The stars of Las Chicas Del Cable discuss Spain’s "seductive" first Netflix Original

- The first Netflix Original series from Spain is set in 1928 Madrid and centres on a group of four girls from very different backgrounds who work there as 'cable girls'. NME spoke to Blanca Suárez, Nadia de Santiago, Ana Fernández and Maggie Civantos.
Don't watch it in English, watch it in Spanish with English subtitles. What a great show. Marvellous acting by all. The ladies rock it on every frame, costumes were break taking, so beautifully well made. Their love, friendships and losses are so deep and touches us far across deep into our lives. What a marvellous show it is!💐
This is the first time I’m seeing them off set, I couldn’t even recognize then wow.
Just finished season 1 today. Amazing show! I also like it that this show allows the audio translation in English as well as the option for subtitles. This does make it easier and you don't feel like you miss out on any important scenery. I'm not familiar with shows from Spain at all as of the fact that we rarely get them here State side. We have Hispanic tv channels here mainly from Mexico, by not Spain.
The first Spanish show I got acquainted with I Velvet, just a month ago. I must say, I was blown away by the beautiful cinematography and filming of that show. Spain definitely delivers quality tel vision.

I've just watched the whole show and I absolutety love it! I love these chicas, they are so brave, smart, empathic and beautiful. Love Marga and Lidia of course. You are excellent. Thank you for that show but I am so sad that it ended so sadly. I really hoped that all girls would have a beautiful, long life with their loves finally. At least it is good that they belonged together to the last moment. Thatks to the directors that they've cut the final scene and we don't have to watch the girsl die. They are still alive in the hearts of their loved one. Beautiful show. Thank You very much.

I just finished watching Cable Girls today, such an amazing international show. The English audio really helped me. I can't wait to see the second half of the season. I would really recommend this show to others.
The translation is bad, like really bad... You need to hire a professional translator.

E.g. "David es muy de su padre y de su madre" = "David is very particular doing things at his very own style"

it means they have different personalities, not that they share the same parents.
Their voices are so different. I thought they would be, because of the English voice overs, but man it changes the characters a lot. I still really love it it’s an amazing show. I wonder what they think of their voices being dubbed? Like is that a trip for them 😅

what it says about spain: I know the answer to that question! Spain is really good when it comes to the industry. They are talented and have great actors and actresses, everything is perfect in Las Chicas del Cable. It shows! Perfecta!

I agree. My sister introduced me to the show a month ago. I have already watched all the seasons and episodes. They had about 5 or 6 per season and they're about 30 minutes long. It goes quickly and easy to watch an entire season in a few hours. The last season was released 3rd July, 2020, and I watched it all in two nights. I doubt there will be more seasons...I believe they wrapped it up with the last episode.
My Spanish goes as far as yo me como una manzana, but the translation here seems so.. Off?

Ya han explicado porque dicen que puede ser en cualquier país. La historia trata de ellas de las 4 chicas que protagonizan la serie, no de la situación en España en esos años, así que perfectamente puede transcurrir en cualquier país.

I did not know this show was a Spanish show until I switched my settings. Now I just keep it on Spanish cause it makes it smoother.(I'm bilingual)

Its crazy that the characters who were more bold and leader in it are the more shy ones in this interview and vise versa. This show made me cry in so many ways, i dony know what to do now that its over haha. Also its weird cos i picture the girls to have the same sounding voices as in english. Is someone else doing the audio for them? How does it work
Is it just me or the girls didn't get the question "it's the first spanish netflix original series, what does that say about spain"? For me It obviously says we are totally late, it was about time!
Also, as a lot of people are commenting, the translation has quite a few things wrong. What's the point of interviewing people if then it gets lost in translation? It's a shame that english is a failed subject in Spain and they can't do the inerview directly in english. And also a shame that you didn't get a good translator.
elimetri89 I think they understud the question perfectly, it was just a dumbass question from someone that clearly hasn't seen the show, and btw,english ain't a failed signature in spain.

I am also spanish and have a C2 english level. I meant failed subject in general. If you ask for directions in the street almost no one speaks english. If you buy something in a store, they don't speak english. Not even our politicians speak english.
elimetri89 I agree but also disagree, I’m Spanish and I have a C1 level and love English language and culture as I’m studying English Philology but I really hate that we have to learn their language when we go to other countries while Spanish is the second language most spoken in the world, I think tourists should learn at least a little of Spanish although also people at stores should learn some basic things in English to assist customers

Nobody speak english (Average Citizen) only in the Northerns parts of europe (Only Scandinavia) and the Anglosphere (Usa, Canada, U.K, Australia, South Africa, Etc...) Speak Fluent English

i always have the subtitles and audio on in English. It's so strange to realize that they don't speak english. It's so strange to be on episode 8 of season 2 and to only minutes later see a video where they're speaking Spanish. It's such a transition for my mind.

I LOVE it so much more in Spanish. Granted I know Spanish, but I’ve only recently started watching shows in Spanish. But I keep English subtitles on w the original audio. And it makes it so much better! But that way I don’t get lost lol just in case.

fue una serie de principio a fin, historia, actores, actrices, escenarios y locaciones. El lenguaje es hermoso y he visto toda la serie en una semana. Desafortunadamente se ha hecho. Mi favorito es Blancz Suarez y estaría con ella. quiero ponerme en contacto. Amo a España y creo que Blanca es muy hermosa. También fue muy buena en El bar y creo que Blanca es una muy buena actriz y hermosa.
Ya la vi completa y me encanto , no es una seria feminista. Son 4 mujeres super diferentes en todo sentido, cada una con sus valores, miedos y dificultades y que están luchando por un sueño que en esa época parecía imposible. Además me gusta mucho como visten, la escenografía, lo único que no me gusta es la música que ponen en las diversas fiestas que asisten como que no es de la época, pero quizás eso la hace diferente.

Sólo coincido en la música, no encaja con el año en el que está basada la serie porque por lo de feminista, es claramente una serie feminista, la lucha de las mujeres por tener derechos y no tener que depender de un hombre siempre entre otras cosas.
