone either nearly absent or cookie cutter EPIC MOVIE style. Socks, bit it's the way it is.
The rain on this is just spot on. Makes me feel like I'm in the Spencer mansion, grab a few minutes sleep before heading back into the nightmare. Well played, you nailed it. Thank you.
Yeah those years in my life were the best.. for me it was 2008-2009 and the game was mw2. But for some reason these songs take me back to the better days in my life.
This is my first horror game that i played on my ps1 in was on 1996, it was all over in the gaming news magazine ... I didn't expect that Resident evil will get famous to be honest..i expect dino crisis from capcom to be the number one lead franchise because of the quality, and higher budget and it was very famous at that time.. The reason why resident evil got famous at that time because of its name it self is very unique resident evil with zombies and decent graphics on ps1..
I remember this game well when it came out. I was different than anything I had played up to that point. Very rememberable. Dino Crisis was pretty cool too, but not as cool as the resident evil was.
Correct. The graphics were pretty good amongst PS1 games. Just loook at FF7 on PS1. That game looks like ass compared to RE1-3 on the PS1. Another game that I thought had good graphics is Threads of Fate.
Reasons why it succeeded: Stellar ost/sfx, Weird setting (stars team, for kino fans), Reminescent of past gaming like 3do, Plays more like mario (aitd was slow and had even slow actual platforming), Interesting grounded designs, Cohesive/progressive (once again aitd was quite a mess), New ideas surprise factor was quite high, Relatable (dino crisis is less), Not hard to keep repeating to meditate or come up with strategies in other parts of your life (you're bound to start seeing rotating objects or geometry/colors/shadows/physics, then again, also impossible stuff, it's like a drug)
When i was 15 i promised myself that if someday in future i become millionarie i will construct an exact replica of the Mansion on the Ozarks...kids times and dreams..😔 Little knows the 1996 guys of Capcom that such low budget project was the beginning of a Social Phenomena, including cinema movies. ..

i was born in 1998 so i missed this marvelous era of PS1 games, but i enjoyed the remake game... this soundtrack makes you feel safe and brings peace... Resident evil games is a big achievment for humanity
I remember when playing this as a kid I would just sit back and enjoy the music. I also wondered why this save room in the picture never had the music in it. I was like is it a glitch or something 😂
Could you tell me why it didn't have it? I have played almost all Resident Evil games but the very first one (I played the remake of 2002 instead) and, if I'm not mistaken, the Safe Heaven music is heard in this (remade) room. It's not the case in the original? Is there any specific reason?
It takes a special sort of magic to be able to pull of an hour extended version, this theme definitely has it. It was always such a warm and cosy vibe that I never wanted to leave the safe rooms while playing this as a kid. Same goes for the save rooms in the second and third games. The heavy rain just amps everything to 11 😊
I love the remake one, but this one gives me a sense of nostalgia. Resident evil 1 was the first game i've ever played in my life, both the original and the remake. But the original had more impact on me. Still, I cherish both versions.
This is going to sound completely fucking mental but this is so relaxing that not only would I like to live in this mansion (sans BOWs and zombies) but I also use this to help me sleep. I love this theme and this game!
Here I am again, like every now and then. This time wonder how it has to be a really intense rain to be audible in this room, which is in the middle of the building... without any windows...

It's the Japanese style of music in videogames :) They love this melancholic feeling, from Resident Evil to Silent Hill and Dark Souls.. Even in childish/cartoonish games they use similar music. For example check out Ape Escape - Time Station, it's completely opposite of horror but still has a melancholic and nostalgic vibe. I love Japan!
This reminds me of a game called Until Dawn. At one point all the characters are gathered in a room they call the safe room but one of them is bitten by a zombie looking thing. The player has to choose whether to shoot her or let her live. This reminds me of how it feels in the moments after she dies, when you're just sitting there in worry of if what you did was right.
